Therapy and mental health resources? in Health ·
Look, if you don't vibe with the first person you meet, just keep looking until you find someone you actually trust. 🙂

There are child psychiatrists and psychologists out there—maybe try checking at the Mayo Clinic... or honestly, just go wherever you can find someone who makes you feel heard.
So, Nicholas Perricone—the dermatologist basically printing money with his whole "ageless beauty" brand—is out here pushing facial electrostimulation paired with certain topical treatments. His pitch? It beats plastic surgery hands down. According to him, surgeons just hack away at tissue, leaving muscles disconnected and stripped of that natural tightness and tone that actually makes someone look youthful.

As for using it on the rest of the body, honestly, it feels like a gimmick for people looking for a shortcut to skip the gym. That said, it might actually be useful for folks dealing with muscle asymmetry for whatever reason.

Corpus said:It strips out way more than just chlorine. We're talking herbicides, pesticides, insecticides, heavy metals like copper, lead, mercury... it basically turns the water "soft." On one hand, it's great because you don't want those metals messing with your kidneys or liver, but since it also pulls out things like iron, I feel like it might be causing softer stools...

Man, if only that were actually true... 😢>
The Son's Room (la stanza del figlio) in Movies ·
I saw the film as a story about destruction that just can't be undone. Despite all those tools he used to try and fix everyone else's lives, he couldn't quite pull himself out of the gutter.

The shared trip to France gave them a temporary sense of closeness, and maybe they can play house for a while, but that innocent happiness shown in the first film is gone for good.

Scars stay with you forever.

I’ve been sticking to filtered water for a few years now—using a Britney pitcher specifically—and I haven't dealt with any stomach issues since. 🙂

The catch is that these filters don't actually stop bacteria from multiplying. If the water source isn't clean to begin with, or if the filter or pitcher itself gets contaminated, you're basically just drinking tainted water.

Nah, don't sweat it...

All Britney is doing is stripping the chlorine out of the water...

Most people deal with high blood pressure without even knowing why. I know you're currently hunting for the root cause, hoping to just wipe it off the map and be done with it. Just focus on finding a solid treatment plan for that annoying condition and take care of yourself...

Rewatched it about two months ago... What can I say? 😎 😎
Hormonal Contraception: The Pill [General Discussion] in Women's Health ·
The pharmaceutical industry is just as aggressive with their marketing. Take Minoxidil—when it’s prescribed for hypertension, it’s a total rip-off compared to using the version meant for hair regrowth. Basically, Big Pharma convinces both doctors and patients that treating baldness is a necessity just so they can make the production costs worth it.

It reminds me of that antimalarial drug that could have saved countless lives in North Africa. But because that market was small (and, let's face it, poor), there wasn't enough incentive for Big Pharma to bother developing it. It wasn't until they realized a side effect—reduced body hair—could be marketed to the massive, wealthy US market that they actually decided to produce it. I think it was Merck, though I can't recall the specific name of the antimalarial. A sad state of affairs. 😢

Over here in the States, direct-to-consumer drug advertising has been legal for years. You see the ads on TV or in magazines, people get ideas, and then they head to the doctor demanding a specific brand. When a doctor does prescribe what they asked for, you start wondering: is the doc being pressured by an insurance company like UnitedHealthcare to deny it because it's too pricey, or is the med actually unnecessary?

On the flip side, having patients involved in their own healthcare decisions is a good thing. It puts the ball in the patient's court, though. It means you have the responsibility to check multiple sources, make an informed choice, and know how to ask your doctor the right questions...

By the way, Diane 35 isn't FDA-approved in the US.

Steven Ruiz, next time you run into her, tell her I’m a huge fan of her work. Also, mention that I eat yogurt (totally true). You can even lie and say I use recycled fertilizer (total lie). 😁
Anyway, I stumbled upon this ancient archival footage from FC Barcelona—it's a play featuring Emma Thompson and Kenneth Branagh... honestly, that stuff could probably fetch a fortune on the collector market. What does Katie think about that? And seriously, bring her by the Forum sometime. 😉 😎 Maybe bring some chocolates too...
What counts as "normal" or "healthy"? in Philosophy ·
I hate using any of those terms when I'm trying to be
precise.

It’d be way easier to just point out what’s actually broken and toxic. 😁 🙄

"Normal" and "healthy" are just based on statistics, which is a pretty hollow way to define things... especially since the numbers shift all the time.
Help! I messed up my nail! in Health ·
How can you say there isn't a wound? A chunk of skin peeled right off under her nail, plus there's a bruise forming at the base...

But seriously, everyone’s got this idealized version of how it should look in their heads. Go have a professional actually take a look at it...

It hurts like hell. 😢 😢 😢

Smart move getting ice on it. Maybe try some antibiotic ointment or even hydrogen peroxide first, then follow up with iodine?

But honestly, you should probably just head to the doctor. It looks like you might lose the nail.
Into bags? 😁
I used to get up just because that’s how I was raised.

Then there were times I stayed seated when I saw some old lady giving me that "I deserve your seat" look.

Other times, I got up because I put myself in their shoes and imagined being that much older.

Then there was that one guy—an older gentleman trying to be charming—where if I had stood up, I would’ve basically crushed his ego by making him feel like a frail old man instead of letting him flirt.

Once, though, I was actually the one who needed a seat. It was a Saturday night, I was in total agony, and every single chair was taken by a group of twenty-somethings hanging out together. I didn't have the guts to ask anyone to move, mostly because I was hurting too much to deal with whatever snarky comment they might throw my way.

Now? I just get up whenever I see someone who genuinely looks like they need the spot.
Can a system ever truly analyze and grasp its own essence?

If a system is fundamentally different from us, how can it possibly understand us? It’d probably be more objective than we could ever be about ourselves.
