Starting an LLC: Where to begin? in Business, Accounting & Taxes ·
Awesome, thanks so much for all the help! 🙂

I’m planning to give HP Inc. a call tomorrow. If I can work out some decent shipping rates with them, I'm officially diving into the business side of things. 🙂

It’s a bit of a balancing act trying to stay on top of my bills when I’m working with just 20 $0.00. Right now, about 10 $0.00 is tied up in inventory, another 5,000 goes straight into the website, and there's just a tiny bit left over for ads. It isn't that I'm dodging my responsibilities; I just need to push things back a couple of months. Starting a business is like trying to get a heavy flywheel spinning—it's always the hardest part at the beginning.

My bad, I realized I got the math wrong—corporate tax is actually 20%, not 14%.🙂
How am I supposed to count payroll costs $1100?? It feels like half of it just goes straight to the IRS, while the rest stays in my pocket, right?$583

Is there any way I could act as the director of my own company but hire a student through an internship agreement to avoid those extra payroll taxes?

How much would the government hit me with in penalties if I skip out on employer contributions during the startup phase? I’d rather wait until things stabilize before paying up.

@Donna Jones26—I don't even have separate utility bills for this. I was thinking about just registering the business at my apartment.

Hey there,
I'm looking into starting my own business. I'm estimating my annual revenue will be around $130 $0.00, with expenses sitting at about $71 $0.00 (keep in mind this doesn't include payroll or taxes
).
If I’ve got my math right, here is how the tax situation looks:

12 months x $583(health and medicare insurance) = $21 $0.00
Sales Tax 23% = $4500
Corporate Income Tax at 14% (leaving me with 24 $0.00 net) = $1120
That leaves me with a clean $21 $200 minus whatever I pay my accountant
If I set up as a sole proprietorship under the sales tax system, would everything stay the same except for that income tax rate (14%), or am I missing some other variable in the mix?
Verizon is acquiring AT&T in Economy ·
I honestly can’t wrap my head around people who go on these huge rants about carriers having overpriced plans.🙄
Nobody is forcing your hand here; you’re the one signing the contract. Just please don't come at me saying you signed an agreement thinking texts were pennies when they were actually charging you a buck per message.

Right now, I’m with T-Mobile. I get 100 texts, 512MB of data, and 300 free minutes ($0.08 just to start the call), and my bill comes out to $37.

Before this, I was over at Verizon and I really messed up, but that was entirely on me.😉
Importing from China in Business, Accounting & Taxes ·
Hey there,
I'm looking into ordering some mobile units from China. Everything looks straightforward on their website, and they'll handle the ocean freight.
The total value of the shipment is roughly $6667, and I’d be running this through my business. Does that mean I can claim a tax refund, and does anyone know what a typical shipping agent might charge for these services?
Also, any idea how long things usually sit at customs while the paperwork gets sorted out?
Starting a small business in Business, Accounting & Taxes ·
Hey there,
I’m looking to start a small business, but I feel like I've hit a massive dead end here.😢
I stopped by a local CNN office to get some guidance, but they basically just handed me a flyer listing ten steps I need to take. Apparently, step one is waiting on CNN to provide certain forms and specific data.🙄

Quick question: can I just grab a background check from the local police station, or am I going to have to trek all the way down to the county courthouse?
Also, can I launch a sole proprietorship without having my high school diploma in hand yet? I've only got about a month left of classes, but I really need to get this business off the ground ASAP.
The plan is to rent out toys for kids. From what I've gathered, I don't actually need any special permits or licenses for something like that, right?
Nicole Lee4 said:It’s funny how the postal service works sometimes. If you’re sending out a standard package, they hit you with that return shipping fee, but if you just send something via certified mail, they don't charge you for the return. It’s one of those little quirks of the system.
Nothing's actually gone up in price, at least not from what I can see.

They haven't charged me for the last 15 days.🤷
Has the postage rate gone up lately?
I sent out a COD package (standard fee was $5.50), but when the customer refused to pay, they actually went to my old 5-$2.75😕
house to collect it.
Hey there,
is there any way to track mail sent within the US?
When I get a tracking number on my receipt, I try typing it into the USPS website, but nothing comes up for me.🤷
How do I ship a cell phone?
Can I just toss it in a bubble mailer, or is that asking for trouble? 😕
So, what's the best way to pack up a phone box?
Requesting a permanent ban, please in Forum Help! ·
If someone gets hit with a permanent ban, does the account just get wiped after a while, or is it stuck here forever?

Quick question for you guys...🙂
My sister just started her own small business, and up until now, she’s only been sourcing all her inventory locally here in the States. Now, she’s looking into ordering some bulk shipments from China, but she’s feeling a bit lost on how the whole process actually works.

If anyone here has some experience dealing with imports, shoot me a DM
Thanks🙂
How should I go about packing up my package?
Sandra Brooks91 said:Package delivery info = $1.75 http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gi...3711376&ref=ts

$4.00 They actually padded the total value, those crooks.😠
Nicole Cooper72 said:I sent off a package today, and it cost me about twelve bucks and change—maybe $12.70? Pretty much the same as the last few times I've done it...

No, they didn't charge her at the Post Office counter. It was actually the mail carrier who collected the extra cash right at the doorstep.🤷
Hey everyone, has anyone noticed any changes with USPS lately?😕
I've already had two different customers reach out to me today saying they ended up being charged more than the amount we actually agreed on. Anyone know what's going on there?😢
It all comes down to the seller, really. We can't ever be 100% sure if someone is trying to pull a fast one on you or not.🤷
