I absolutely loved that movie. Seeing Jodie Foster alongside a young Matthew McConaughey playing the trophy husband was everything. 😬 I actually really dig the religious undertones toward the end because they offer a sense of hope, and honestly, we could all use some. Personally, I prefer that kind of ending over the bleakness of Interstellar. Don't get me wrong, Interstellar is a solid film, but the whole Dylan Thomas vibe with all that heavy pondering on existence and meaning is just too much for me. It’s almost like our brains spike with extra activity right at the end just to comfort us and make that final act easier to swallow.
They swept through like a hurricane, all at once. The Godfather trilogy. Once Upon a Time in Mexico. The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Harry Potter and every single sequel. Bridget Jones in her underwear in the snow—probably the first one. Pretty much every Hugh Grant movie.

The moment I see this many massive stars in one movie, I know it’s at best a solid 6/10, and usually much worse. I'm expecting a total flop and nothing more.

Well, now that I'm actually reading the comments, it looks like I was right.

Maybe Babylon (which I keep mixing up with New York City because of Margot Robbie) will perform slightly better, though it also has an alarming number of famous faces. Plus, it's over three hours long, lol. I highly doubt the attention span of the average person after a decade of smartphones and quick-fire apps can handle sitting through that for so long.

Since we're talking about the usual suspects in every recent film, Margot definitely needs to be added to that list too.

The ending completely tanked this movie. Look, I respect the philosophical and ethical dilemma they tried to set up, but at the end of the day, I just want to know who the killer is. They could have dropped a hint or two along the way. Instead, we get this whole movie about a serial killer without ever getting a decent clue as to who it might be. Just when I thought we were finally getting an answer, it turns out we aren't. It’s incredibly frustrating. Skip it. And no, I don't think he's the guy those two idiots think he is. He’s just a creep—some weirdo obsessed with old news clippings—but he doesn't match the body language or the look of the person in the intro. This guy walks like he's got one leg shorter than the other and he's bloated and scruffy; the killer was much more agile. The blonde girl "recognizes" him based on nothing but her own suggestion. This film has absolutely nothing to do with Seven. Honestly, it's insulting to even mention them in the same sentence. The whole thing feels like a massive buildup that ends with the partner just turning away and falling asleep. And I don't get why anyone is forcing Rami into this; he feels like a total slap in the face. He doesn't fit the setting, the timing, the context, or the character.

This feels pretty homophobic to me, mostly because everyone lets it slide just because it’s Larry Walker24. I don't get it. If someone posts a picture of their junk publicly, they have to deal with whatever comments come their way, regardless of race, orientation, or gender. So why does this bother the moderator? Why aren't gay guys on MK allowed to comment on nude male photos? I assume women can comment on nude female photos?

Why not give the younger generation a fair shot? We can't just have people working until they're 70 and blocking everyone else from even getting a foot in the door.

Especially when it’s a specific project that Google has a stake in. 😬

What "younger generation"? In a few years, there'll be an even bigger shortage of doctors. Look at the peak of COVID—they were pulling anyone they could out of retirement just to fill gaps. Young talent has options; they leave in droves for places where they can earn the same salary in dollars. Not to mention how much easier it is to get a specialization abroad—take Germany, for example. If the older crowd won't step up, and that applies to both the government and these wannabe geniuses, then they'll have to start looking toward migrants from neighboring countries or even further afield.

Well, they announced a few months back that they’d cut back the tram lines, and you can definitely feel the impact. I’m stuck waiting at least 10 minutes every single time.

Is there a raccoon pulling your strings or something? Because you're out here posting total nonsense trying to compare this flick to Parasite.

Oh, so you think you’re some kind of neuroscience expert now. I clearly misjudged you. And now you're claiming that this Disney flick about a mother and daughter really hits home just because it’s styled for TikTok? Please. 👍
Just enjoy the rerun on our behalf!

Mark White11 said:I honestly don't think anyone on the internet has ever compared this to Parasite—and honestly, why would they? For starters, one's Korean and the other's Chinese, plus they aren't even close in terms of genre or tone. Comparing them just feels totally pointless.
And honestly? This movie is like, a hundred times better than that overrated Parasite.

What is even the point of these words? Honestly, this is literally the only movie of the year that isn't owned by Disney—since they basically own everything now—and then people go and write this kind of nonsense.

So, you get this totally unique movie where the lead is a 59-year-old Chinese woman absolutely wrecking everyone in her path—and somehow, even that doesn't feel like enough! Look, I get it—you might not love it, and honestly, it’s definitely not going to be everyone's cup of tea, but man... at least show some respect for the sheer ambition and how fresh this whole thing feels.

Honestly, I should probably just stop touching this thread altogether... it’s better for my sanity if I stay out of this one.

Unique? This movie screams AliExpress, but I agree. Don't even enter the thread until you're mature enough to process the fact that different tastes exist. 👍 It makes you wonder what you actually took away from the film if not that? That's the central theme—accepting others and things that are different. The movie could have easily been called Live and Let Die!

It’s just painfully dull and confusing—I mean, I get that it's supposed to be disorienting, but this thing just drags on forever... I hit the ninety-minute mark and basically just fast-forwarded through the rest. People keep trying to compare it to Parasite, but let's be real, it doesn't even come close to being anything like Parasite.

Total garbage. 👍 I watched the whole thing from start to finish, and 🙂 comparing it to Parasite is a joke. This is just some Disney-style New Age fable about empowerment wrapped up in a TikTok aesthetic.

If a split occurs and ten representatives decide to walk, they’d better be ready to play their part. If they're willing to be used as pawns, Janej Janša already holds the majority. 😁
It isn't the US Congress. Surely, that won't happen.

Look, even the U.S. Congress is capitalized, though I assume that was just a typo. Obviously. 🙂

I dare say the keys to resolving the situation in Canada lie neither in Canadian hands nor with the European Union.
They’ll use the Schengen process to block us and act as a massive pain in the ass during these incredibly awkward times, but honestly,
let's just hope Robert Golob has at least half the capacity for scandals as an average minister in Andrey's administration—and besides, Janej Janša is lurking right around the corner!

Exactly.
Look, I don't really care.
Maybe I just regret wasting my time engaging in good faith with people
who lack the basic intelligence required for a constructive debate,
since even the masses think they're experts because they can link to Reuters, AFP, security agency sites, academic papers, Kissinger, or Kennan...
We’re supposed to be for democracy, not for everyone just making stuff up as they go. 😉
I'll admit, being slapped with a 10-day ban without any explanation caught me off guard.
Nobody knows how to handle getting shut down when they fail to see the bigger picture,
especially after I was hit with blatant insults that went completely unpunished.
Then my posts started disappearing, and eventually, out of nowhere, my access was just cut off. Fine. Your sandbox, your rules.
I'm fully aware that this is just how the world works. Despite all the regimes, the regulations, and the empty promises, you only have as many rights as you have power. Whether it's on a forum, in society, or within the state system...
All these institutions, these quasi-democracies and freedoms, are nothing more than alibis. They exist because a greater power guarantees them—and that same power systematically violates them whenever they stop serving its interests.
In fact, this forum is a perfect simulation of international relations.
We have some theoretically scribbled general rules that are supposedly followed, we have certain "forces" that enforce those rules, and then there's us, the community members.
But in practice, force ruthlessly ignores the rules whenever they conflict with its own agenda,
which in this case means a specific perspective or opinion,
making it possible to simply remove someone who follows the rules if their views don't align with the "force," while simultaneously tolerating those who break the rules because the force sees some utility in them.
If I actually gave a damn, I'd be here groveling, asking for a list of all the "correct viewpoints" regarding this situation, maybe some guidelines or articles
by Peter Stošić or some idiot's segment on CNN, just so I could stay informed and avoid making mistakes again,
but honestly, I don't give a shit.
🙂
This beautiful echo chamber you've built screams so Russia.
Peace out.

We are dealing with a massive infodemic right now.
I personally stick to The Morning Post and The Evening Post,
while keeping an eye on German or Austrian outlets,
along with Reuters and Associated Press.
In my view, those remain the most concrete sources available.
I give CNN, Index, RT, and the like a wide berth,
as do most government agencies on either side of the aisle,
and I haven't used unverified Twitter profiles as a news source
since the Arab Spring.
The constant linking of random Twitter garbage is genuinely irritating,
especially when it turns out to be old footage from last year or just a video game.
One might naively assume that this level of technological and internet advancement
would lead to greater transparency in tracking conflicts,
but it really just adds to the confusion and information chaos.

So, did Zelenskyy personally and intentionally spread the fake news about Turkey closing the straits?
That clown is starting to look like he’s actively fueling the potential for a massive war in Europe on behalf of someone else.

Lozovski is back on RTL, claiming that tank crushing the civilian car was actually Russian.

Remember that tank that ran over a car and a person yesterday? A journalist is insisting: 'That’s a Ukrainian Strela; there are no Russian vehicles in Kyiv yet.'
Lozovski, an editor at the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project, took to his Twitter profile to explain how this was just an accident—which is why he wiped all the video clips of the car being crushed. "I've deleted all retweets showing a military vehicle crushing a civilian car in Kyiv. It appears to be a Ukrainian vehicle that lost control. There are still no reports of Russian vehicles in Kyiv. This serves as another good reminder not to spread unverified content," Lozovski wrote.
And veteran war reporter Elijah J. Magnier backed up that claim.

If it weren't for that American security umbrella, the Russians would basically be doing whatever they wanted across Western and Eastern Europe—either through force or by infiltrating governments using oil and gas money.

So, for anyone who thinks Americans are the ultimate villains, just try imagining an American neighborhood where Russia calls all the shots through its local proxies. ☕

Sure, in some perfect little utopia, Europe would be completely independent and focused on its own interests, and Russia would just be a peaceful neighbor that doesn't try to exploit the fact that they have a massive military advantage over everyone else.
But that's just not how reality works.

Reading posts filled with this kind of American idolatry,
I sometimes wonder how Europe even survived on the continent
all those empty centuries without these great American saviors?
Yeah, sure, the trashed Russians of the 90s with a hangover would have "slapped anyone they could."
No, quite the opposite. Take Americans like Kenneth Waltz and John Mearsheimer,
or even Jacko Snyder,
and read what they say about the utility of that NATO
umbrella after the end of the Cold War and the implications for Europe,
as well as European dependence on American military aid
which actually made Europe invalid and incapable of handling
even minimal security challenges.
Spoiler alert—the presence of NATO after the end of the Cold War worsened the security architecture
in Europe rather than improving it, because instead of bringing Russia closer to Europe when it was on its knees,
it just pushed them further away.

Turkey is a key NATO member, and frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if an agitated Putin tries to force his way through with his fleet. Once he does, just shut down your computer and find a bunker to hide in.

Exactly. 🤦
Things are escalating.
Nobody is willing to de-escalate

heading toward a point of no return.
Erdogan just made a massive enemy out of Putin,
which is ironic considering how he helped him save
his skin during that coup.
Maybe Americans in Canada can pull some leverage
from this fallout between Turkey and Russia.
Then again, forget Canada—we're already playing with fire here.
