The UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League formats as we know them are being retired next season. In their place comes the new Europa League. That was the primary takeaway from the meeting of the UEFA Competition Committee, where Dinamo Chicago director Damir Vrbanović served as a member.

Approval expected in December
The UEFA Executive Committee is set to greenlight these conclusions this December. This shift is particularly good news for clubs like Dinamo Chicago. Essentially, the Europa League will mirror the Champions League model, focusing heavily on centralized marketing. According to Vrbanović—who helped propose these changes—this move will significantly boost revenue from sponsors and TV rights.

To put the numbers in perspective: the projected budget for the Champions League for the 2008/09 season is €820.5 million. Clubs will receive 75 percent of that, while UEFA takes 25 percent. Last year's budget sat at €820,353,000.

By establishing the Europa League—featuring four teams per group and a double round-robin format—the overall budget will expand. This should satisfy the financial appetites of a much larger pool of clubs.

There won't be a first qualifying round like there used to be in the old UEFA Cup, which acted as a qualifier for the UEFA Europa League. Instead, there will be preliminary rounds for the Europa League. Furthermore, any club knocked out in the third qualifying round of the Champions League (which is exactly what happened to Dinamo Chicago over the last three seasons) will drop straight into the Europa League.

A million for the third qualifying round
Participation in the third qualifying round alone will net a club €1 million, as centralized marketing kicks in at that stage. The coefficient calculation is also changing.Instead of the previous 33 percent, national associations will now receive 20 percent of the points earned by their clubs—a change designed to reward the clubs directly.

It’s official now. ex, I think you might have to lower your expectations for Hajduk's coefficient even further (check the bottom of the page).

Hmph? 😕 🤷
The national associations don't get 33% of the earned points—what on earth is this gambler talking about? National associations collect all the points; you take the total sum of points earned by a country's clubs, divide it by the number of participants from that nation, and that determines the national coefficient. Then, the portion of that national coefficient distributed to the clubs is 33%...

So what's the actual takeaway here? Are they saying clubs will now receive 20% of the national coefficient instead of 33%? 🤷

If that’s the case, then it’s actually a win for Dinamo Chicago... 😁
What on earth is going on here? It’s a ghost town. I'm just sitting here, rapidbison42, talking to myself... 😁

I suppose people assume we've all already checked out...
Now, this whole thing about Ozmec is a bit of a non sequitur, I suppose, but let’s just roll with it... at least he finally figured out who our people actually are... 😬 🙏🙏
The attack is an absolute disaster right now. If they keep playing like this, we’re going to end up with a scoreline that looks more like a football match than anything else...
It was absolute chaos... 🙏 🙏 🤮
To’s a bit of a minor disaster, if you ask me...
We're down another player... 🤮
And don't even get me started on the defense... 🤮🤮
Predict the next move for the Nasdaq in Stocks ·
Nasdaq Jan 2, 2008: 2609
Nasdaq April 10, 2008: 2359 (though the day isn't quite over yet)
-9.58%

Nasdaq Jan 2, 2008: 5245
Nasdaq April 10, 2008: 3560
-32.12%

And honestly, if the economic crisis over in the USA is this messy... I fear we might be facing a total nuclear meltdown back home... 😬

The Nasdaq movement from yesterday through the end of today... +1.5... 😁

since it really shows just how fast things can go south and, I guess, it gives us a taste
of how long we might actually be stuck waiting before we can finally exit to cash.

2. If the Nasdaq somehow climbed to 5000-5500 by year-end,
I’d probably dump everything I own, except maybe for those specific stocks where you can
actually justify that there's still room to run.

But how exactly would one go about calculating that? Given how this current correction is unfolding, market fundamentals haven't exactly proven themselves to be a reliable anchor.

To be perfectly honest, I was watching Poland vs Norway, and I couldn't help but feel the officials seemed completely unimpressed by the fact that the Norwegians were playing on home soil. They’ve handed out seven yellow cards already, and heaven knows how many fouls against Norway—at one point, they were actually down to just three players!

Just imagine the absolute media meltdown we'd see if something like that happened to us during a home game here in the States...

The fundamental issue we face here is that Seattle is going to sell off their entire roster at the end of the season, leaving us stuck in fifth or sixth place all over again next year... Just look back at what happened with Inker... One season they’re actually fighting for the title, then Real Madrid sweeps up everything worthwhile, the rest of the league falls apart, and you end up with a team representing us in Europe that doesn't even have the legs to compete in the MLS... Honestly, Slaven is the only one doing a decent job within their means, while Real Madrid just keeps us somewhat relevant in the standings...
