Austin Evans said:Amanda Kelly, claiming Alonso is at the top when it comes to driving culture while ignoring the absolute circus and disgrace he and his teammate Nelson Piquet pulled off in Singapore is just laughable. I’ve never been a huge fan of Alonso, but I always respected his talent. After Singapore, though, to me he’s just a petty gossip with questionable morals. If that's how he wants to play it, fine... but acting like he's some legend while downplaying his opponents is ridiculous. What's even the point of his greatness if he's only racing against amateurs and random "drivers" who just got lucky enough to grab a few points?

In those four lines, you've put ten lies in my mouth.
If you're going to lecture me, maybe try actually reading more carefully and paying attention first.

Jack Kelly5 said:Why on earth would Kimi need to slow down in that spot? They’re wheel-to-wheel and Alonso is practically shoving him off the track!

Not then.
By that point, Alonso had already cleared him. Then comes the turn and that tight narrowing of the track.

And don't give me that "he's pushing him off" line. Sure, he's pushing him, but not off the track. That's the distinction.

Jack Kelly5 said:Come on, you can't seriously be this worked up, right? Is it the number of penalties or the swearing?
😁

It’s the sheer volume of insults thrown at Kimi.
I don't swear much, but here, I feel like there's no way out of it (though I really should try to keep it together).

Jack Kelly5 said:Look, there have been several posts already claiming that Sky, BBC, RAI, or whoever else decided the incident wasn't Kimi's fault. A lot of us here reached that conclusion too. But you, along with a few other Alonso fans, keep insisting on something else. Hey, it's fine to have an opinion, but it makes me wonder: were we even watching the same race? Are you just refusing to see what everyone else sees, or are you actually just blind?

I'm watching Fringe, currently on season 3 (wondering when they'll finally get to the more explicit stuff🤷).
The whole show is about two parallel worlds that look identical but are fundamentally different—double lives. It feels like Max, Pila, and I were watching the race in that parallel universe. 😁
And by the way, is anyone else here besides those guys actually seeing reality?

Around the 14-second mark, you can see Kimi is at least halfway alongside Alonso's car. After that, Kimi slows down. If Alonso hadn't taken that tiny left turn, they would've cleared each other without any issues.

I’ve watched this clip ten times before anyone even filed a formal complaint.
And honestly, I have some respect for what those who disagree with me are saying. So, I went back and watched it again.

Saying Kimi was slowing down sounds like a bad joke to me. I’d only believe that if there were actual physical evidence—like a log file or telemetry data.

I've spent plenty of time watching Alonso's overly cautious entries into Turn 1, where he loses positions and opportunities. Not every start is perfect, obviously, but from what I see, Alonso is top-tier when it comes to racecraft.
That’s why incidents like this grate on my nerves so much. Given everything else going on, I can't remember the last time I felt this worked up. It actually crossed my mind to just stop watching entirely, which is the first time I've felt that way since the mid-eighties.

Edward Howard2 said:Why on earth should I listen to what someone else says and accept it as gospel truth when I have my own two eyes to judge the situation? Whose opinion am I supposed to value?
Should I value the opinions of those British commentators who claim Vettel is the seventh-best driver of all time, better than Alonso, or that Stirling Moss was superior to Jackie Stewart and Niki Lauda despite having zero titles?
Or maybe I should listen to some random pundit who insists Hamilton is the third-best ever, and that both Hamilton and Vettel rank higher than Prost or Schumacher?
Or perhaps I should cater to the endless parade of Alonso sycophants and haters who just sit there waiting for him to speak so they can spam emojis 🙂 and call people "crybabies." Yet, when Hamilton gets frustrated on the team radio because Charles is holding him up during the third practice session at Indianapolis (yeah... during practice), those same people 🙂 who were tossing emojis at Alonso (Michael Lee4 op.a) suddenly go dead silent. "Objectivity" and "expertise" are everywhere these days, apparently, even on this forum...
Who is this global F1 authority you're talking about, whose opinion I'm supposedly meant to take as fact just because they hold it?

I had the same thought, but this puts it much more clearly and bluntly. 👍

Tyler Bennett5 said:I don't think this is just about haters being loud; it’s more about Alonso fans.
They’re hell-bent on proving Kimi is the sole reason for the incident and that Alonso doesn't have
even a shred of blame in any of it.
If someone had just said at the start that it was a standard racing incident—the kind we see
hundreds of times during race starts—this whole thing would have died right there.

Did you see anyone actually calling for a penalty for Kimi? No. It never even crossed my mind.
So, by default, it's a racing incident.
But I still hold him responsible for the collision; I think Kimi caused Alonso to spin out.
He didn't do it on purpose, obviously. But when the stakes are this high, I expect more caution and basic respect for the other drivers.

And yet, here we are, with all the hateful claims that Alonso is the one to blame.

Jack Kelly5 said:Oh, sure, there were plenty. But that's the difference here. We aren't hiding it—we say Alonso is a total crybaby and a bully, while you guys are all out here acting all precious and high-and-mighty...
😁

Are you seriously trying to bait me into an argument?
Nah. I just hit my quota.

Douglas Parker61 said:I agree with everything except that last part. 👍
This was just a racing incident through and through. No one's at fault. Alonso came out on top, and that’s how it goes. It'll probably cost him the championship, which sucks, but it is what it is. Blaming Kimi is just nonsense.

Exactly!
How much effort would it have even taken to avoid this? Just a tiny bit of throttle control.

Michael Lee4 said:If the track narrows... I'll get hurt 🤣

Look, from the start line until that first turn, the track is easily half as wide as the main straight. You can fit four cars side-by-side out there, but before that first corner, you’ve got room for maybe two at most. What exactly am I getting wrong?

Michael Lee4 said:Alonso has been shoving Kimi Raikkonen the entire time. Ever since they crossed over to this side, it's just constant pressure and bumping.

Did he leave enough room while they were racing side-by-side? Yes.
Did he force him off onto the grass? No.
Is he faster? Yes.

So what's the actual issue?

Michael Lee4 said:Oh, sure... I guess we should just pass a rule saying everyone has to clear the way for the championship leader (provided he's driving a red car and his name happens to be Alonso). Better yet, let's just set the starting grid based on the standings and give a one-second gap for every point of difference at the start.

We don't need any of that ridiculous circus you're suggesting.

All the "smart" drivers need to do is let him clear the first turn unscathed in whatever position he's currently holding.
After that, they'll have plenty of
to actually race and prove themselves. 186 miles

Flawless driving and a win for Vettel, just like I called it.

But honestly, I am completely fed up with this Lotus crew. Is there anyone else here who’s sane?
First you have that reckless driver who clearly hasn't learned a thing, and now this absolute clown knocks the championship leader out in the very first turn.

What on earth was Kimi thinking, trying to force his way down the left side today? He was obviously slower. What was he even going for, if he was actually thinking at all?

Alonso was pure class. He didn't push him; he was just faster, and there was no room on the right because the track narrowed. Kimi just caught the spray once Alonso had already pulled ahead. I don't see a single mistake.
I'm livid. I could go hit my head against a wall.

Alonso took a gamble and it blew up in his face. Just deal with it.☕

It wasn't like Kimi Räikkönen spun out on purpose. He didn't just decide to mess up.
Some people got caught in the crossfire of that incident, but it wasn't intentional. It was just one of those accidents that probably could have been avoided if anyone had been paying closer attention.
Look, I can't really fault Kimi regarding his little mishap.
Didn't we already agree on this?

And that’s the other thing—I highly doubt any of those drivers would actually give a damn about that.
I’m half convinced that if we asked, maybe just a handful of people would actually have the guts to say, "Look, I messed up, and I didn't mean to screw you over."
We aren't all cut from the same cloth. And neither are the drivers.
I'm not exactly out here putting my favorites on a pedestal—honestly, they might even be worse than Kimi Räikkönen—but you just don't see anyone else on the grid quite like him. With those manners of his? The guy is a total original.

Jason Clark14 said:He’s got a massive fanbase, just like any other driver. What’s the issue there? Other than him being blunt and you not liking his attitude🤷. What, are you expecting an apology for him having an opinion?

Look, Rachel, you're missing the point entirely.
It doesn't bother me at all that he has a legion of fans.
And I don't care if he speaks his mind. Honestly, who actually enjoys dealing with hypocrites?

The real issue is the core of his mindset—his actual attitude. He just couldn't care less about anyone or anything else.

Tell me something: if you were a woman, would you actually marry a guy like that!?

To me, he's just a heartless clown, and frankly, I'm perfectly happy seeing him drive for my guys (Ferrari's rivals). Is that fair enough for you?

I wouldn't even be surprised if Red Bull shoots itself in the foot again and some nonsense involving Mark Webber happens...
He seems totally forgotten, but I have a feeling he could actually be a factor in this race...

I don't buy it. This is actually the perfect setup for Red Bull.

Can someone give me a quick rundown on the grid situation for tomorrow?
Is Button the only one sitting with a 5-place penalty?
Are both Saubers really starting ahead of Alonso? (That Sauber is a total wildcard).

One more thing I need to confirm: did everyone who made it into Q3 start on the exact same tire compound? (Not just the same type, but an identical set—trying to settle a debate over here).

Is there any info out there on everyone's tire allocation for tomorrow?
Everyone’s definitely got two new hard sets, but does anyone know how many people have fresh softs left?

The director running this feed through Creator is an absolute clown.
Why on earth is he keeping the camera glued to Kimi while the pit crew is finishing up that final lap? There’s way more interesting stuff happening elsewhere.
He probably thinks Kimi is Kimi Japanese.

Jason Campbell70 said:Tires? What tires? Total nonsense. 🙄

Alonso had to back off during his fast lap because of yellow flags after Raikkonen went off at Indianapolis.
That’s why he lost a second or so on the lap.

I thought Alonso was right on his tail and managed to clear the yellows without an issue. Maybe he just slowed down because he saw someone spinning up ahead.

What the hell was Fernando Alonso doing in Q3?
Everyone seemed to find massive chunks of time in Q3 compared to their Q2 runs. If you looked at his Q2 pace, he would've been starting 4th.
Wasn't he running on those old tires from Q2 during Q3?

Honestly, watching him pull that off with just one single lap in Q3 is giving me high blood pressure.
