That doesn't even meet basic scientific standards. You need an actual sample group before you start throwing data around. ☕

EDIT: Seriously though, did listening to Vuca actually fix any of your deep-seated issues or what? 🙂

Anyone actually run any tests yet? ☕

Man, I was really banking on my suggestion taking the win when they were sitting just one point shy. Of course, I could’ve just thrown him a vote myself, but I didn't want anyone thinking the whole thing was rigged. 🙂

Can I still throw some suggestions in, or should I just hold off until next week? 🙂

EDIT: I'll go ahead and pitch them. If we run out of room, we can just push some to next month.

L'Arpeggiata, Christina Pluhar featuring Lucilla Galeazzi and Marco Beasley-La Tarantella: Antidotum Tarantulae (2002)

First off, let me break down this title so you aren't lost. L'Arpeggiata is the ensemble, Christina Pluhar is the one calling the shots, and Lucilla Galeazzi and Marco Beasley handle most of the vocals on this record.

The vibe: I’m just gonna make up my own label for this stuff. I'm calling it Italian proto-pop music. 🙂

WHAT???😲

You’ve gotta be kidding me. I just searched Google and found absolutely nothing about this.

Dennis Hall41 said:Look, even with her and Lane—and let’s be real, they’re two of the only bright spots in that absolute swamp of a Billboard chart—you still get this nagging feeling for a huge chunk of their discography. It feels like if you threw them back 40 or 50 years, they wouldn't have been the ones buying Lennon, Dylan, or Jagger their morning coffee, let alone landing those massive, prestige label deals.

Don't even get me started on the big three—Bach, Mozart, and Beethoven. Not even them. 😲 🤦🙄

Look, jokes aside, I don't know much about these ladies, but my gut tells me they're absolutely powerhouse players.

Looks like the album's back in rotation after a week. I think I'll drop my official take on it sometime next week. Stay tuned. ☕

quietbison86 said:I was thinking about Norman as his absolute peak, honestly. Like, he can take *Born to Die* and just toss it aside—that album hits different for me. It’s got this whole specific vibe and backstory that I just can't shake.

Is "Doin Time" a cover? My bad, I didn't know.

Lorde is basically just an Antonoff project at this point. Without him, there wouldn't even be a new Lana Del Rey era. They’re cut from the exact same cloth when it comes to that sound.
I don't know, man. I can't quite put my finger on this new Lorde record. It’s kind of mid—neither great nor terrible, just... there. Honestly? *Melodrama* was her peak. That’s still the one that hits.

I mean, if you don't recognize it's Gershwin's "Summertime," then what are we even doing here? Seriously.

Call me arrogant if you want, but I honestly think everyone needs to hear this. It’s just common sense.

When a reporter asks if he’s voting for Škoro in the runoff, Kapulica just starts dodging the question. Total nonsense. 🙂

Steven Newman50 said:Divna is actually pretty great. She's a first for me. In this stupid video. I can't believe they actually thought of using her for the soundtrack. Seriously? 😁

WTF, I was literally just watching! 😲🤦 Putting her in that context is borderline blasphemy, honestly.

If I remember correctly... This is the first track from divan. Just one I heard.

Vocals are killer. Huge props for picking this—it adds some much-needed variety to the mix—but honestly, it’s just not my vibe.

Thanks for the input, 🙂

I love tossing stuff like this on, laying back with my eyes closed, and just letting the music take me on a trip.

The whole album clocks in at just 24 minutes

I'm not really feeling Great Doxology, but man, In the Red Sea and Cherubic hymn are easily some of the best things I've heard all year.

Think of her as the American Enya. 🙏

Aaron Baker7 said:The video doesn't say anything about some "system 12" thing. I have zero clue where you guys heard that. It's talking about the system32 folder.

Look, everyone knows you can use the hosts file to block certain websites or servers from connecting. The real question is who—or what—added that line to your hosts file in the first place if there's actually an issue. Maybe try clearing your browser cookies and cache, or just try opening Spotify on a different browser and see if that works...

If you still want to follow that video, just stick to the instructions. It’s not rocket science,

Cheers.

I actually fixed this before I even watched the video a few days ago. I just opened Spotify on Chrome and everything worked fine. 👍

I mentioned I’m on Spotify, but honestly, I still use regular YouTube too. I mostly use YouTube for the commercials 😬, while Spotify is where I go for all that music "nobody" actually listens to. Right now, I've been deep in the early medieval and Renaissance stuff. Every so often, you'll find some niche ensemble that has an album uploaded to YouTube, but you won't find a trace of it on Spotify.
Maybe that’s just how it works when you're digging into stuff that isn't exactly mainstream.

So I tried fixing this thing using this video, but then I hit a wall when he mentions clicking on system 12. I’m running on a 32-bit system, so I just stopped right there.
I wasn't sure if I should even bother following the rest of the steps or if I was just wasting my time, so I called it quits.

My internet was absolute garbage earlier today. I ended up rebooting my PC and things seem fine for now.
But Spotify is acting possessed. It’s not even an issue where a song won't play—it's just stuck displaying NaN:NaN right where the timestamps should be.

It glitched out once before, but it didn't show that weird NaN:NaN error back then. Last time, I just logged out and back in and that fixed it. Now? This thing is totally broken.

I did a little digging on YouTube, but it looks like most people are just dealing with songs failing to load. I can't find a single decent example of what to do when you get hit with this NaN:NaN nonsense.

Dennis Martin6 said:Honestly, both ways seem like a struggle. It just feels like Beck is way better at playing around with folk stereotypes than actually forcing them on you. That’s the only way I can explain why 'Mellow Gold' hits so much harder than, say, 'Sea Change' or 'One Foot in the Grave' (guess I actually did listen to some Beck albums after all 😁)

I'm no nerd, so I never bother listening to every single suggestion 😁

When I head out to vote, I usually give every album a quick spin just to get a feel for the production.

I really wish you’d given my suggestion a shot—even if you just turned around and told me it was the absolute worst thing you've ever heard in your life. 😁 🕺

Dennis Martin6 said:I listened to a few tracks here and there, so take my takes with a grain of salt and a dash of coriander:

Jackie Greene - basically a masculine version of Sheryl Crow. This stuff is giving me hot flashes, guys!

Sons of Kemet - the music is solid, but the spoken word parts are terrible, and don't even get me started on the infantile concept. Still, since the music matters, it passes. That said, Shabaka’s other band, The Comet, is way better—they play this modern version of Sun Ra’s cosmic jazz that's much more experimental and abstract than this. Plus, they aren't weighed down by all that hipster activism.

Lilihip - based on the cover art, I was expecting synth-pop, but nope, just straight accordion. The third track is actually good. The album itself might not be great, but it's interesting enough to pass. Also, they're American. Hope someone suggests Alana Vitale soon. Don't be cowards.

Beck - Mellow Gold is the only Beck album I've ever bothered with, and it's an amazing deconstruction of folk clichés, but this one is just pure cliché. Total snooze fest.

Fit - Is this like the American Aerosmith? 🤔

Mizar - the vocals are ridiculous, but not quite ridiculous enough to be worth a mention. 😁

And you totally skipped over some of the other albums. 🙂
