Well, I finally realize they merged two different threads and accidentally turned me into a co-author... xD The offer still stands!

A SHORT amateur film.
...well, I finally tracked her down. I've put together a rough outline for the script.

Now comes the hard part: I need some help. Since this is strictly a no-budget production, my plan is to borrow equipment from a local film institute (which is looking like a pretty safe bet)... That should take care of one major hurdle.

Anyway, I’m looking for any motivated young people who might be interested in helping out on an indie set. If you're up for it, shoot me a PM.

To be honest, if you're interested, I can give you the rundown on the plot, the shooting schedule, and all that. As for open roles? There’s plenty to do. While directing, cinematography, and editing are already accounted for, everything else is wide open... We still need to finalize locations, too—some aren't quite hitting the mark yet. In fact, if anyone has an apartment they'd be willing to feature in a scene, let me know. 🤣

Thanks in advance to everyone...

Personally, I found the movie to be quite underwhelming.

Steven Lopez68 said:Avid should run on that setup without any issues. I used to work with Avid on an Athlon 1.7 with just 512 MB of RAM, and everything worked perfectly fine. With Avid, the disks are usually the biggest bottleneck, so it’s highly recommended—and that's how I always did it—to capture your video and audio onto separate drives. You might have just been dealing with a bad copy.

The real strength of the Adobe ecosystem is the seamless integration; having Premiere for editing, After Effects for compositing, Photoshop for raster work, Illustrator for vectors, Audition for sound, and finally Encore DVD to wrap it all up for disc. Since they’re all from the same company, the workflow makes sense and generally performs quite well. That said, aside from After Effects, there are arguably better alternatives out there for almost every one of those programs.

Are you suggesting Avid Liquid should actually work on my machine?? I've tried using 😁

EDIUS is solid and reliable, provided you’re running a powerhouse of a machine. Personally, I mostly stick to Premiere. I gave Avid a shot once, but it was a total non-starter because my hardware was ancient—I was struggling with a 1.7 GHz Pentium 4 and just 1GB of RAM. As for Las Vegas, it’s just not my style.

I’m a huge fan of the Adobe ecosystem. My usual workflow involves cutting the film in Premiere, designing the basic DVD menus in Photoshop, animating those menus in After Effects, and finally pulling everything together in Encore DVD to burn the disc. These tools are excellent, and they play incredibly well together.
There is this one particular plugin that is absolutely stellar. It’s got a bit of a questionable name, if I’m being honest, but don't let that fool you... "Extra Boy." If you Google it, you'll find it's a VST plugin that actually delivers exactly what it promises. For instance, when you're trying to strip vocals out of a track, the bass remains perfectly intact—which is honestly incredible, as I've never been able to achieve that level of clarity before. Plus, it offers several different methods for handling all sorts of processing tasks.

Here is the link; it's the second one on the list: http://www.acoustica.com/plugins/vst-directx.htm

In my opinion, you don't need to look any further than Adobe Premiere; I’d suggest trying to get your hands on version 2. Avid, on the other hand, was a total disaster on my machine—it just kept freezing up, so that's a no-go from me. You might want to give EDIUS a shot; it's a really solid, professional-grade program as well.

Personally, I’m a Premiere guy. If you're looking to move beyond basic editing, then After Effects is the way to go for effects, advanced compositing, and 3D work. Just let me know what kind of projects you're actually planning to tackle so I can give you better advice. 😁
