Kenneth Cruz67 said:Here is yet another table that, if you think about it, might actually be the only thing that truly matters in this whole discussion, and once again, we see Lewis Hamilton sitting right at the very top!

1 Lewis Hamilton - $489 Million.
2 Michael Schumacher - $464 Million. ...
3 Fernando Alonso - $458 Million. ...
4 Sebastian Vettel - $358 Million. ...
5 Kimi Räikkönen - $331 Million. ...
6 Jenson Button - $147 Million. ...
7 Ralf Schumacher - $121 Million. ...
8 Jacques Villeneuve - $115 Million. ...

If we’re going by this kind of logic, Michael Jordan is basically a massive flop in the basketball world because his entire career earnings don't even touch what some players pull in during a single six-year contract lately. It's wild.

By that same ridiculous standard, Al Horford is somehow 2.02 times "better" than MJ just because his paycheck is so much bigger: https://www.basketball-reference.com...horfoal01.html
Kenneth Cruz67 said:Well, I suppose that might be true, but

If you look closer, Lewis really outclassed Button in qualifying, especially since Lewis managed to grab pole positions throughout the year while Button didn't, and even when Button wasn't grabbing podiums, Lewis was usually still finishing quite respectably, so there is a bit more to the story than just those numbers.

In fact, I believe the only drivers who really managed to push Lewis aside that year were Felipe Massa in Singapore, Monaco, Silverstone, India, and Japan.

Does anyone else happen to remember that stretch? :zubo

I honestly can't imagine why it would be so incredibly difficult to wrap one's head around a simple table with maybe seven or eight columns.🤔

So, all those killer qualifying sessions didn't actually turn into anything useful—no points, no movement in the standings, nothing. It’s like he had exactly as much luck as Valtteri Bottas did today... which is to say, absolutely zero. Just total bust.

That’s just straight-up cap, honestly. Like, let's look at the actual numbers here. Jenson Button’s absolute worst finish was 6th place—he did that three times. Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton is out here grabbing 8th and 7th places, and somehow his fans act like those are "solid finishes." But if Jenson pulls a 4th or a 6th? Suddenly everyone's acting like he's nowhere to be found. It's wild how people twist things like that!

Honestly, if anyone tries to tell me that Mercedes hasn't been the most convincingly dominant car ever, they seriously need to check if there's anything actually going on inside their head. Just so we’re clear, I’m pulling for Mercedes.
Man, I don't even know why I root for this team anymore... 🤦

Let's go, Perez!! This guy falls all the way to last place behind that absolute clown Leclerc, then somehow bounces back to first, while Alexander Albon is out here struggling just to claw his way up from 12th to 6th. 🙄
graniteharbor502 said:What relevance does a link comparing two drivers based on arbitrary criteria hold when the primary metric should undoubtedly be the total number of points earned? When placed in the exact same car during the same season, Jenson Button actually holds 43 more points. Nuff said.

If we are talking strictly about results, then yes, that is true. However, is it not also true that he was fortunate enough to pilot the most dominant machine in history for seven consecutive seasons? Even during those seven years, he still managed to lose a championship to a driver who had never been a world champion before. That certainly gives one pause when considering the claim that he is the greatest of all time...

Plus, if you look at the podiums, Jenson hit them twice as often as Hamilton did that year (12 for Jenson vs. just 6 for Lewis).
ruggedhawk20 said:Look, Alain Prost wasn't carried to his '86 title either

And neither Schumacher 1995 both

Both those titles were won in the second best (for Schumacher) or third best (for Prost) car of the season.

Yeah, true. But if you look at the last 70 F1 seasons, the championship wasn't won by the fastest car only nine times. Just nine!
Kenneth Cruz67 said:It honestly seems like an energized George Russell really just highlights how incredibly composed Lewis Hamilton is, since he's driving at precisely the right pace to stay ahead of the game😁

And, I suppose, it also goes to show what a total disappointment of a driver Valtteri Bottas can be sometimes

Honestly, it's so obvious. Lewis could probably drop his lap times by a full minute if he actually felt like pushing—I’m talking sub-48 second laps at a place like Spa—but he just doesn't want to. He’s really just doing the bare minimum to get the job done, you know? Like, why even bother going full throttle if you don't have to? There's just no point in overdriving when you're already cruising. 404 mileslol if 350 is actually enough... maybe? idk man. 👍

darkmarlin16 said:Well, yeah, but let's not forget his teammate is literally the unluckiest driver on the grid this year. They're actually neck-and-neck in the standings.

Man, he just went and slammed right into the wall in Russia on his own accord. Seriously. That’s way more of a disaster than any of those DNFs Max has had lately—and let's be real, none of those were even his fault! Or look at Perez... man, that guy is just cursed this season. It's like he's haunted or something.
Kenneth Cruz67 said:I feel like Lando Norris just seems to be sliding backward with every passing season and every single race, so I guess they really ought to consider dropping him and bringing Sergio Pérez back into the seat instead.

From season to season? Man, give me a break! This is only his second year in the seat and he’s actually driving way better than last time around. Plus, if you look at the stats, he’s outperforming his teammate in pretty much every major category.
Classic move, keeping Vettel out in the pits way longer than necessary...
darkmarlin16 said:For crying out loud, pass me a Budweiser!

I mean, seriously, why on earth would you watch a stream—completely ad-free—instead of those trashy TV shows? Like, what are you even thinking?
Dana Murphy4 said:I guess Charles Leclerc might be dealing with some significant mental struggles lately, because when you ruin a race for yourself, you inevitably end up messing things up for everyone else too, and it feels like this isn't even the first time we've seen this happen.

Seriously though, that’s like the seventh time this has gone down in just two seasons. It's actually tragic to watch.
silverviper44 said:George Russell takes fastest lap.

Who was it that claimed the driver actually matters??

Forget the driver. It’s all about the car, the car, the car, and then maybe—just maybe—the driver.

Oh, sure, because the car is just *so* important (and definitely comes before the driver). I mean, if that were actually true, George Russell would be out there grabbing P1 or P2 in that Williams Racing whip. Or Charles Leclerc would be winning everything again this year just like he did last season. Or... [insert endless list here]

shadowmarlin22 said:Honestly, screw it all—Brawn Rosberg and Schumacher built everything 🤦
Let’s just look at the facts for a second...

Back when those three were running the Mercedes, there wasn't any real progress—they were sitting 4th, 4th, 5th in the standings, basically sliding backward every single year. The first year they brought in Wolff and Lewis, they jumped straight to second place, and then eventually became champions—though, let's be real, they didn't turn it all around in just one season.
Obviously, they probably hit their peak dominance this year because I'm guessing Brawn developed the foundation seven years ago and they finally cracked the code now. 🤣🤣🤣
Tibi, seriously, go get some help.

Look, they didn't build it all from scratch, but they definitely moved the needle in the right direction to make Mercedes become this absolute powerhouse. Even Toto Wolff says so (and hey, maybe he's the one who actually needs help given how much he repeats himself):

Mercedes-Benz motorsport boss Toto Wolff has described Michael Schumacher as the "founding father" of his team's huge Formula 1 success, on the seven-time world champion's 50th birthday.

"Michael is one of the founding fathers of the success we have had in the last five years," said Wolff.

"There is no other driver like him and his vast experience contributed tremendously in the development of our team.

"He played a crucial role when we rejoined F1 and was One of The People Who laid The foundation for Our futur success. We're extremely grateful for everything he did for us."

https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/s...wolff/4318884/

He basically says the exact same thing every time someone brings up how dominant Mercedes is. It’s in every interview, every single podcast.
Amanda Kelly said:I don't see how those blunders in the Mercedes pit lane actually changed anything today.
Not a damn thing, if you ask me.

Everything was pretty much set in stone before that even happened. You can't just erase 60 laps of Russell dominating the field. Or, to put it another way, those final 20 or 30 laps—and the eventual result—don't change the fact that Russell was absolutely crushing it all weekend long.
With a Mercedes car this good, you could drop in some rookie who hasn't scored a single point in his last 35 races and he’d likely take the win. He’d be paid about what a benchwarmer on a bottom-tier MLS team makes. Give him a day or two to get used to the seat, and he's golden.

Mercedes really screwed Lewis over. Not specifically today, though. They did that the moment they decided someone else was stepping into his seat for this race. You could see how that test would play out from the very beginning.

Lewis shouldn't have let himself get too comfortable with the crown. A pro at his level really should have seen that coming.

But hey, that's kind of the whole point of Formula 1, right? It’s a constructors' championship, not a driver's trophy hunt. The goal is to build the fastest machine possible so that any driver on the grid could jump in and cruise to a victory.
At the end of the day, the big money follows the constructors' standings and the team title. The drivers' championship is cool for the prestige and the bragging rights, sure, but it brings exactly $0.00 in direct prize money to the team that wins it.

So, let me just repeat myself here:

Alex Barnes93 said:BREAKING NEWS: Reddit just dropped a massive bombshell—turns out Formula 1 is actually a constructors' championship, meaning the fastest car wins regardless of who’s behind the wheel.

More details coming your way soon...
coastalwolf6 said:Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc.

🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

So, what do you think, oh wise one with your "superior" vision—what should Max have done there? Come on, spill some of that legendary racing wisdom of yours.

Meanwhile, Carlos Sainz going up against Valtteri Bottas really proves he's ready for Ferrari, because man, seeing an experienced driver show that kind of rookie mistake? That’s a rare sight, I tell ya.
Man, what is Charles Leclerc even doing? Seriously, he’s been pulling this same nonsense for two whole seasons now. And then you got people out here claiming he's actually better than Max? Give me a break, lol 🤣 Perez is just stuck in this absolute nightmare of a slump 😢

Kenneth Cruz67 said:I guess it looks like Max just slammed right into the wall for absolutely no reason at all 🙏🙏🙏

Well, if by "for no reason" you mean "Charles Leclerc plowed straight into him and Perez," then yeah, you hit the nail on the head.
Kenneth Cruz67 said:I was recently catching up on a documentary about how Mercedes-Benz handles their marketing and team finances, specifically diving into some of those clever financial maneuvers Toto Wolff pulls off.

Watching the coverage on Sky just now actually reminded me that we’re looking at a budget cap of $145 million next year.

So, I guess if you take all that math, add it all up, and then factor in Lewis Hamilton's salary, next season might just turn into an absolute bloodbath.🥱

Driver salaries don't count toward the cap.
coastalwolf6 said:Something like that. 👍 But significantly better.

Max has become an expert on hitting walls. 😉

Seriously though, he's such an "expert" that he's actually got fewer wall hits in his career than Lewis—go ahead and do the math yourself if you don't believe me, just look at the average per 100 races.
coastalwolf6 said:True enough.

But only if you count his close encounters with the walls. 🤣

Like Lewis Hamilton in Germany back in 2019, right? Honestly, if you're gonna try and butcher my sentence and twist my words just to change the context, maybe check your vision first. You clearly aren't seeing the full picture here.
Kenneth Cruz67 said:And it’s almost like Max is somehow superior 🤣

He isn't exactly playing it safe just because he's realized that no matter how wild he drives, he can't outrun a Mercedes. If he actually caught a break to go for it, I suspect he’d still be charging headfirst into a wall. I don't think he's learned his lesson at all, 👍

Look, Max is hands down the best driver on the grid right now in every single way. That whole "head through a wall" thing... I mean, maybe someone would do that in a video game, but anyone who thinks he'd actually pull that stunt in real life clearly isn't watching Formula 1.

And just to set the record straight—I'm a Mercedes fan through and through when it comes to the team. As for the drivers? Honestly, I don't care who's behind the wheel as long as Mercedes is pulling in the kind of results they usually do (though definitely not this current clown show we're seeing lately) ☕
