I'm looking for some wireless headphones to use with my TV (Samsung Neo QLED) and my laptop. They absolutely need onboard volume control. Since I’m sitting about 13 feet away from the TV, they have to be wireless. Is Best Buy the best bet for this?
If I were moderating, posts like that would be getting deleted instantly. You wouldn't even last five minutes before being banned. It’s all about holding everyone to the exact same standard.
The post that actually earned you a warning for "violating subforum rules" was this one:
So you’re just doubling down on the nonsense like usual, desperately digging yourself out of the hole you crawled into... ... And then you have all these "true believers" jumping down my throat, trying to find every possible excuse for why it's impossible or stupid. Look, it's stupid. I don't give a damn. Happy now? ... It's the same crap as the argument that it doesn't make sense for Elon Musk to risk entering scooter production. What kind of risk are we even talking about here? ... He'd be better off listening to you than me. Personally, I couldn't care less.
You put all of that in a single post—using gutter language and a level of hostility that isn't allowed here. You got a relatively minor warning for it (-30 points), and yet here you are complaining about it. 🤦 You're busy filing a mountain of reports, yet your own writing style ensures half your posts should probably end up flagged.
Where you use the exact same tone, something like: Honestly, his face is so thick you could use it as shielding for a nuclear power plant. Someone that ignorant shouldn't even be allowed in a debate, let alone acting like they're lecturing everyone else from a high horse.
You didn't get flagged for that one, despite writing like that constantly.
Meanwhile, besides the warning on the post above, the "contra" side also picked up this one—and that was only their third post using that exact same style on the same side: http://www.reddit.com/showpost.php?p=6...postcount=5438
Funny how you didn't report any of those three. Quite a coincidence, isn't it? 😬
I didn't see that report come through. It’s being handled now, so I’d appreciate it if you stopped digging up old grievances on this topic and dragging us back into the same tired arguments over and over again.
Jerry Robinson56, I’ve already stated my position, and frankly, I have no interest in descending to your level of discourse, which seems to sink lower with every single post you make. If you’re actually curious about my background: my mother passed away some time ago, I graduated from MIT sixteen years ago, maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA during my Master's program, and back in high school, I was a finalist in a global Natural Science competition. That should settle your amateur attempts at judging my technical literacy. As for your claims regarding bribery and kickbacks? Even for someone making "assessments" like yours, that’s a massive stretch. 🤦
I’m not sure if you’re even aware, but the Anti-Euro Association actually traces its roots back to this very Forum, right here in the Economics section, back when the moderators were just regular users like me and some other folks. I was even the one handing out instructions and links on how to draft the Association's first bylaws because I believed in that kind of grassroots organizing and legal collective action—even if, personally, I didn't side with the debtors. Back then, you didn't have a clue what the Anti-Euro Association was, and you probably hadn't even heard of this site. Given that context, your threats to pull every string possible to force the Forum to take action against this site are a total oxymoron, but hey, that's your call. Before you finally got slapped with that 500-point penalty, a mountain of your posts went unpunished, despite being written well below any standard of basic civility or culture. I stand by every single penalty I've issued. You seriously need to fix your attitude and stop the insults, otherwise, you won't be able to post here anymore. Man, you're getting flagged (and not even by me) even when you're trying to appeal unfair penalties.
Calm down. Nobody else claimed anyone was low-IQ here except you—that’s just your own narrative. And no, calling for someone to have their business license revoked isn't the same thing as calling a banker a bottom-feeder. Let's not forget how many times you've called for bankers to be thrown in prison; I think you've said plenty of that kind of stuff yourself. You haven't been slapped with a warning for it once. To me, this business of Alexander Thompson's is on the exact same level as your calls to lock up bankers. Neither of you has received a formal warning for those posts, though personally, I'd prefer if we didn't see that kind of rhetoric from anyone.
As for a permanent ban for Alexander Thompson, he definitely hasn't earned it yet. He's picked up quite a few warnings by now—three from me alone. He's been banned before, too, but in my opinion, it's not enough to justify a lifetime ban right now. We'll just have to see how things play out.
Hey Jerry Robinson56, Let’s be real for a second—how many warnings have you actually racked up stating that you won't be allowed to post in the Economy section unless you fix your attitude and stop the insults? Man, you have 25 pages of infractions on your profile. At this point, it’s easier to find a moderator who hasn't handed you a penalty than one who has. I’ve been on this forum since 1999, and I’ve moderated the Economy section for over a decade, but I don't think I've ever seen anyone carry 25 pages of strikes. You insult everyone in sight and act like the warnings and penalties don't even exist. You get banned for a few days, then pop back in without changing a single thing. None of your penalties are about your technical arguments—even if those are debatable—it’s strictly about your tone, your style, and how uncivilized you act. There's no question you know your stuff technically, but the Economy section isn't the only place where you're getting flagged. You've already got a track record in the Natural Science section, which is arguably your specialty. How does that happen? 😲 It looks like you just refuse to follow even the most basic rules of communication. Personally, it's a shame you can't present your arguments in a civilized way.
Both of you need to stop trolling. These interest rates aren't predatory; the data in that link is seven years out of date. You’re basically having a philosophical debate about something that doesn't even exist anymore.
Andrew Gomez40 said:The guy is decent enough, but I’m just not feeling it. He’s definitely not headliner material. It feels like Britons and their typical hype machine are trying to manufacture a megastar out of thin air.
What do you mean he isn't? He’s selling out major arenas across Europe and playing almost every major festival. Given how the final lineup looks, he’s actually the first name listed for Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
(1) A business practice is considered misleading if it contains inaccurate information, making it untruthful, or if it otherwise—including through its overall presentation, even if the information is factually correct—misleads or is likely to mislead an average consumer regarding any of the circumstances listed in paragraph 2 of this section, thereby inducing or likely to induce them to make a purchase decision they otherwise would not have made.
(2) The circumstances from paragraph 1 of this section to which a misleading business practice refers are: 4. The price of the product, the method by which it was calculated, or the existence of a specific benefit in relation to the price.
The issue here is that most Americans just blame themselves, which is exactly why market players get away with this kind of behavior. I’ll go ahead and report them to the FTC, then let them try explaining to some judge how it’s actually my own fault.
Does it not say right there on the back of the festival pass that there are no refunds? The terms are clearly laid out, so what are you even whining about? You can return a single-day ticket, but not the full festival pass. You did the math, you missed the mark, and now you're acting like everyone else is the problem instead of your own choices.
Andrew Gomez40 said:So, who exactly are we talking about here? The fifty-somethings?
Your typical American extremist—there’s absolutely no middle ground with them. 😬 If you ask me, most of the crowd at Coachella falls right in that 25 to 30 age bracket. You don't see many students dominating the scene—mostly because once ticket prices climb, the student demographic loses its edge. It’s primarily working professionals out there now. 😁 Don't even get me started on high schoolers; they basically don't show up to concerts anymore. $117...or they're just vanishingly rare.
rustyharbor2 said:restlesslynx3 - solid math there. It’s hard to imagine an island setting like this could actually pull in over 30k people, but if they did, we're looking at a sell-out generating something like 30,000 * $40 = $1.2 million. Even after a 13% tax hit, they'd be sitting on a massive pile of cash. Just The Black Keys alone probably command $700k-$800k 🙂 so if you want to book three or four heavy hitters, just imagine what Florence + The Machine is pulling right now. Given all the buzz this year, she’s going to be headlining the biggest festivals of her career.
Don't get carried away. 😁 No festival in the States—let alone anything else—has ever paid anyone anywhere near those numbers. What are you thinking? You just laid out a "best-case scenario" for revenue, but in reality, you can't pay artists those kinds of sums.
Garo, let’s be real here. Your topic was provocative and trolling from the very first second. If I hadn't been busy, I would have reported this and had it deleted before it even reached the point of being offensive. If people holding Frank aren't given their own dedicated threads to start discussions, I don't see why you think anyone else gets a free pass to stir the pot.
Chris Roberts8 said:I've been circling back to this topic lately. I was reading up on that Bruce Springsteen show in Boston back in '94—anyone here actually make it to that one?
I wasn't there, but the gig went down at Madison Square Garden and word is it was a total spectacle. The whole city was pitch black, shells were landing right around MSG, and you've got this guy just beltng out 🙂 🙂 😈
Rock has basically become shorthand for "music" in the broadest sense. The early episodes are easily the most compelling because they’re packed with those obscure little details, though let's be honest—they're also pretty confusing, likely because there just isn't enough authentic footage to go on. That last episode about the war was totally unnecessary; looks like Sefic and his crew were just pushing an agenda.
