I can't help but wonder what's actually hiding "behind the curtain."

You will find out sooner or later when your time comes (no one has managed to skip that part yet). In the meantime, through a clumsy suicide prevention awareness mistake, you could ruin everything—becoming wealthy, ending up in a vegetative state, or worse. It isn't worth destroying the rest of your life just to satisfy mere curiosity.
Waking Life in Movies ·
I found myself in the mood for this movie again today, so I sat down to watch it this afternoon. 🙂

It really is a fantastic film. It’s such a shame they don't make movies like this much more often nowadays...

Furthermore, I find it quite curious how such narratives—much like the whimsical tales of Santa Claus—fail to diminish in relevance once a child moves past their early preschool years. 🤔

They serve a specific purpose. 🙂

It is much easier to endure hardship when you believe a heavenly reward awaits you. Similarly, dealing with injustice becomes more manageable if you imagine those who wronged you facing judgment in hell. 😁

There are authentic Zen stories, and then there are those simply attributed to a Zen master... 🕺 😁

They eventually die off, and they won't have anything to do with you anyway...

That is certainly true, but one has to wonder if a clone possesses a soul and what becomes of them after death. 🤔

The rapid advancement of medicine, science, and technology inevitably challenges our most deeply held beliefs...

😢

Perhaps in some distant future, we will see people cultivating clones just like they do in the movies. The Island They would have exploited their organs for their own gain.

I wonder what religions and various spiritual organizations will make of cloning. 🤔 Will clones possess souls as well? 🤔

If I were to clone myself ten times, what exactly becomes of those clones once I pass away? 🤔

There is enough potential here to write a truly compelling sci-fi or fantasy novel. 🙂

I’ve actually been thinking about how we might preserve our DNA somewhere—perhaps they could reconstruct us once the technology catches up. My only concern is that our raw, unedited genetic code, with all its inherent flaws and imperfections, might not be particularly high-quality material for future generations to work with.🤔 😁

No one actually knows for sure.

Perhaps after this life, you'll become me or someone else—maybe even the most annoying person on this forum. 😁

If you actually manage to restore their humanity... well, then you've earned some serious prestige. 🧐

It would be wonderful if we actually possessed that kind of power! 😍

Someone loses their temper and—poof—they grow a little pig tail! 😍 😁

It’s incredibly hard to spot functional psychopaths in the wild—most regular people wouldn't even realize they're dealing with one, and honestly, a lot of them don't even know they fit the profile themselves.

If empathy is underdeveloped, interpersonal relationships will inevitably suffer. Common sense simply cannot substitute for empathy, since our emotions often defy logic. At our core, we are highly emotional and irrational beings.

One only needs to look at the challenges faced by individuals with mild autism who are otherwise fully integrated into society—educated, intelligent, and successful in their careers. They often struggle to grasp why someone might take offense, because, logically speaking, there is no reason to. This frequently places a significant demand on those around them to provide extra patience and understanding.

Honestly, though, I’m glad. It would be a little too surreal around here without you.

😁

I need to perform some sort of counter-spell, though I suspect this will all fade away once I find something more engaging than these forums to occupy my mind. 😁

Joseph Bailey41 said:You just reminded me... where is the Witch? He really had a gift.

He made a dramatic exit after using some magic to tie me to this forum with a pink ribbon. 😢

He was quite a rarity, though. Men rarely possess that kind of talent. Most women have at least a little bit of it. 🙂

Has anyone seen the movie yet? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

It actually turned out much better than I anticipated. In my opinion, you shouldn't view it as a direct sequel to the original; instead, treat it as its own standalone story that barely feels connected to the first one. Since the cast speaks English, it doesn't really carry that traditional East Asian atmosphere. I also read that they filmed it in New Zealand, so you don't see any typical Asian landscapes either. The plot is quite straightforward, featuring plenty of action sequences, martial arts, and flight scenes, all wrapped up with a happy ending. It’s perfectly fine for some light entertainment, though it doesn't leave a particularly deep emotional impact.

Joseph Bailey41 said:I agree. Sometimes you can channel them or direct that energy... other times, you just have to sit back and watch them pass. Whatever you do, just remember—they always pass.

Women tend to grasp this much more intuitively. Because of our hormonal makeup, we possess a far more grounded and realistic understanding of how the human body and physical reality actually function. Men—especially those who lack sensitivity—often rely too heavily on the illusion of control and lose themselves in abstract concepts. They simply lack the "grounding" that comes naturally to us. 🙂 That is why men can never be a Witch. 😉

Joseph Bailey41 said:Oh, right. 😁

I wouldn't know anything about that. My cat is currently busy experiencing her own version of "divine union" by snuggling against my chest, so I guess I'll just try to empathize with her. It’s kind of like secondhand smoke.

I envy you. 😢

Petting a cat is one of those rare joys that can brighten even the gloomiest days of our human existence. 😢

On topic:

Emotions are physical experiences. We might only truly be free of them once we pass away. Extreme emotions are exhausting and inevitably lead to their own opposites. It is better to maintain a steady vibration around the center. 🙂

😁

I'm feeling a bit melancholic...

But I shouldn't be expressing that here, since we're supposed to be "cleansing ourselves of emotion" or "finding ecstasy in merging with the divine." 😁

goldenjackal6 said:We’re still sitting on the sidelines, maybe a few million years away from actual transcendence.

Despite what everyone wants to believe, humans are basically just primitive pack animals with some pretty half-baked reasoning skills. The only thing making us look sophisticated to the outside world is our toolkit—specifically language and technology.

The ability of a human being to grasp the nature of existence is about the same as a blade of grass trying to comprehend the human brain. 🧐

Though, perhaps that isn't even true... Who knows... Nick doesn't know anything... Knowledge is fragile... (As they used to say on this forum. 😁 )

Lisa Jackson7 said:Yeah... it's not even necessary, what's the point...

When it comes to personalized religions, I've been an advocate for that for ages—let everyone pick whatever fits them best, design their own thing, or just ignore the whole mess entirely. Just like bodies aren't one-size-fits-all, minds aren't either, so there's zero sense in forcing one standard on everyone.

That might be spirituality or a worldview... religion and morality can't just be "private phenomena," even if certain faiths keep splintering off endlessly.

Belief, behavior, and belonging ("believe, behave, belong") are the core pillars of any religion...

If we set aside the element of faith, then behavior and belonging are actually common traits found in any group or community, including this forum...
