Right now, just some slight improvements to the update support.
Joseph Moore40--- That original installation disc you have... Pop it into the drive, open it up, and locate the setup file. Right-click on it, hit properties, and prepare yourself for an absolute headache of a menu. Navigate to the compatibility tab and set it to run on Windows XP Service Pack 3—some systems might only show you SP2, but either way, it should get things running.
Did you try it with a different DVD? Go ahead, burn Windows 7 again at 8x speed. Because clearly, what you wrote isn't working—it won't even boot from the DVD.
@smartie The driver will be pulled in via the update process anyway.
@Aspire1 How exactly are you planning on installing it? What kind of error did you actually get? For God's sake, we don't have some psychic ability to know which specific error you're staring at.
@faragos Read the entire thread before you start a war you can't win. @posmatrač Just download the 32-bit version. It’ll run 99.99% of everything that works on Vista anyway.
Do I really have to keep repeating myself, or is one explanation enough for the smart people in the room?
Look, man If you've got the itch, go ahead and install Windows 7 if you really want to. Honestly, you’ll probably end up reinstalling a version of Windows at least three more times anyway before you settle on something.
mab Why on earth don't you have two partitions? You should have the OS installed on C:, and then keep all your important documents on a separate partition.
@Noah Miller6/">@@Noah Miller6 I managed to get everything up and running... For any program you're trying to install, just click on the setup file, head over to Compatibility, set it to Vista SP1, and then launch the installer.
@MiniMe Look, my job actually gives me the opportunity to be a beta tester for all of Microsoft's products... It’s literally what I do, so I was just stating my honest opinion regarding Windows 7..... If you aren't feeling it, then just don't install 7 and move on with your life. It's that simple. Everyone was tearing Vista apart when it first launched, yet now about 90% of the people on this forum are using it...... The same thing will happen here; people will bash 7 and claim that Vista with SP1 was the ultimate OS, the best there ever was....
Look, you haven't actually tested Windows 7, so you really have no idea what you're talking about here.... Some of us have actually put it through its paces and are using it right now. Most people I talk to think it’s already outperforming both Windows XP and Windows Vista, even while it's still in beta....
If that watermark in the bottom right corner is driving you crazy, you can get rid of it using this little tool: http://rapidshare.com/files/18554192...build_7000.rar
