I was watching some clips earlier and it just got me thinking about the cycle of hope and disappointment in sports. Every single season, or every time a new regime comes in, there’s that massive wave of optimism. We tell ourselves that this time is different, that the culture has actually shifted, and that the mistakes of the past are finally behind us.

But honestly? It feels like a loop. I’ve been following my team for decades, and I’ve lost count of how many times we’ve been promised a "complete overhaul" or a "fresh start" only to see the exact same patterns repeat themselves by the time the preseason even hits its stride. It’s like watching a movie where you already know the ending, but you keep hoping the actors will ad-lib something better.

At what point do we stop buying into the hype? Is it even possible for a franchise to actually break a cycle of mediocrity, or is the "new era" just a marketing tactic to get us to buy jerseys again?
Why shouldn't we be able to Ban users we interact with? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
I have a question for everyone posting hate against Medin, and also for those who just click 'report post' without ever having the guts to say what they actually think about him publicly (not that you would, since this is a public Reddit, better to hide behind emails and backroom politics) — is it really that hard to accept that some people simply disagree with you?

To be clear, I’m not trying to defend him or act as his lawyer (especially seeing how people react to that here), but it’s obvious he got a Ban, followed by a permanent one, just because he annoyed a specific group of users. Not everyone. Just a few. And it's a stretch to call them the majority, regardless of how much some people try to insist otherwise.

As for how much he contributed to Recreation, the people who actually train know best. Those who just pretend to, never will understand. 🙂

And btw, Smizl, you've got guts. I respect 👍

And honestly, if all these so-called Dr. Tabatas and Dr. HIIT types are snatching up clients, the fault lies with the BlackRock crowd too. Maybe they just lack basic communication skills. 😁

They probably don't have time for communication skills because they're too busy drowning in psychology. 😁

Ethan Garcia8 said:Why should anyone take a word from a guy like Charles Chavez5 on this forum? 😁 Everyone should try it for themselves; it doesn't cost anything. It isn't exactly smart to sit here arguing and trying to convince people of something without actually testing it first. If you want to try it, go ahead. 🙂

If everyone else at BlackRock is this much of a genius, I don't see any reason not to listen to them. 😬

Check out the food diary. There are some pretty decent meal plans in there if you need a little inspiration. 🙂

From what I can see, you're doing strength training too, not just morning cardio. Doing that on an empty stomach isn't exactly smart. Besides, it's not like you need to lose 55 pounds; it's only 13. Eat breakfast.
If you stick to two meals a day (or three pathetic ones, I don't even know how to describe them), you're just going to wreck your metabolism and make weight loss even slower.

Yeah, quit the stalling and just post a photo of your chest!

I know, it's terrible... no cleavage, tight outfits, hair extensions down to the ass, bras...
I really need to work on this. ☕

Jumping back into this thread. This photo is useless—that smudge near the wrist is just a bad Photoshop job. I'll post a better one when I find it...

I just prefer sunflower bread over soy. Even better if it's toasted.

👍 Honestly, I'm glad an amateur actually managed to get something right here 😁

wanderingraven15 said:Of course you can eat junk food occasionally. But we're talking once a week, not chocolate every single day.
Besides, plenty of healthy foods taste great. You could say veal or lamb isn't tasty 😁—that's your choice, just skip the carbs in that meal. Pork works too.
The key is knowing when things are okay to eat (or knowing when they'll do the least damage).

Absolutely. 👍
I'm just saying that since I'm not an athlete, just someone who gets about 6 hours of exercise a week, doesn't carry extra weight, and generally doesn't tolerate crap food or actual junk food in the strict sense of the term, I can have a little cream cheese on bread once a week. 🙂

Also—if I may ask for an opinion on "seasonal overeating" regarding tomato salad. It's my favorite summer meal when the real tomatoes come in. Is it an issue to eat a large portion with a little bread if that's all in the meal? Like, maybe half a kilo of tomatoes, one cucumber, some onion, olive oil, apple cider vinegar, and about 100g of Miller's soy or sunflower seeds 😉

wanderingraven15 said:The list I bolded is bad. Extremely bad.

I'll tell you why.

Take the first meal, for example—a liter of Nescafé with milk.
That isn't a meal. 🙂 I could write a book on milk, but honestly, I don't feel like it right now. 😁 The caffeine in Nescafé reduces insulin sensitivity, which means there's a much higher chance any carbs you eat afterward will just turn into fat.

Chocolate snacks—loaded with sugar.

Tuna in oil plus mozzarella plus bread—fats and carbs don't mix.
The same applies to the next meal. Only, that dairy spread is also packed with trans fats that do nothing for the body except cause havoc in the circulatory system, etc. (I could go on about this for ages too).

Mayonnaise—I don't think I need to explain what kind of garbage this is. You wouldn't even feed this to an enemy.🙂

Frankfurters—you're better off not knowing what the food industry stuffs inside them. Even if the label is accurate, the ingredients are pathetic (saturated fats).

Pizza, croissants, cookies, etc.—all of this spikes insulin through the roof, prevents lipolysis, and stores everything in fat cells.

With a diet like this, you can count on being close friends with your doctor. Better to prevent than to cure; my well-meaning advice.🙂

I agree with 99 percent of this, but still... maybe we should leave some room for people. 😉
I don't see much harm in having a tiny, tiny amount of something like processed cheese once a week, or a slice of pizza once a month...
The same goes for chocolate snacks... look, we can't always live on just chicken, turkey, cottage cheese, grains, fruit, and vegetables. I think you need at least 10 percent freedom... I need it, just to know I'm not a robot. 😛

fadedmason16 said:I can't stand vegan cheese—it either smells terrible or has no scent at all. I stick to Granulated Gold or some German variety instead; it's much better than that stuff.
Before running, I eat nothing but coffee (espresso, no sugar, just a splash of milk). Basically, I run on empty, and it works fine for me.
Afterward, I drink water mixed with freshly squeezed lemon, orange, and grapefruit juice. Sometimes I'll go with beet, carrot, apple, and lemon juice to get my vitamins and energy back.
That usually carries me through to lunch.
Regarding workouts—abs or weights... I don't eat anything. I usually have lunch, then wait a few hours for it to digest before hitting the gym.
Post-workout? I CRAVE ROASTED MEAT!🤣🤣🤣

Haha, but you run in the morning. I do the same thing, just coffee during weekend runs, and I'm always wondering if it's bad for me. But I can't skip eating before training because I can't keep up the pace (I do two hours: one hour strength, one hour stairs). You know how it is—I get home around 10:30 or 11:00 PM, and I can't eat a full meal or I'll never be able to sleep.

Mark Hill3 said:I eat it with a slice of bread; sometimes I just have it plain—about 250g. Personally, I go for the Granulated Gold cheese; it’s a slightly finer version. 🙂

You've got here and here for some recipes—the group was debating this earlier.

Thanks for the links. 👍
I also eat Goldman—it's my favorite. Actually, fat-free cheese is my go-to after a workout, sometimes I'll toss in some fruit like an apple or a peach.
Just realized people do it with almonds too...
Since we're dissecting diets now, what are you guys eating before training? And specifically before running?

Dinner matters too—you can't just skip it. You need "light" options high in protein but low in carbs, like tuna, sardines, or low-fat cottage cheese, etc.

Agreed. Low-fat cottage cheese has been a total game changer for me lately.
How are you guys eating it? What do you pair it with? Give me some ideas to switch up my menu. (Personally, I usually just grab a spoonful and go—but, fine, I eat about 4 ounces per meal).

I feel a lot better about having some chocolate now... I really do watch what I eat and hit the gym six days a week...
As for olive oil, chicken, turkey, fish, salads, veggies, and other healthy staples—I honestly don't get how people can live like this nowadays, eating fried food, fries, chips, sour cream, and all that junk. We actually know what those ingredients do to us and how much damage they cause. We should be sticking to a Mediterranean diet and taking advantage of the local climate that provides such great seasonal fruit and vegetables...😛
And obviously, everything in moderation. Occasionally a little chocolate here and there (but seriously, just an occasional dessert) and that’s it.
Cardio or lifting? in Hobbies & Leisure ·
I'm with goldenfox24 on this one. A mix is definitely the way to go. The main reason I’ve stuck with Aerobics Plus for years is that social aspect. Hitting the gym alone or going for runs just isn't my thing—it drives me crazy. Having those few hours with the group means a lot to me, and it's good to see how everyone else is progressing. Regardless, I highly recommend trying to make it at least three times a week, if you can manage it with the baby.

Grace Harris47 said:I just can't stomach oatmeal or any kind of cereal in the morning. I need something substantial, like a sandwich or something savory. Anything salty that isn't just salted grains.🙂 Am I the only one, or are there others like me?

You aren't an exception. I don't have the appetite for cereal in the morning either. It's more of a dinner option for me. Personally, I prefer something sweet in the morning—toast and jam. Since I don't eat much bread during the day, I really need it in the morning. Cereal is strictly for when I'm too overwhelmed to make anything else.🙂

hm... I have a slight issue with milk. I can't stomach it unless it's well disguised. Any suggestions involving yogurt?
