My take

Ensemble tre Fontane-Le Chant des Troubadours Vol 1 : Aquitains ( 1992 ) EDIT

🎉

Edit:

So, first I heard this track totally out of nowhere, completely stripped of its context, and man, it sounded like the weirdest thing I’d ever heard in my life.

Honestly, albums like this can be a bit much to digest at once. But there's something about that challenge—that intrigue—that keeps me coming back. I find myself circling back to stuff like this until it finally starts to click (assuming, of course, that it’s actually worth the effort).

Is it just the mods picking the albums of the week? How does the whole thing actually work?

And can it be any genre at all? Like, could we have a classical or early music album pop up as the album of the week, for example?

quietfox38 said:That second one. Honestly, sounds just like any generic pop song on the radio today. Hard to tell if it actually blew up back then since everyone forgot about it for ages.

Alright, thanks for the heads up ☕

I was talking more about the pop vibe. Take that medieval example—it doesn't sound anything like modern Top 40 hits, sure, but when I hear it, I don't think "classical." To me, that's basically just medieval pop music.

For Pachelbel's Canon in D Johann Pachelbel. Some people are out here claiming it’s the first actual pop song ever. Honestly? Please. It popped up in the late 1600s, and man, the backstory is actually pretty wild. This track is basically a global heavyweight in classical music now, but even though Pachelbel was a big deal back in his day, the song just kind of vanished into thin air for a while. It didn't really blow up again until after 1968, when some orchestra finally recorded it and brought it back into the spotlight.

So, I was just falling down a rabbit hole looking at Pachelbel’s Canon. It’s one of those things that’s everywhere. You hear it at weddings, you hear it in commercials, you probably heard it in a cheesy pop song once while waiting in line at Starbucks. It’s basically the soundtrack to life in America. The structure is what gets me. It’s this repetitive, looping progression that just builds and builds. It’s catchy, sure, but it’s also kind of hypnotic. People act like it’s this high-brow masterpiece, which it is, but it’s also become the ultimate "easy listening" staple. It's the musical equivalent of a really comfortable pair of Levi's—classic, reliable, and everyone knows exactly what they're getting. Anyway, just some random thoughts while my coffee gets cold. Total tangent, I know.

The chord progression here is basically the same one used in half the pop hits on the radio right now. It’s actually pretty funny—there's this viral YouTube clip called "Pachelbel Rant" that breaks down exactly how repetitive it all is. 🙂

The first pop song? Out of everything written here, that’s the one that actually caught my attention. Yeah, I’ve heard the talk about the chords, even if I don't really get what makes them tick. But here’s the real question: what exactly defines a "pop song"? Are we talking about something that's just popular, or does it actually have to *sound* like pop?

We already had troubadours and troubadresses back in the Middle Ages (wait, how do you even say that for women?)🤔It’s basically the medieval version of today's pop-rock. Honestly, if you took some mid-era dance instrumentals and gave them a few modern production tweaks, you could easily blast them in clubs tonight.

What a banger. 🙏

Bringing this thread back to life after a few months 🙏

Mozart - Leck mich im Arsch

I stumbled upon this existence about 10 years ago 🤦😵 🤦
Look, I know exactly what that title means, so I’m definitely not touching the full translation with a ten-foot pole. 😲

I've picked up a few things over the last couple of months. Ever since the 18th century, there's been this whole "light music" movement in classical circles. Basically, it was just less "serious" classical stuff. An early example would be Mozart's Eine kleine Nachtmusik.

Some light music composers: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catego...usic_composers

There are a ton of them from the 20th century; I spent a little time clicking through.

Then you have this concept called parlour music, a style that had a massive influence on 20th-century pop.

It’s pretty wild how medieval troubadour music (which has a huge variety of forms and styles) doesn't even sound like typical medieval classical music. It sounds more like the pop music of the Middle Ages. Then again, that might just be down to the interpretation—some troubadour styles are dead serious while others aren't at all.

La Rotta

A l'entrada del temps clar

Jameko During the Renaissance, some guy named John Playford used to write dance music for courts.

Tirsi e clor, SV 145-Claudio Monteverdi

Sounds pretty heavy at first, but from what I can tell, this dance piece eventually kind of "wakes up" halfway through.

There we go, the Republican Party wins again, Hallelujah!

Keeping America safe—that’s why we need the Republican Party!

The Republican Party is out here hunting down Democratic voters 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

So I'm sitting here on YouTube, just vibing to some tracks, when suddenly every single song gets interrupted by a damn Republican Party ad. 🤦

That unnamed US politician isn't making the cut. Look, maybe there really was a massive blowout with that unnamed US politician, but they're definitely trying to spin the narrative to make it look like something else entirely. ☕

Larry Walker24 said:The Republican Party just put forward historian Ivo Lučić as one of their candidates for Congress. He told CNN that he’s planning on jumping back into the political ring, though he wouldn't give away any specifics just yet.

Word on the street is he’ll be right at the top of the ballot, sitting directly behind Andrej Plenković.

So, some local hero dropped by Mary's radio show. Naturally, the Facebook comments section absolutely exploded with "praise." 🍿

DEMOCRACY June 10, 2020.

Talk about blatant cheering for the Republican Party. Just when I think it can’t get any more obvious, they blow my mind. 🙏

I mostly skipped over all that heavy-handed praise for the Republican Party and went straight for the critiques. Honestly, you have to be incredibly well-prepared if you want to offer even a shred of criticism; otherwise, the host finds every possible way to discredit anyone who isn't perfectly aligned with the Republican Party line. 🙏

Around the 50-minute mark, a woman mentions she's backing Škoro. Suddenly, the host feels the need to give this whole lecture on "experiments" and why we shouldn't let things like that happen. 🙏

1h: 08 min Highlights.

The guy calling in says: This show has turned into nothing but a hype reel for the Republican Party.

The host responds: So you don't think they deserve it? 😲

The man brings up Istanbul. The host fires back: And what exactly is bothering you about that?

It’ll be interesting to see how this show behaves during the election campaign and just how much hysteria they'll stir up.🍿

Krstičević hits back at rumors about beefing with Plenković: ‘He’s a good friend of mine’

...
“The President and the leader of the Republican Party, Andrej Plenković, is a good friend of mine. I can honestly say we worked together incredibly well during my time as Vice President and Secretary of Defense. He totally met all my expectations. He was a huge help regarding defense and security—specifically with growing and modernizing the US Army. Thanks to him, the US Army is way stronger today than it was back in 2015.”
...

🕺 As for where he'll land on the ballot, we'll just have to wait and see.

I can't believe people are still falling for this stuff. It’s honestly embarrassing. You see these headlines and you just have to laugh, because if you don't, you'll lose your mind. Everyone thinks they know what's going on, but nobody actually looks at the facts. They just follow the crowd. It's all noise. Pure noise. Total nonsense. Honestly, just watch how fast things flip when the reality actually hits. It's wild. redbear12 says:

Check out the segment from 42:00 to 50:00. The host is basically taking cheap shots and being straight-up disrespectful toward anyone criticizing the Republican Party leadership.

Man, it’s so obvious. Just blatant, shameless cheering for Andrej Plenković. 😲

I mean, I shouldn't even be surprised. ☕

UPDATE: 1 hour in—the host is out here coming for the patriot crowd. 🙏

American Weekly: Did Plenković and Krstičević just have a massive blowup during a hours-long shouting match?

Looks like the fallout with Krstičević stems from some shady intelligence business involving Božinović, plus a total split with Markač over the election lineup. 🕺

The only thing actually "right-wing" about the Republican Party is how they scare people with the Democratic Party.

They’re so tucked away in their own little corner that even when "conservative" candidates run, they can't find a single shred of actual right-wing policy in the Republican platform—they just end up recycling the same old tired lines. It's always stuff like, "We can't afford to split the conservative vote," or "We can't let the Democrats take power," or my personal favorite, "Now isn't the time for experiments."
