Raymond Hernandez14 said:Listen, that’s a solid cooler right there, so just grab it without thinking twice! I’ve actually had the chance to mess around with it while it was installed in a rig, and honestly, you’ve got nothing to worry about... plus, it's a Thermaltake, so I'm telling you, don't even hesitate, just go for it... And hey, northerncrane33, why don't you name just one "BETTER" option for the exact same price!!!
(just copy and paste this into your browser)
So, is that really the heatsink in question? It doesn't even have a heat pipe? For real?! Come on, Raymond Hernandez14, a Zalman would perform way better than that... I really hope you aren't basing your hardware choices on some buggy site or random tech blog reviews...🙂
If you ask me—and based on all the benchmarks I've been reading lately—that thing is just a total piece of junk...😈
The only reason anyone buys these is because kids get distracted by how flashy it looks and those digital temperature readouts...
I wouldn't bet on that... there is just no way in hell that the core is running at 770 while the memory hits 2380MHz... I mean, unless you happen to be looking at a model equipped with DDR5 😈 ... maybe?
Bryan Wood49 said:By the way, everyone... I actually went ahead and overclocked my graphics card too...😉 I have to admit, I’m feeling a little bit discouraged because this thing is running incredibly hot... that 8800 GTS just won't stop climbing in temperature... By the way, I’ve finally managed to get the clock speed up to... 770/1190 I think I meant MHz...🙄
No way... you're just pulling my leg...😈 Could you please send over a screenshot...?😁
Well, it’s certainly decent, though I have to say that Bryan Wood49 actually managed to pull a much higher score out of his e6700 🙂
I was just thinking that if he were to disable two of those cores, he might be able to push the overclocking even further... but then again, that wouldn't exactly be the most prudent move... especially since this little beauty isn't exactly cheap $2667 🙂
northerncrane33 said:Still no luck getting an answer.... I guess he just hit his absolute ceiling with that clock speed, what a bummer...🙂 I gave it a shot at 1.6V pushing for 3700MHz, but it just wouldn't budge....
I suspect you might have misconfigured those voltage settings, honestly... It could be the frame dimensions or maybe something else entirely... If you’re feeling a bit nervous about messing with the BIOS, just go ahead and wipe the CMOS clean to start fresh 🙂
EDIT:
Or, you know, you could always just sell the processor to someone on eBay and call it a day, which would certainly solve all your headaches once and for all 🙂
You could probably snag those 2 GB Kingmax sticks for about $450— $167 they aren't junk at all, you just have to have a little fun tinkering with them... personally, I’ve managed to hit 800MHz at 2.2V with 3-4-3-8 timings, then bumped it up to 875MHz using 4-4-4-12, and I even pushed them to 1005MHz with 5-5-5-18... honestly, that’s pretty solid performance, and while it might not win any hardcore enthusiast awards, it's more than enough for 99% of users out there 🙂
Man, those results you pulled are absolutely incredible... you really ought to sign up for PCPartPicker and post your records there because you'd easily be sitting at the top of the leaderboard among all the overclockers in the States 🙂
I totally believe you, I think I’d be feeling pretty confident hitting 4.2GHz myself too 😁 😁
This is absolutely wild!!! I’ve gotta know, what kind of voltage are you running, and what’s the actual frequency on those sticks? And please tell me you have the latency numbers too...
If you're looking at getting some Memu, honestly, just stick with Crucial Ballistix! It's the only way to go!
steelsailor3 said:I’ve only managed to hit 23,578 seconds😳 using my E6300@2 at 2.2GHz.
Honestly, those benchmark numbers don't really matter in the grand scheme of things... they're mostly just for showing off...😁
But hey, if you really want to push it, feel free to crank it up to 2.6GHz even with that basic stock cooler from Intel... though I wouldn't recommend it unless you're feeling brave...😉
1.5725V - it just won't respond to any more voltage... I honestly have no clue what's going on with it lately 🙂 For me, this feels like we're hitting the ceiling here. If we could somehow shave it down to 15.9 seconds, we might actually be able to push it toward 🙂
Just sitting here waiting to hear back from you guys 😁
