Hey, nobody checking this?

Dealing with high fasting blood sugar? Or maybe you crash hard into hypoglycemia right after eating something sweet?

Is your BMI sitting above 25 (or even over 30)?

Got extra weight around the waist—more than 35 inches for women or 40 inches for men?

Is your waist-to-hip ratio higher than 0.85 (for women) or 0.9 (for men)?

Are your triglycerides or "bad" LDL cholesterol levels running high?

Or is your "good" HDL cholesterol looking too low?

Blood pressure acting up?

So far, the absolute best way to stop Metabolic Syndrome from turning into Type 2 Diabetes or other issues is just a lifestyle shift: walk at least thirty minutes, five days a week, eat plenty of fruits and veggies, stick to lean proteins (like Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, chicken, or fish), go for whole grains when you need carbs, and keep the healthy fats in check...

There are medications out there, too...
Elevated liver enzymes, wonky insulin and blood sugar levels, feeling hungry all the time, skin darkening around the neck, groin, and armpits, plus those little skin tags popping up on the neck and chest... throw in some family history of diabetes and PCOS, and you've got a lot of pieces on the board.

Could this be metabolic syndrome?
Andrew Richardson8 said:In my experience, people who constantly smoke Marijuana eventually just become... well, blentav. It’s like they lose their edge on every possible level of existence. It’s hard to put into words, really. But you can always spot a regular smoker. It’s like their brain just burns out. Who knows...

Up until now, you could pretty much guarantee one thing: users lose all their drive and end up completely apathetic, even weeks after they've stopped. But now, these scientific papers are coming out with even more significant—and frankly, depressing—research results.

Even though cannabinoids are used medically (Marinol) to help with nausea or boost appetite, smoking Marijuana remains sporadically decriminalized and is only legal in select parts of the USA, mostly because we lack sufficient studies. These recent findings should make the decision on whether or not to use it for medical purposes a whole lot clearer.

Ugh, I live for conspiracy theories 😬

You're the first one to bring up conspiracy theories in this thread. 😁

By the way, that feeling like everyone is constantly plotting against you? That’s actually one of the classic red flags for psychosis. 😲 😉
Lisa Rodriguez84 said:It’s honestly wild how every single study seems to come up with a completely different set of results. I wouldn't be surprised if half of it is just cooked up to sell more newspapers. 😁
Anyway, if the data is that inconsistent, why on earth would anyone even consider using it for medical purposes?
And one more thing: has anyone here actually ever heard of someone dying from a marijuana overdose?

The whole reason the Lancet study used a meta-analysis is because they actually baked in the data from previous research.
It’s not just about the rise in mental health issues; we're seeing a spike in those among people using marijuana, too.

Then there's the lung damage.

Has anyone actually watched SICKO yet?
Nobody has anything to say about it?

Seriously, go watch it!!!
SICKO in Movies ·
Michael Moore put together an incredible documentary—it’s tragic, sure, but he uses enough dark humor to keep even the most hardline conservatives glued to the screen.

To my fellow Americans, give this a watch if you can handle the emotional heavy lifting. And to everyone else abroad, just enjoy the comforts of home while you can.
Do you smoke? in Health ·
Richard Booth35 said:The New York Times reported on Friday that "as many as 40 percent of American fifteen-year-olds smoke."

I wasn't fifteen back then, and I don't smoke. I didn't even pick it up when I was a teenager. But I remember my old high school class—out of forty kids, only five of us stayed away from it.

Nowadays, Big Tobacco has it much easier selling to kids and people in developing nations, mostly because everyone who actually knows what's going on is already well aware of how dangerous it is.
Bilirubin levels in Health ·
William Gray3 said:So, how do you actually deal with high bilirubin levels?

Basically, you find out why it's high and fix that specific issue. 🙂
In newborns, doctors sometimes use blue light therapy to bring those levels down, but that isn't really an option for adults. 🙂

I pick this up back home in the States at Target. 😍

Chris Morgan67 said:Only an idiot would actually believe that some processed juice from a factory is the same thing as eating fresh fruit.

We both know that. But there's a massive group of kids out there who aren't spending enough time at home to learn that from their parents. Instead, they're being schooled by commercials everywhere—in the gym, at clubs, on TV, or just walking down the street...

Ask them why they’re slamming energy drinks while they're hitting the weights at the gym. Is it to give them more stamina for their workout? If it wasn't so pathetic, it would be hilarious.

Jack Hill6 said:So, can I drink the tap water in Washington, D.C. without worrying about having to check Craigslist for kidney transplant donors?

For now, you don't need to worry about the classified ads or buying bottled water. 🙂 😁

But my point was that if you're doing standard daily chores for just an hour, you're burning more than 10% of your total daily calorie needs.

I don't know about that. If people actually kept a food diary for a day or two and saw the actual calorie counts they were swallowing...
Megan Peterson87 said:I love Jazz. 👍

Respect to Jazz. But I’m talking about that real deal—the stuff coming out of New Orleans. Most Americans don't even know what actual jazz is anymore. 😢
Megan Peterson87 said:if we're talking about American junk, you've got those nasty pancakes smothered in maple syrup for breakfast😁

😁

You think some kid twenty years from now won't be posting online about how Americans used to gorge themselves on those gross maple syrup pancakes like it was totally normal?

Haha, honestly, who would've thought five years ago that we'd actually be eating Uncle Ben's plum sauce? 🤣

Haha. 🤣 Or look at it the other way: It’s not worth eating more than one square, because it all just ends up in my gut, and there's zero chance I'm spending three hours on a treadmill just to offset half a candy bar. 😬
