Amanda Kelly said:Think they'll pull it off and beat both McLarens again?

Not happening. The Lotus car is actually legit this year—they took last year's solid foundation and actually added some real upgrades. Unlike last season when they found that crack in the chassis and had to redesign everything from scratch.

Then you've got Kimi—fast, steady, reliable as hell.

On the flip side, you have Button, who's decent, consistent, and reliable, versus Sergio Perez, who’s fast one minute and then just totally inconsistent and unreliable the next.

And the car itself? It's good, but the team keeps making bigger and bigger moronic mistakes every single year.

Ever since Dennis left and stopped running things with an iron fist, this whole outfit has been circling the drain. Zero discipline. And Withmarsh? Total clown who hasn't a clue what he's doing. Hands down the worst Team Principal I've ever seen—just absolute garbage.

Alright, since the esteemed moderator who handed me these bans wants to go explain herself to the admins—how exactly was this off-topic or spam?

Some user was bragging about snooping through her husband's phone, so I just linked an article about how that's actually a crime under US law.

And now that's considered off-topic or spam?

Seriously, the mods on this site have absolutely no clue what they're doing!

It’s not even just that they don't get that this is a straight-up felony—they're actually out here making fun of it.

So here we have a literal public confession of a crime

https://www.reddit.com/r/example

Basically, she’s admitting she was snooping through his texts while he was in the shower

And here is the actual federal statute that makes what she did a criminal offense.

Section 142.

(1) Anyone who intentionally intercepts or accesses private electronic communications, emails, or any other form of private correspondence without authorization—or otherwise violates their privacy by intercepting, concealing, or destroying such communications—

shall be punished by up to one year in prison.

Everything is right there.

If there are any admins here who can pull her IP address, someone should report this to the cops so they can take it from there.

I'm pretty sure it's an admin's job to report crimes to the police—unless I'm wrong.

Hey admins, just tell me how you'd handle this—or even something else, like shoplifting at a CVS or picking pockets—would you actually call it in?

Larry Walker24 said:how do you even know it was actually a woman writing that—or who's really behind the account?

why do you even care if a wife is snooping through her husband's phone?

okay, let’s flip the script. let’s say some user pops up on Reddit and openly admits they just robbed a 7-Eleven. would we be worried then?

because both of those things are felonies

it’s wild that nobody here seems to get that. can you people even read? does anyone here actually understand what a criminal offense is or how the penal code works?

we have a situation where a woman basically confessed to a crime and everyone's just sitting there doing nothing.

look, if someone wrote it just to troll—well, they'll have to explain that during a police interrogation. but in my book, the site mods can't just ignore a public confession to a crime. they can't.

and the only reason they aren't acting is because it hasn't clicked for anyone yet that snooping through a phone is a crime too.

Brian Edwards6 said:Why even bother calling the cops?😕

It’s because they straight up broke the law—like, a literal crime was committed. And now, they went and posted a public confession right here on Reddit. Case closed.

So, if a wife admits she went snooping through her husband's phone and found texts from his mistress, she basically just confessed to committing a crime under the penal code.

And why wouldn't you just call the cops? What's so weird about that?

That's basically like someone bragging on Reddit about boosting a pack of Marlboro Reds and some adult magazines from a 7-Eleven—or just straight-up admitting they swiped someone's wallet on the subway.

I’d report that immediately—nothing weird about it here, it's obvious to everyone that we're talking about actual felonies.

And honestly—digging through someone else’s phone is literally a crime. But apparently, that’s just lost on everyone—or at least this tiny group of people.

I dropped the link to the penal code above and just copy-pasted the specific statute—it's all right there in plain English.

William Bennett53 said:Gentlemen, as long as the criticism is aimed at drivers who don't carry quite the same emotional weight with the fans—think Vettel or Rosberg, for instance—nobody seems to mind, and everything stays peaceful. However, if a similar insult were directed toward someone like Alonso, we’d likely see a flurry of report notifications immediately. I'm simply offering a bit of a heads-up: let's not get worked up over it.

@Amanda Kelly - I find myself in agreement with your assessment. That said, I can actually see the merit in Jeremy's perspective regarding McLaren; they might have been much smarter to bring in someone like Maldonado. They already have a rock-solid, reliable points-collector on the roster, so bringing in a bit of a wildcard for the second seat would maintain a perfect team balance...

Oh, give me a break! And right when I finally switched my loyalty from Alonso over to Vettel, too.

So now Vettel is fair game, but Alonso is untouchable. Great.

What a joke... 😁🙂

Quick question. Are admins actually required to call the cops if they see someone publicly confessing to breaking the law—basically admitting to a crime online?

Take the "Relationship Advice" subforums up there, for example. We constantly see threads where women openly admit to snooping through their husband's phone and finding texts he sent to some mistress.

Under U.S. criminal law, that’s an actual offense. So, my question is: why doesn't anyone ever take action? Why isn't anyone reporting this stuff?

Check out Section 142.

(1) Anyone who unauthorizedly opens someone else's mail, telegram, email, or any other form of correspondence, or otherwise violates their privacy, or illegally retains, hides, destroys, or hands over someone else's sealed mail, telegram, email, or any other means of communication...

...shall be punished by up to one year in prison.

Here's a link so you know I didn't just pull this statute out of thin air.

Amanda Kelly said:Look, I appreciate the mods looking out for us, but I wasn't offended or angry at all by what Josip Presvetlog wrote. If anything, we need a little distraction from this absolute swamp of nothing happening lately.
Plus, I've always had a soft spot for MSC and the color red.

There's plenty of humor to be found in blunt language. Not everything is inherently evil.
But since that line is thin and we all have different tastes, I respect the mod's decision and think they handled it correctly.

Man, listen, I'm with you. But Dorian says you guys all voted for this yourselves during some poll—that was back when I was living in the Midwest, so I have zero clue what went down here.

Seems to me like a classic case of "you asked for it."

Or just run the vote again.

Because let's be real, you all know damn well that insulting and mocking drivers—especially the current ones—is basically Joža's favorite pastime.

And I barely managed to swallow my apology earlier.

I WANT the insults back. It gives the forum some actual soul. Just keep the driver trash-talk separate from the users.

Come on, people—these guys make millions. We can poke fun at them a little without acting like they're untouchable pharaohs. You're not allowed to say a word? Seriously?

-Joža votes to bring back driver insults!

I am asking you the same thing.
A few months back, when we spent those few days hanging out in the paddock, we had a pretty candid debate about what everyone on this forum actually wants regarding moderation in Formula 1. Specifically, we talked about how to effectively shut down trolls who make a habit of attacking drivers, teams, and the members of those teams. Our stance on that issue was made very clear during that discussion.

The beer was flowing, and I just couldn't help myself.

But look, since I'm a proud recovering alcoholic now, let me apologize to the community (even the ones I used to call by much different names) and even to the seven-time world champion—comparing him to a malicious disease was a stretch, even if the booze started it.

God bless!

Peace out! 😁😁😁

Tyler Bennett5 said:Has anyone taken a close look at the data from these recent tests? Based on the lap times during specific stints,
I’m curious to know how much tire degradation we're actually seeing from each car.
I have a feeling this season might show even more drastic differences in tire wear than last year, depending on how sensitive each chassis is to
the rubber. At least until the summer break, anyway—after that, things should start to stabilize a bit.

Lotus, Ferrari and Sauber

Given that the Sauber looks absolutely insane—and I mean insane, insane, insane

it's about time. After years of playing it safe and being super conservative, someone finally went for a radical design. I'm rooting for them. That car is definitely gonna kill it at Monza, if nothing else. Too bad we don't have the old Hockenheim anymore, because they would've been favorites there too.

It’s a bit unsettling, honestly. I can't help but worry we’ll show up to the season opener with a car that fails to deliver on its race simulations—exactly the kind of headache we dealt with last year.

Is this that same forum where we all get threatened by some absolute clown acting like he’s the god of life and death?

God, are we seriously gonna have to listen to his "expert" takes during Friday practice again? —if so, I might just go get my eardrums surgically removed right now.

Nathan Jones98 said:Wait, wasn't that purple added because of Infiniti?

And has anyone else noticed how Jaguar basically turned into Renault? You've got Dietrich buying Jaguar, then Infiniti—which is part of the Renault-Nissan group, essentially Renault—steps into RB, and suddenly it's all "Infiniti Red Bull Racing," even though they're running Renault engines. Meanwhile, the Renault that grew out of Toleman and Benetton sold most of its shares to the Genii Group and became something like Lotus—totally disconnected from the actual Lotus brand. Man, you really have to love the word games these massive corporations play. So, we either have two Renaults or none at all. I'm honestly lost at this point.🤷

Honestly, just follow the home bases. Look at Hinwil or Enstone—you'll see who actually owns those facilities and what kind of magic they're cooking up under the hood.

So, I'd just call the whole Lotus/Renault/Benetton/Toleman crew "the Enstone team."

And the Sauber/BMW/Sauber squad would be "the Hinwil team."

No confusion there—that's the only thing that stays constant, or at least changes once in a blue moon.

William Bennett53 said:I don't necessarily see this addition of purple as a violation of the corporate identity, given how exceptionally recognizable the branding remains regardless. I was previously under the impression that the marketing specialists—who are undoubtedly experts, much like the creative minds over at Red Bull—were planning to integrate these new hues into one of their product lines...

Look, they definitely know their marketing. And honestly? Forcing the kid to swap helmets like he's changing socks only helps Red Bull. It just kills Vettel's personal brand—and if Vettel loses his edge, Red Bull wins.

When you see a red and white car with a yellow helmet—you think Senna!

But when you see a blue car with a yellow nose—you aren't thinking "Vettel," you're thinking "Red Bull!!!"

Vettel desperately needs a marketing guru—someone to actually peel him away from this Red Bull identity he's totally drowning in.
2013 Car Reveal & Winter Testing Kickoff in Formula 1 ·
Was he actually out of his mind?
2013 Car Reveal & Winter Testing Kickoff in Formula 1 ·
And that’s exactly what Vettel missed out on. Honestly, even if he was driving the most brain-dead design imaginable—think Prost levels of bad—if that helmet actually pulled off three straight titles, it would’ve been legendary. But it just isn't. In twenty years, nobody's gonna look back and say, "Oh, look, there's the Vettel helmet." Because let's be real—Vettel's helmet doesn't even exist.
