It’s just tradition—nothing more, nothing less.

That was me writing—not some random guy.

gentlecobra23 said:Plus, an excavator is way cheaper than a crane—and way easier to move around. We live in a world run by bottom lines, so obviously the cheapest route is the only one that makes sense.

but you're out here studying some obscure degree

Except that "cheap" and "NASCAR" aren't even in the same universe.

George Anderson5 said:This is truly harrowing. The driver was tossed about violently; if he manages to pull through this, he deserves nothing less than total admiration.
I can only hope he possesses the inner strength required for such a recovery.
Furthermore, the footage speaks volumes. One has to wonder at the competence of a race official acting with such frantic instability, waving a green flag at entirely inappropriate moments.

The official waved it exactly

with a yellow flag right in front of the crash site, then the green one immediately after.

That green flag marks where the accident zone ends—it was like 20-25 feet past the wreck.

Standard procedure. The official isn't even at fault here. He used the right flags.

It’s on the race organizers for not having cranes stationed along the track, and Charlie who didn't mandate them—instead, they just let them drag the cars out with construction equipment.

tell me about it

just look at this photo. Bianchi's helmet hits this angled part of the rear—which basically shoves his head deep into the cockpit—and slices right through the airbox

Pure luck. If that excavator had a sharp edge back there instead of this rounded shape—it definitely would've been a decapitation or a crushed skull.

Look, Daniel Wheldon was a total nightmare to deal with—super egoistical—so both Andretti and Ganassi kicked him to the curb. But man, he was a killer behind the wheel. One of the absolute best

He ended up stuck in that Panther car, which was basically a rolling junk heap

And then, to top it all off, he finished his run with the bottom-feeders over at Herta

Zero.

I'm scrolling through the comments right now—some guy's claiming nobody in IndyCar is willing to mess around with his ego or political games.

But honestly, guys like Fernando Alonso just don't cut it in IndyCar.

Over there, you shut up and drive. The second you start acting like a philosopher, you're out of the team.

What’s the word on Formula E

His buddy Jarno Trulli is right there—maybe he could pull a stunt and drive for him!?

You can actually secure your future for the next decade here.

In F1? No chance. Just look at the lineup—half these kids are half the age of Lewis Hamilton.

I honestly don't think we'll see Lewis Hamilton in Sochi—looks like Fisichella is just gonna carry the load for him through the rest of the season

And what the hell actually broke on him in Japan!? Electronics!? Yeah, right—as if

If we haven't forgotten, I'm sure Dennis hasn't either—especially after getting hit with that $100,000,000 bill

Revenge is a dish best served cold.

All you had to do was see Lauda's face when they brought up Alonso. He looked like they just asked him if he wanted to sketch out the blueprints for the Renault engine

What are you guys even rambling about!?

If Mercedes actually wanted him, they would've signed him already. Did you all forget we have three seats per team next year? You need three drivers for three cars, geniuses!

And Lauda says he doesn't even need Alonso.

It's pretty obvious.

steelmaker83 said:Oh sure, Lewis Hamilton is just some green kid who’d let himself get rattled and leave 50 million on the table easy... yeah, right...

What do you want?!

You got exactly what you asked for. He's not a mercenary anymore.

Turns out you didn't even need those polls—he basically fired himself from being a sellout.

🙂

Way to go, Matijac. The guy knows exactly what he wants and doesn't take any crap

He’s doing massive things over at Ferrari

The first big move is already done—he wouldn't let Ferrari get held hostage by those parasites

Rtzuiop said:Man, what a dark day for racing

It's wild how this crap always hits motorsports in clusters

First, nothing—absolutely nothing—and then boom, three things happen at once

Ratzenberger, Senna—day after day—then Wendlinger two weeks later

Gonzalo Rodriguez and Greg Moore within a single week

Henry Surtees and Massa within seven days

And last year? Just one disaster after another—honestly, that whole year was probably the worst stretch for racing globally in as long as I can remember

So now we get these two in the same damn day

And yeah, I actually had some nasty nightmares about it between Saturday and Sunday

vividlynx68 said:Man, I actually feel for him. He was always a cool guy, even if he wasn't tearing it up in a top-tier team while I was watching NASCAR. I remember being a kid, racing around the living room carpet with my NASCAR toy karts, and he’d just constantly wreck himself 😁

I had this sticker album covering the '86 season—though there were some from '85 too—so one side had a whole set of maybe 4 or 5 stickers showing his crash in Austria back in '85

And on the driver portrait pages, his face somehow ended up where Philippe Alliot’s should have been. Either I just messed up the sticker or what? Who knows. But long story short, for at least four or five years, I was totally convinced that was Philippe Alliot

I never even got a Mansell sticker—so I just had to imagine what he looked like. Pretty sure the first time I actually saw his face was in '89. Before that, I just saw him in the car. I knew what his helmet looked like since I had that sticker, but the face? Pure imagination.

That '86 album was basically my Bible.

Then someone tossed it in the trash. No clue who—probably my mom. I swear I searched my parents' house a hundred times trying to find it, nothing. Honestly, I'd drop a thousand bucks right now just to get it back.

Chris Robinson25 said:It’s no surprise they have that kind of authority, given how much respect the Japanese command.

Honestly, I’m just floored by how fast that medical crew moved. Major props there.

If he survives at all, he owes it entirely to them.

As for Charlie Whiting—get him out of here. What an absolute moron. First, he runs the race under a safety car when conditions are basically begging for intermediates... and then he lets a tractor drag the car away instead of using a crane.
