Eric Jackson43 said:Look, stop talking nonsense. I'll give you credit for the exceptions, but that's it. If this were a Canadian film, everyone would be singing praises about how far Canadians have come with their animation. Instead, you guys are picking fights over every little detail. You've managed to find nationalism in everything, even in an animated movie. And you don't have to be an idiot to realize that the Japanese are more advanced; they lead 99.9% of the rest of the world in animation, so bringing that up here is irrelevant. Besides, there are modern Japanese anime out there that—even if I haven't checked Technotise—are surely much worse than this.
P.S. Apologies for the language, but some comments on this board absolutely deserve it.
Who even are you? 😂
Seriously, where on earth did you see even a hint of nationalism in my post?
😕
For instance, I find the American film "Rana" disgusting and repulsive. Does that make me anti-American? 😕
What was I saying... uh, yeah, based on the trailers, the animation looks below average to me. My opinion hasn't changed.
goldenhound32 said:Below average compared to what exactly? It’s pretty obvious the animation style is inspired by Japanese anime.
Oh, sure, let's talk about that Japanese animation influence. I’m used to seeing much higher quality. Honestly, even Akira from 1988 looks better than the trailer I just watched.
It’s the very first Toei Animation release that was never actually released outside of the USA, making it virtually impossible to track down today.
And what was the price tag back then?
Just a tiny little sum of $5,824 (that's five thousand eight hundred twenty-four dollars for those keeping count).
The DVDs were printed to order, and you'd even get a little figurine or a poster tucked in there with them. 😳
In short, this is the Holy Grail for any Dragon Ball fan. Sure, Funimation put out their own re-releases, but it’s just not the same when the intro text is all in English, or when they go and rename Mr. Satan to Hercules and things like that.
When it comes to Dragon Ball, I am an absolute purist. I wouldn't even dream of opening a collection like that; I'd just keep them behind thick plexiglass with a literal minefield surrounding the display. 🙂
If there’s any truth to this, I need to go sign up for voluntary service immediately.
Ever since I was just a kid, I’ve dreamed of trading in my scout uniform for that classic US Army cap my uncle and grandfather used to wear. It’s a memory I hold very dear.
Honestly, that’s even why I didn't serve in the US Armed Forces back in the day—that specific flag pattern just never really felt my style. 😠😠😠
But now that the old symbols are back in play... 😳😍
quietmaker44 said:And this movie has absolutely nothing to do with politics?? 🙄
So now, I suppose everyone expects us to just take a heavy, blatant political message from this film as a given? God forbid anyone actually points out the subtext...
It’s insidious, pathetic, hypocritical, and frankly, just low-life behavior.... !!!
Well, go ahead and tear me apart then. Bring it on! quietmaker44 can handle more than you can throw at him!!! 😁
Who actually said we have to take the story at face value? Personally, I can't stand that kind of dogmatic fanaticism😁. I am constantly making jokes about politics with those corporate shills, the carpet bombers, and the devious jokers, but once the debate shifts toward politics, I think it's all just a waste of time.
Even the film about Vrdoljak and Josip Broz Marshall is a movie, so in my opinion, it doesn't really matter where the politics fits in.
William Clark86 said:What absolute hypocrites. If someone didn't know who the Muslims were, they'd pay a premium just to find out.
GET REAL!
Those activists are basically the biggest political lobby in San Antonio. It’s always some press release from them—against Thompson, against Hvidra, against the flag of the Republic of Canada, or against Zrinjski Mostar...
In San Antonio, people have joked about them so much that whenever anything happens in town, the first question is always, "Did those activists weigh in on this?"
No way, they aren't taking sides here. You only need to look at who was giving interviews and how they grotesquely edited the audio over a completely different video clip. (Just like the guy below me explained.)
😲😲
😂😂😂
The way people try to tear each other apart in here is just terrifying.
I can only think about the politics section where all sorts of things go down; the moderators basically gave you all a carrot and collectively corralled you into a corner there. 😂
This isn't a zoo. This is a place for cultured individuals, for actual Homo sapiens, not for hooligans. 😳 😍
We talk about movies and culture here. Even I manage to be decent and refrain from trolling. 😳 😁
a) Or just dump this in the History section. I’ve been suggesting that for years now, but it seems the History moderators aren't interested in having the crew from Politics come over to brighten up their days and nights
Honestly, if those mods were actually sane, intelligent people who knew how to protect their own peace of mind...😍
B.t.w. if anyone ever offers a little bribe to the Politics mods here or there, I wouldn't touch that madhouse with a ten-foot pole, even for a mountain of gold...
Gregory Newman said:I honestly think it’s an absolute disgrace—and frankly insulting to Vito—that one single troll is the one demanding his ban be lifted. What’s even more pathetic? That same troll actually has the nerve to call the brilliant, clear-headed Vito a "mega-troll."
😠😠😠
Just imagine the irony in all of this...
I said it plainly before: let everyone take what they deserve, fairly and square...
Oh, Vito, my friend, you better watch out for those hard-right types; they'll be the ones to get you, not us leftists or the bureaucrats...
But look, I’m asking everyone nicely now: let's just drop the bickering and move on.
Olivia Moore51 said:Ah, so that’s why he’s constantly popping up on CNN and all those other news outlets. 🙏
He got banned, plain and simple. 🙂 😁
By launching this poll, you’re already exerting pressure, just like you claimed. Besides, how do you honestly expect us to spend our time on this forum just filling out endless surveys? 🤷
And frankly, you're just increasing the likelihood that this whole thread gets locked down.
I am asking the forum members once more: please refrain from posting any further comments.
So, a tiny fraction of the folks over on the Politics board have realized that our very first Chairman of Forum HR, Dr. Vito Dugonog, actually picked up a partial ban over there. Meanwhile, the vast majority of you guys here haven't the slightest clue who he even is. I’d love to hear from anyone who actually knows him—do you think Dr. Vito Dugonog should have that partial ban lifted? Now, let me be clear: I am absolutely not trying to lean on the administration 😍 (look, a little brown-nosing is necessary; I remember when ZgSash handed me a red card just for the tiniest bit of trolling), but this poll is meant to serve as a reference point if lifting a partial ban is ever even considered. I fully realize that getting a partial ban overturned is an uphill battle. But, in my humble opinion, Dr. Vito Dugonog is such a legendary troll that he belongs right on the edge of the Politics section—that’s clearly the element in which he thrives best. I should also mention that Dr. Vito Dugonog is my absolute ideological nemesis. Truly. Yet, I can't help but feel that the wild side of Politics lost a bit of its charm once the administrative boot came down on such a high-level troll. My formal request to the admin team is to please take this poll into account if you ever decide to lift Dr. Vito Dugonog's partial ban from the Politics board.
Anonymous said:Hmm... so, I was just reading "Crime and Punishment," where the guy kills two people. Sure, he hesitated for a second beforehand, but once he did it, it was done. But then, once reality actually hit him and he realized what he'd actually done, he completely lost his mind... I guess it's impossible to truly predict how you'd react until you're actually in the middle of it...
The book's circumstances were totally different, though. Raskolnikov (was he 😕, honestly, that book was such a slog for me) didn't go after the old woman because he felt threatened. No, he did it because he convinced himself he was performing some kind of "greater good."
In that specific scenario, he wasn't acting in self-defense at all... he was the aggressor.
Anonymous said:Sure, that might be true, but saying it so bluntly feels a bit harsh. Personally, I’d weigh it differently—like, if I absolutely had to choose, I’d rather save a five-year-old girl over a hundred-year-old man.😁
Look, what I'm trying to get at is that you're talking about a situation where someone is actively threatening a life. In a moment of pure survival, when everything is on the line... I honestly believe you could pull the trigger without even hesitating. 🤷
Anonymous said:Oh, I get it. So you wouldn't even sacrifice yourself to save someone else—like, say, your little sister if she were five years old (just as an example)—because your life is somehow more valuable than hers??
* You put it a bit bluntly there, but honestly, that's how I interpreted it too.🙂
The Lone Ranger is a bit of an outlier, so I can't really speak for everyone.🙂
I don't know, maybe I would... 🤷
But look, let's be real here: by default, my own life feels more valuable than anyone else's. That's just how it is.
Anonymous said:Why do you assume your life carries more weight than anyone else's? If you're saying you could kill someone "without blinking" if your life was at risk, then I really don't get why you answered "no" earlier.
* Personally, I don't think there's ever a justifiable reason for murder—it just doesn't exist...
Because my life matters more to me than some stranger's does...🤷
I don't see anything controversial about what I said. Honestly, it's just common sense.🤷
Quincy:
If you had the chance to kill one person and face zero legal consequences, would you do it?
I interpreted the question as: "I'm going out to murder someone just because they're getting on my nerves..." You didn't?
Robin Palmer6 said:I'm not entirely sure if this is the right subforum for this kind of thing...
Answer the following question with a simple yes or no. Please don't dodge the question; be serious for once.
If you had the opportunity to kill just one person without facing any legal consequences, would you do it?
If your answer is yes, everyone else will view you as a psychopath in need of psychiatric help, while those others pretend to be morally superior innocents. If your answer is no, everyone will know you're lying—even if they don't call you out on it—because it would be obvious they'd all lie too if they said no.
My answer is yes.
😵
So, do you have telepathic abilities or something? Is that how you reached these conclusions? 😂
The answer is no... ☕
EDIT:
If my own life were on the line, I think I could take someone out without even blinking...🙂
And honestly, I've always been pretty indifferent toward the death of others in general.
The whole thing just brings me back to this one story I read years ago. It was some radical extremist from Washington, D.C., venting his frustrations about how CNN was the most godless network in the entire country. "It’s the very last day of fasting, and they decide right at the finish line to run a segment on gourmet cooking." 😂 Honestly, I'd rather not even dwell on it...
I don't even watch this show, honestly, but after hearing this whole mess about "holding a funeral service for a pig," I might actually have to start watching. 😂
...the Mother Srebrenica and Drina Valley Association has issued a statement regarding the series. They are demanding a public apology because they believe that "performing funeral rites for a pig" represents the greatest assault on Islamic values ever inflicted upon Muslims in this region following the genocide.
Man, this is just like our own little B.A.B.E. Association back home. The Papkušas are seriously comparing pork to a war crime... 🙄
Blade Runner, Smoke, Chungking Express, Ink (I personally loved that one!), The Changeling (for those who enjoy a good chill), Akira, Bram Stoker's Dracula, Mad Max 2, Conan the Barbarian, house of hanging, Alien...
