PDF: Social Science in Chaos in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Sarah Morgan2 said:Since I’m the one who kicked this thread off, I’ll take the liberty of suggesting we get back to the actual problem this topic was created for. It feels like the core issue is getting watered down here. What bluerider2 is writing is a story we've heard plenty of times before regarding Social Science, and frankly, it isn't getting us anywhere. We are searching for a consensus—something bluerider2 eventually admitted and admin Jerry Garcia promised—so let's focus on specific sub-moderator candidates. Otherwise, we’re just stuck in empty lamentation because it seems bluerider2 either doesn't want to or simply can't grasp the essence of why we're even talking about this.

So, my stance is that we need:
1) Another linguist, which is why I suggested Sarah Garcia46.
2) I agree it would be wise to bring in someone whose specialty isn't linguistics, so I’m proposing the forum member Andrew Sanchez572. By the way, the absolute perfect solution would be the brilliant scholar LNP20, but from what I know, he can barely manage to moderate Philosophy, so unfortunately, that wouldn't help much anyway.😢

The other suggestions were: Colbert as a linguist and Lila_sun as an expert in other Social Science disciplines.

I basically spend half my time poking at different people on these forums just to see how they’ll twitch—it’s like there’s constant thunder rolling around in my head, you know? I use their reactions as a sort of litmus test to decide if I even want to bother talking to them anymore. I did the exact same thing to Andrew Sanchez572 once, back when we were constantly clashing over certain topics. Well, she hit me with a response so incredibly sharp and spot-on that it actually managed to make me feel embarrassed.
Honestly, appointing someone to moderate any PDF—whatever that means—is just gonna make the whole Forum run better. Period.

LNP20 is an absolute legend of a mod—seriously, top-tier stuff—and if he ever finds a spare second in his life to breathe, it would be killer if he could swing by and keep an eye on the Social Science section once in a while.

Hey there!
Complaint about the philosophy moderator in Feedback & Suggestions ·
steelridge58 said:It’s pretty straightforward—your TS (opening post) was just low-quality. I moved it to the closest relevant thread because I wasn't about to let it sit solo in Philosophy just because someone thinks they can post whatever random garbage they want and call it enough to stay in the Philosophy section.

In my humble opinion, only a totally "censored" moderator from the Philosophy section could whip up a sentence this convoluted and poorly written.

Definitely give it a read; it's some top-tier entertainment.

@Papa Smurf,
I love the idea, really, but even I gotta admit the way you set up that opening post was kind of a mess.

(And look, this "censored" thing isn't a big deal—we still love our girl steelridge58, even if she's acting a little "censored" 🤣)
Jesus, for God's sake, who on earth decided that you should kill someone just because they switched religions?
You guys are totally twisting His words—black and white, He never said anything about killing people just because they changed their faith!

Seriously unbelievable.
Just unbelievable and honestly, embarrassing.

So much for me ignoring everything people write to me.

edit: I see you're also a massive scholar when it comes to this whole "modern Salafi movement" and Islam in general.
Nice, eloquent, and patient—classic you, 🙏😁

Now, if a layman were to write the post above, they’d probably think it was decent, but honestly? You just doubled down on being a total clown. By twisting their actual words, you're basically accusing this whole group of forum users of being part of some Islamic terror movement—which isn't just moronic, it's straight-up libel.

Quoting Frosty the Snowman:
"We are the ones who have to adapt to Islam, not adapt Islam to ourselves."

This "Islamic reformer" guy clearly hasn't grasped a single thing if he hasn't admitted to even one mistake in all this time.

The "crowd" he claims has "conspired" against him actually covers a massive spectrum of people. And the most striking part? All of us, along with him, hold wildly different views on various issues—which I see as a huge plus, not a downside—yet despite all that diversity, we're all united by one core belief:

We are the ones who have to adapt to Islam, not adapt Islam to ourselves.

So, from my perspective, the drama involving brother Black & White, Kobi, sister Alem, Sunshine, and the whole crew isn't the cause... it's the direct consequence of that exact sentence mentioned above.

And calling a fellow believer a terrorist? That's the absolute limit. It's the straw that broke the camel's back..."

Look, rowdyhawk10, if you actually knew anything about Islam, you would've accepted the public challenge from the Black & White crowd to have a 1:1 debate. You two could have gone head-to-head, and the Muslims on the forum could have voted on who actually made sense. Simple, transparent, and—most importantly—without your constant twisting of facts and manipulation.

As a moderator, you don't have the right to delete posts or hand out warnings and bans just because people don't think like you or don't interpret the Quran your way.

Adura, BigJason, Musliman.hr (Dervish), Sijeno, and the rest have decided to stop posting in the Religion section entirely as long as you're running things—all because of your twisted interpretations, your specific take on the Quran, and your style of moderation.

DrSigmundFrojd isn't Muslim, so he decided to walk away too recently.

Who's next on the list?
and
Why isn't the administration doing anything about this?

@redmarlin3
Instead of jumping in with this kind of stupidity, maybe ask yourself how you'd feel if an admin booted you from your position and banned you just because they decided you were somehow affiliated with Al-Qaeda?

......................

Anyway, I'm getting bored of criticizing rowdyhawk10 myself, so I'm officially signing off from this "Shady problems" thread for good.
rowdyhawk10 said:Fair enough. Now I suppose we should see if you provide links for your own claims as well. 🙄
Just passing through, I guess. 😉

🙄

I really didn't want to drag your embarrassment over to this thread too, but since you're being so insistent...
How adorable 😉

Kenneth Peterson5 said:Ultimately, regarding the lack of class, self-control, or just basic empathy—I’d just remind everyone how your fellow moderator recently "branded" a group of users on Reddit as terrorists, which, in my book, is a much worse offense than anything Aganor did before getting permanently banned.

rowdyhawk10 calls a group of four users terrorists

User Adura fires back

rowdyhawk10 just replies and repeats the same thing

Black and white cloning and responding to slander
crimsonhound80 said:Kenneth Peterson5, I’ve been following your posts for a few days now because you’re actually an interesting person to read, but there is something I’m struggling to wrap my head around;

if you’re standing so firmly by your stance on intelligence in your "recent" posts—and look, I get where you're coming from—do you honestly think it’s okay for an intelligent, engaging, witty person, someone who is generally well-liked by the moderators and the rest of the community here, to snap at an "average" user and tell them to "eat shit monkey retarded" or scream some profanity about their mother's stupidity in a fit of rage? (Which, let's be honest, is sometimes hard to distinguish from just being a jerk)

Look, I get humor. I get sarcasm and all those other stylistic flourishes, and I even understand being pissed off—trust me, I’ve never handed out a ban myself—but when someone repeats the same insult five times in a row, like Cp.Tar or that guy using the alias steelskipper5, then I lose my cool, and yeah, I have to issue a strike.

Honestly, I think you would be incredibly strict—maybe even tougher than any of the moderators on this American forum—but God hasn't given you the chance yet, so don't feel bad about it.

Believe me, this is a hell of a job, and it's not something just anyone can handle—not because of a lack of intelligence, but because of what's... well, "missing" in a healthy brain.😉

1)
Personally, I think it's total idiocy that I "can't" call a user an idiot, pure insanity that I "can't" call someone a moron, and just plain low-class that I "can't" call someone a total degenerate (with emphasis on the degenerate part—that's my own little flair).

But, to actually answer your question:
Yeah, obviously that kind of behavior isn't okay, but honestly, you shouldn't expect anything different from someone who’s supposedly "less" intelligent either.
Then again—it’s not exactly the end of the world.

Now, let me ask a rhetorical question: Is it really fair that I don't have a single 45-point strike against me, even though I’ve addressed plenty of users/mods/admins in ways that were way worse—ways that might look "polite and civil" on paper, but actually carry way more weight when it comes to trying to insult someone's intelligence?

Bottom line: under the rules here, anyone can insult someone else "with gloves on," and frankly, those "polite" insults usually leave a much deeper scar anyway.

2)
Here’s another take on your question, which I think is just as valid as my first point:
It’s definitely ugly when people talk like trash, but it’s not the moderators' job to raise people. If a user's crude language bothers you, just put them on ignore.

Actually, if you ask me, people should have total freedom of speech. If someone is a nationalist, a chauvinist, a religious fanatic, or just a straight-up jerk, anyone can just ignore them if they want to.
And if people *don't* want to ignore them, they can try engaging in further debate—maybe they'll actually get through to them that way.

For instance, sometimes the only way to show a hardcore American nationalist how wrong they are is to have someone from the exact group they hate talk back to them.
If you don't allow a stubborn nationalist to express themselves freely (crude or not, whatever), then they’ll just stay a stubborn nationalist forever, and that causes way more damage than any "hate speech" ever could.

Well, you’ve been sarcastic and used all sorts of other jabs many times where you insulted people "with gloves on," as I mentioned before.
You do it all the time, whether you're acting as a mod or just a regular user. (and since you know the drill, it's time to take a pill 😁)

It’s pretty interesting how you don't see your own constant insults and mockery of others as some kind of problem.

Seriously though, more mods have already suggested she join their crew.
The last suggestion was basically to just run up a clone account so I could pump out a thousand short, low-effort posts—you know, stuff that wouldn't let them recognize me 😁—and just stop filing a single complaint and grievance against the mods 🤣—and boom, after a few months, we’ve got ourselves a new mod.

But honestly? I have zero desire to be part of a squad where the users are looked down on as "vulgaris" while the mods act like they're the "elite," and where the staff doesn't even grasp what being a "Moderator" actually entails in the real world.

Yeah, sure, not everyone can be a great moderator, just like not everyone can be a killer mechanic or a decent psychiatrist, etc.—but listen, intelligence is a non-negotiable prerequisite for any complex job that requires actual understanding.

Sophia Gonzalez66 said:Interesting suggestion, but if you’re asking me, I’d tweak things a bit...

I’d stretch the mod rotation period to at least 6 months instead of 3... because like someone else already mentioned on this thread, it would just be pure chaos. Every single sub-forum would just be stuck in a loop of voting for mods. Then, right when everyone finally picks someone and those threads get cleared out, we'd be back to square one with a new election. 3 months feels way too short—it’ll fly by before you even know what hit you. And obviously, if a newly elected mod turns out to be useless, there should be a way to pull them and move to the runner-up or whatever...

...I also still think giving regular users 100% control over the whole site is a bad move. Like someone else pointed out here, people usually just vote for whoever they hang out with most in that specific section or the person who posts the most. That doesn't mean they actually know their stuff or provide the best answers. In my opinion, after the vote is in, the admins and senior mods should review everything. They should check the user's post history to make sure they actually know what they're talking about before making the final call...

...My idea? We do a massive sweep at the start. Put all current mods to a vote to see who stays and who goes. Meanwhile, we'd have to block mods from sending PMs to prevent them from swaying votes. I’d be down to coordinate that with Kenneth Peterson5

...Just my two cents, though. Not trying to start anything or take sides...

I am 100% with you on that one.

Look, this whole thread is just a total parody of the general situation here.

We knew the proposal would get shot down before the topic was even created.
We knew the moderators' comments were going to be laughable before we even hit "post."
And we totally saw Jeremy Diaz9 coming with his specific suggestions.

The only thing we couldn't have predicted—and honestly, the thing that struck me most—was that the admin Desiree would respond in such a polite and genuinely nice way.

Anyway, thanks for getting involved and for giving it a shot.
Nicole James said:If we are talking about those extremist ideologies claiming that a woman is unfaithful simply because she marries outside of her faith—or the twisted logic suggesting it’s permissible to kill someone who converts from Islam—then there is absolutely zero room for tolerance. I am truly sorry for what happened.

Aganor is, much like Phoenix—a total gem.
Aganor is, much like Phoenix, a highly educated individual—someone whose body of work is so advanced that it’s hardly surprising both have been sidelined by a mediocre environment. It isn't really about how they react to certain situations in a vacuum; rather, people tend to focus on the specific, highly articulate way they choose to express those reactions.
Their works are quite extensive—in any case, they are pieces that I find myself reading with genuine pleasure.

Ultimately, since you aren't showing any actual tolerance for intelligence anymore—instead choosing to judge everyone solely based on those occasional emotional outbursts, which are clearly the minority—you really should have consulted with the Philosophy moderators first. They would have almost certainly sided against it, preferring to only consider banning someone from the Religion section instead. Because, in case you weren't aware, Aganor is a constant, welcome fixture over in the Philosophy section.

Why should they be any different? There are fundamental rules of cultural dialogue that apply to everyone—period. If the vast majority of people on this Reddit can manage to follow them, then there’s absolutely no reason why they shouldn't have to do the same. When an average user gets caught up in a moment of emotional turbulence and lashes out at someone else, they get a warning, and that's that. But when that kind of instability happens repeatedly—to the point where someone hits a thousand points—then we can safely conclude that either the individual isn't mentally sound, or they simply don't give a damn.

Finally, regarding this supposed lack of culture, self-control, or basic empathy for others—I’d just like to point out how one of your fellow moderators recently "branded" a group of users on Reddit as terrorists. In my opinion, that is a far more egregious offense than anything Aganor ever did, which is exactly why he was permanently banned.

Hey, so, after he went ahead and claimed that it’s actually okay to kill someone just because they decide to change their religion...

The whole mess upstairs is laid out perfectly in the Nicole James complaint and grievance thread.
You guys just twist the words written in the holy books however you want—basically just bending them to fit whatever narrative suits you best at the moment.

Hey, so, after he went ahead and claimed that it’s actually okay to kill someone just because they decide to change their religion...

I'd love to see a link that actually backs up that claim above.

Honestly, watching from the sidelines, it’s just depressing how being above average intelligence gets treated like absolute bottom-tier trash—but also, man, the way people get banned? It's ridiculous. So much of it feels totally pointless, either because someone clearly didn't grasp what was actually written or they're just throwing out a ban hammer because they can't handle a different opinion. It's exhausting.
I’ve been scrolling through the last seven posts trying to find even one single constructive suggestion to actually make this Reddit better, but honestly? Nothing. Absolutely nothing.

Maybe I’m just losing my mind. 🤷
I don't even know where to start with this one—just total madness. Honestly, what the hell is going on lately? It feels like everything is spiraling, and nobody is even paying attention. Just constant chaos, man. I’m sitting here thinking about how much everything has changed, and it’s just... exhausting. You look around and it's like everyone's lost their damn minds. Anyway, just my two cents. Life's a mess. says:
That tells us everything we need to know.
The last time I actually checked the user count, it was that long weekend tied up with Christmas—which, let's be honest, isn't exactly a solid sample size for anything. People were out living their lives, hanging with family, dealing with all those holiday obligations... honestly, it would’ve been downright creepy if more people had been hanging out on Reddit during that stretch.

So, check this out—it’s Monday morning, and I’m looking at the numbers. On the psychology subreddit, there were 12 members hanging around, while philosophy only had 4, and spirituality had 6. Now, you can't just ignore the fact that philosophy and spirituality aren't even joined together as subforums—which obviously tanks their member counts. But honestly? Even beyond that, the number of people actually interested in philosophy is nothing compared to the crowd over in psychology practically begging for help. Trying to compare the two is just straight-up absurd.

As for that whole PDF spirituality scene—things are actually shifting. People are finally starting to learn some stuff, and we've got a new moderator stepping in to help out, which is huge. The aggressive trolls who used to constantly stir up drama and cause chaos there? They're gone. So, yeah, we’re surviving, and honestly, it feels like everyone is actually vibing for once. 🙂

Dear hiddenhound3,

Look, bottom line—your whole post is a total train wreck, so naturally—and I really hope you catch this vibe—my response is gonna be just as messy. 🙂

Mark Torres14 said:Here’s my take on this topic:

Technically, there just isn't an alternative to how things are moderated right now. Moderators act as a corrective force—on one hand, they keep our discussions aligned with socially acceptable values, and on the other, they serve as the middleman between us users and the admins. Ultimately, since the admins own the place, their main goal is making sure this "forum project" turns a profit.
Private property doesn't come with democracy.
If you look at it logically, all those other suggestions (from Kenneth Peterson5, rowdyhawk10... etc.) are basically impossible to implement. They require extra time and money, but the profit stays exactly the same. If I were the owner, I wouldn't sign off on them, and that's probably exactly what the current owners are thinking too.
Bottom line: we users have zero say in who becomes a moderator or what criteria the admins use to pick them.
Think of it like the police (Desiree). A cop should be able to punish you for the exact same offense whether you're in Washington, D.C., San Francisco, San Diego, or Miami. It should follow a universal law that applies to everyone.
But here’s the catch.
There is no actual "law" on this forum. The rules are so vague that anyone can interpret them however they feel like—users, moderators, and admins alike. You could get banned on one sub-forum for something that would actually make a moderator on another sub-forum cheer you on, and vice versa. It’s like a cop in San Diego pulls you over for speeding, but then a cop in Miami gives you a high-five and some cash for doing the exact same thing.
Furthermore, I’d love to see a set of rules that applies strictly to the moderators themselves. Don't they have some kind of internal "samurai" code of conduct or honor?
Because I'm just not seeing it. Back when I was teaching high school nearly thirty years ago and managing eight classes of about 250 kids, my first rule was to treat every single one of them exactly the same. Sure, I liked some, disliked others, some drove me crazy, and I straight-up hated some—but I never let any of them see it. My authority rested entirely on the students believing that my grading was fair.
Also, changes to this forum will only happen once the vital functions start failing—like revenue, traffic, ad buys, or some massive scandal with huge social consequences. Everything else is just talk. Modern society doesn't work by making structural changes out of pure altruism or idealism. If something works, don't touch it. If you want something new, tear it all down and build it from scratch. It's cheaper that way.

Hey, Mark Torres14—did you seriously miss that suggestion from Jeremy Diaz9? Because honestly, it’s actually pretty solid.
Seriously? You're kidding me, right?
So, how does that even work, Mark Torres14? Seriously, man, how is that even possible? 🤷😁

Benjamin Long said:I am filing a formal complaint regarding this post due to trolling and discriminatory content. It contains veiled aggression toward participants who are being treated as unwelcome simply because their unique perspectives create a dynamic that the user florine labels as "unrest."
The implication that certain participants are somehow problematic—without any actual explanation of how they cause "unrest"—makes it clear that this post is nothing more than trolling.

Isn't this exactly where the issue lies? This kind of intolerance and failure to understand diversity is the core of the problem!

I kindly request that florine be sanctioned for this post. Otherwise, by allowing this behavior to pass without consequence, aren't we essentially encouraging the spread of discrimination and intolerance?

Hell yeah! Long live the Chinese Revolution. 🤣🤣

Look, if we're following that logic, we should probably both report each other to some government agency or something—because by claiming to stand for free speech and tolerance while basically trying to cancel everyone else, aren't we just asking for freedom of speech and tolerance for our own little circle while tossing everyone else under the bus? 😲😁
We can't do it like that, Alexis—we just can't (and yeah, I know, I'm repeating myself, but hey, I've lived long enough to know how this goes 😢).

That being said, I totally get why you're so pissed off about the constant disrespect shown toward our fellow user ja_sanje (you know, the one who's always knocking on the door...) and others by the "esteemed" hiddenhound3. So, I decided to just double down on the most important part of what you were saying—the stuff we've both been trying to point out to this whole online community, or rather, the administration, who could actually do something about it if they actually gave a damn.
Hey there, hiddenhound3,
I’ll happily throw in a few more details just for you, because I want to make sure we're totally on the same page here.

Look, if you look back about six months—back when the Religion section had maybe 60 active members, while Psychology was sitting at around 30, and Philosophy and Spirituality combined were hovering around 27.

So, what’s the takeaway?

It tells me that certain moderators—you know, the ones who love "editing the threads whenever they feel like it"—are basically driving away anyone who doesn't fit into that boring, mediocre middle ground. And that middle ground? They absolutely love to follow them blindly, whether they're worshipping them or just spitting on any content that isn't strictly "standard." It's a joke, because those outsiders are usually the ones serving up the best stuff.

Since I'm not sure if my little math lesson above made sense, I'll take the liberty of giving you some real-world examples. Let's talk about the actual users who aren't with us anymore—people without whom "things just aren't the same"—like alim, ja_sanja, mislim..., Musliman.hr, sjena., Adura, Zeev Zion, hija del zion, crno&bijelo, Aganor, and plenty more.

That's just a tiny list of names, really. Some got banned just for being "different," others were chased off by constant belittling from the mods and their little cliques, and some just lost the drive to participate in such a sterile environment where creativity and actual intelligence aren't exactly welcomed with open arms.

On top of that—and I don't know how much you know about this—there are tons of users constantly venting about how these specific sections are managed, which you can clearly see over in the "complaint and grievance" section, and sometimes even in the "ban corner." If my memory serves me right, hiddenhound3, you actually filed a completely valid complaint against one of the mods a while back, and—surprise, surprise—you never got a single shred of feedback from the admin team.

If my "numbers game" still hasn't clicked for you, well, maybe it's just me being unable to connect the dots clearly—so bear with me, okay?

Best, and happy scrolling!
It's basically like how evil kefir 😁 barely sticks around in Psychology at all.

Or, let me rephrase this specifically for the occasion:

Look, listen—every single one of my, shall we say, theories has its own glaring hole. 😢
Because if they didn't, all of them would pretty damn quickly be recognized in those high-brow scientific circles 😲 as being actually relevant.
The numbers don't lie:

If you want the ultimate proof of what kind of mods we’re dealing with, just look at the homepage—it's staring you right in the face. Like, check the stats next to the PDFs. We’ve got something like 40 people hitting the Psychology PDF right now, then 35 for the Religion one, maybe 6 for Spirituality, and only 4 for Philosophy. It's pretty obvious if you actually bother to look.

When you factor in the fact that the views on the Spirituality, Philosophy, and Religion PDFs are constantly tanking while the Psychology one just keeps climbing—well, it’s easy to draw a conclusion. It shows that the moderator over at Cocaine Nights is actually sharp, fair, tolerant, and creative. Plus, they actually have a sense of humor and, more importantly, they're the kind of person who can own up to their mistakes and fix them.

So, here's the thing: if the admins actually know their moderators as well as everyone on this Reddit thread claims, then it’s actually in their best interest for the traffic on certain PDFs to drop. And why would that be? Those same admins know exactly why.
To me, the whole thing is just a total enigma.
Do you see how Jeremy Diaz9 absolutely nailed why your (and my) suggestion is totally off base, rowdyhawk10?
No?
Figures.

@Jeremy Diaz9,
That idea of yours about appointing someone to actually pay attention to user complaints is great and all, but honestly, I think you’d need at least three people doing it. It’s not easy to grasp the heart of an issue—especially when things get messy, which happens way more often than people think.
For instance, it took me three whole months to realize that behind that now-permanently banned account "ja_sanja," there wasn't some paranoid freak, but rather a situation where the moderators completely misrepresented her. It was just straight-up unfair to her and to the community's core values (which I keep in my signature), and regarding the philosophy of the place where everything went down—I've been writing about it for a while now. So, yeah, it's pretty wild to me that it took me that long to figure it out.
Jeremy Diaz9 said:You know as well as I do that most of the people on this Reddit are just narcissists at heart, so that whole idea isn't really going to fly here.
Honestly, they should just run the experiment and see where it leads. I suspect it would eventually devolve into nothing more than a complete joke and a total mockery of itself.
Moderators have to exist. It’s just how things work everywhere, and honestly, I think that's the way it has to be.
Anyway, getting back to the point at hand...
If your proposal actually manages to pass, we’d probably find ourselves staring down a situation pretty similar to a total change in administration.
So, I suppose if a forum member actually managed to take over the moderator position, they’d probably spend all their energy trying to get revenge on everyone who ever handed out them a penalty...
And that’s exactly why communism collapsed in the first place.
Not a single bit of that.
I suppose a moderator really ought to be handpicked by the site administration. In my view, they need to have the full backing of the higher-ups to function properly, essentially just stepping in to carry out whatever tasks are assigned to them on a daily basis.
The only consistent complaint I hear regarding this forum is that the leadership... He doesn't actually read the complaints from the Reddit users with any real understanding..
If things actually worked that way, I guess those two guys I just replied to would have blue usernames too...
They aren't the only ones, either. For instance, you've got this person who is basically walking fashion disaster material—they really ought to consider changing their font color.
Days... just days.
P.S. Have you ever noticed how quickly someone changes their Custom User Title to something aggressive the second they get appointed as a moderator?
If you aren't paying close enough attention...
Honestly, it feels like everyone around here is trying to be some kind of Terminator lately...
I mean, just try to wrap your head around a scenario where someone actually gets licensed to kill within a single month. It’s a wild thought, isn't it? I guess you have to wonder how that kind of authority would even be vetted in such a short timeframe. Maybe it's possible, but honestly, it seems like a massive Risk to me. Just an interesting thing to ponder, I suppose.
You know that old saying people always toss around—that if I were given just five minutes of power...
That's about it, I suppose.

🙏🙏🙏

Look, without being sarcastic or trying to hide behind some subtext here, I gotta say—you are dead on.

(And honestly, that goes for everything, but I’m really zeroing in on that one massive issue)
@Eminem
Man, what can I even say... honestly, massive respect to you!!!

It would be absolutely incredible to actually pull this off—if there was even a way to make it happen. I’m talking about wiping the slate clean once and for all. No more warnings, no more temporary bans, and definitely no more permanent bans—unless, obviously, you're just spamming ads on Reddit. If someone can't handle whatever goes down, they can just hit that delete button and get lost. Period.

Finally, we’re actually gonna see the full spectrum. Everything's about to get colorful.

Look, let’s be real—if we actually let people talk about certain topics without any filters, freedom of speech would hit its absolute limit. And honestly? I don't even know if a "limit" like that even exists in the first place.

So, look, there’s this massive, glaring issue hanging over the whole thing—and I’m gonna lay it out as a question for you. Since you’ve clearly spent way too much time obsessing over this beautiful little idea, maybe—just maybe—you actually have an answer.

So, how do you actually fix the whole mess of nationalism, religious fanatics, dealers, creeps, and all those other "honorable" citizens? Honestly, it feels like trying to plug holes in a sinking ship with pieces of gum. You’ve got people obsessed with their borders and flags, zealots who think they have a direct line to God, and then the absolute bottom-feeders—the pushers and the predators—just running around like they own the place. It’s a goddamn circus. There isn't one magic button you can press to make society stop being a dumpster fire, but man, if we could just get everyone to chill out and stop acting like their specific group is the only one that matters, we might actually stand a chance. But hey, that's probably asking too much from this world, right? 🙄😁 Think about all the absolute characters in this modern society of ours—the kind of people who would definitely crawl out from under their rocks if everyone was allowed to moderate their own threads. ☕

@Jeremy Diaz9,
Honestly, I don't care what anyone thinks—actually, scratch that, I love it when people disagree with me. Like, seriously, give me all the contrarians you've got. It’s way more entertaining when everyone isn't just nodding along like mindless drones; things get way more interesting when there's actually some friction in the room.
Not you? Seriously?
Whatever, whatever—I actually ended up reading that greeting from that legendary permanently banned user, Krule. 😍)

That's all on that. I won't be responding to anything else because regarding your PREVIOUS post, I already told you that no actual arguments were provided. I am officially bowing out of any further discussion with you on this matter. Firstly, I don't have the time, and I certainly don't feel like writing essays about something I've already explained multiple times—something you well know isn't true (even though you persist): that this is not a place to promote terrorism or anti-civilization ideological norms. For the last time, for both you, ruggedstag7, and anyone else still confused: this is not a place to promote violence, terrorism, or anti-civilization ideological norms. The guidelines must be respected; those who follow them are welcome here. Those who don't, well, goodbye. I'm stepping away now; feel free to continue your boycott and protests.🙄 Hello

I seriously cannot believe that this kind of "LABELING" certain handles has been allowed to happen, is happening, and will keep happening.

It feels terrible even typing this out on this thread, and for the last two days, I’ve been constantly spiraling, wondering what I can even do about this whole situation. Does it even matter if someone who isn't even Muslim weighs in? People might claim I don't understand the essence of things, but honestly, such a massive injustice has been done—especially to the person behind the Black & White handle—that I simply cannot stay silent. Staying quiet would basically mean giving a pass to the person who is totally violating this entire situation, and I refuse to even say their name until they realize how wrong their actions actually are.

In the end, I just don't get why there wasn't a massive group protest after Black & White was permanently banned, or at least after he apologized to everyone in this post, which—in my opinion—was a rare display of actual humanity. So, I'm not just angry at the moderators and admins; I'm disappointed in all of you too. It seems people only started complaining once things blew up in the "Interfaith marriage" thread and got amplified by the "Church against gay marriage" stuff. It’s like any other injustice is somehow less important than what happened to the Black & White handle, while the dishonest, arrogant, and irresponsible administration...She hasn't announced it even once.

Honestly, I'm actually kind of glad she isn't Muslim—so feel free to all get pissed off at me if you want—but let's be real, every single one of you has been feeding me that exact same image (with the exception of boldgull19 and that permanently banned guy Black&White from Reddit).
Ever since that quote popped up here, my conscience has been absolutely eating me alive—it really hit home just how badly I messed up.
I don't know if any of this will actually land with you guys, but I truly regret what I said and I feel like garbage about it.
I’m asking all of you for forgiveness, or at least some understanding from someone who only jumped into this mess because I couldn't stand seeing how unfairly fadedlynx39 was being treated—and then, in a moment of pure heat and misplaced ego, I let something really ugly slip out.

Once again, my sincere apologies to everyone.

rowdyhawk10 said:This claim—and I should clarify that this applies to the rest of the post as well—is entirely unargued. I suppose if a coherent argument had actually followed, I might have something to say about it, but it simply didn't. First off, there is no such thing as a "Salaf movement," especially not a modern one. What we are actually looking at is a terrorist movement, which can't exactly plant its roots here because it promotes values that are fundamentally anti-civilization.
  • Is it? This. Is there something that simply needs to be tolerated?
  • Is it? This Is there something that simply needs to be tolerated?
  • Is it? This. Is there something that simply needs to be tolerated?
  • Is it? This. Is there something we just have to tolerate?

Is it because they are Muslims that they should be above the rules, Scott Nguyen2? 🙄 Regarding the Wahhabi Corner, I suspect that nobody is actually being targeted out of personal dislike or ideological disagreement—which would be a pretty heavy accusation to make, if you ask me. It seems more like they are simply being held to the standard forum rules, which none of them... He doesn't show any respect.Once they learn how to engage in civilized debate and maintain a dialogue that actually follows the rules—much like the other users here—then maybe they'll be mature enough to participate on a platform like Reddit. Until then, I suppose they can just carry on with their missions over on those pro-Islam forums where they're already used to behaving the way they have been acting here.
  • The penalty for off-topic posts remains exactly the same, whether it’s directed at a Wahhabi or anyone else.
  • The cards used for trolling remain exactly the same, whether you're dealing with a Wahhabi or anyone else.
  • The standard for ironing remains exactly the same, whether you're doing it for a Wahhabi or anyone else.
  • Hate speech policies remain exactly the same, whether you're targeting a Wahhabi or anyone else.

If we were to tolerate them breaking the rules, they would essentially become a protected species. We moderators try our best to treat everyone exactly the same, and I suppose we can't be held responsible if they've convinced themselves they're playing some kind of savior role for the faith, attempting to enforce things in an aggressive way that simply doesn't align with the rules.

Scott Nguyen2, as Nicole James mentioned, boycotting doesn't actually achieve anything positive. It’s probably better to just resolve things as they come up. If we ever act unfairly toward someone, there are plenty of channels available to file a grievance... we moderators aren't some lawless gang running wild. Of course, that's assuming the complaint is actually backed by solid arguments.

Culture, order, peace, and tolerance—that’s what we expect from everyone on this Reddit. There is simply no reason to tolerate anyone else, including those Wahhabi types. I think I'll step out of the discussion on this matter. That's all I have to say, though I would hope we understand one another. Peace.

I’m reading this above—I shortened the quote since we all know the deal—and I honestly just can't believe it. I wouldn't be writing this if I didn't feel compelled to, but you are clearly trying to mislead the users here. Unfortunately, you're falling back into that old pattern—the one a veteran user once described with such precision regarding (you know exactly who we're talking about). I had hoped you'd moved past this, and it seems my recent attempt to explain the error to you via private message was in vain. Don't say I didn't try to reach out.

It’s telling: right when Dervish announced his return—you really should have focused your energy on de-escalating the conflict between him and ruggedwolf. You can see exactly what kind of situation that is and where it's heading. Yet, you choose to stay "wise" and silent on that, while continuing to fuel the agony here. 🙄Just so we're clear, I am writing this for the sake of everyone else, not for you, Scott Nguyen2.

I don't have the energy to address every single one of your theories, but I will point out one particularly glaring one. In your description of the issue involving Damir and CB (ruggedstag7)—for which you are accusing me of moderator bias—you conveniently omitted the actual crux of this post. The reality is that Damir had previously written "Thank God that in the US we aren't ruled by laws where someone's head is cut off for leaving Islam". Consequently, CB responded with "So, you're essentially thanking God that His Sharia was abolished?"—and now you're blaming me for sanctioning such nonsense?! 🙄 Even someone with poor eyesight could see that CB is actually holding Damir responsible because he is allegedly "thanking God for the removal of God's law". By doing so, he is indirectly advocating for the execution of those who leave the faith (since he's blaming Damir for being against such executions, right?). It's a shame Damir doesn't see the logic in your spin. Naturally, we won't tolerate such anti-civilization and violent ideology (which, I suspect, even you don't actually agree with) here, and anyone promoting such views isn't welcome. That is our firm stance. This has nothing to do with "freedom of speech on the forum," but rather with the administration's clear commitment to preventing the promotion of anti-civilization values. Otherwise, why would rules exist at all, if not to prevent chaos? If this isn't clear to you or the black-and-white ruggedstag7, then I truly feel sorry for you.

Scott Nguyen2 said:It’s such a total paradox that atheism is treated as a core topic on the Religion subreddit, especially since atheism is—by its very definition—the opposition to religion. It’s just a plain fact, really, and honestly, both believers and non-believers would have to agree that atheism stands in direct opposition to faith.
And yet, despite that, the Religion subreddit is easily the most "open" corner of this entire site... because they actually allow atheism to be given the same weight and attention as any other religion. It’s almost—hypothetically speaking—like they're putting it on the exact same level as religion (whatever that may be)... which, if you think about it, is a massive slap in the face to any atheist. To suggest that their "lack of belief" is somehow based on dogma too? It's ridiculous! By treating it this way, atheists end up insulting themselves—whether they realize it or not—because they’re essentially placing themselves on the same plane as the very dogma they’re so "passionate" about criticizing. They turn into the very thing they oppose.

Anyway, I'm just making an observation here, not calling for anyone to go out and kick the atheists out or anything like that. Just a thought that seems interesting (at least to me)... something that probably needs even more digging, like how Communism—which stems from atheism—evently morphs into this weird cult of personality where the "leader" (or the party) is seen as infallible... which is, at its core, basically just religious behavior.

Look, this would actually make for a killer formal debate topic. Maybe give that perspective some thought? Given everything going on, it would be a huge gesture of good faith on your part and could actually start solving at least a fraction of these issues.

Scott Nguyen2 said:
When you're talking about religion—or any kind of deep-seated belief system—emotions just go through the roof. It’s incredibly hard to stay objective, whether you're a believer or an atheist, and it’s even harder if you're a moderator... who basically feels forced to act as the ultimate moral compass on such a high-stakes subreddit. There's zero room for error here. Basically, none at all.
So, I really don't get why you're pushing for changes that won't happen through some big boycott. Honestly? It only changes through patience, being persistent, pointing out mistakes, or maybe just showing way more tolerance toward everyone—even those people who are being offensive. And honestly, it feels like nobody uses it anymore, but there's still the "ignore" button. That tool is perfect for cooling things down and just tuning out anyone who clearly isn't capable of—or interested in—having an actual, reasoned debate.

Look, I see now that words don't mean anything. Whether I write stuff or not, it doesn't matter—it’s all useless. The opinions of the users here (let's be real, even respected ones like Tyler Scott3 and the rest) aren't even taken seriously or considered. It's not just about us "wondering" about how the sub is organized; it's about the fact that if we want to be taken seriously, we should be treated that way. If that's not the case, then a boycott seems like a much more effective move to me.
I'm ending this whole dialogue with this post.

Best,

I don't agree, but I respect your stance, so I'll apologize for all my previous interruptions.

Take care.

I get where Scott Nguyen2 is coming from, I really do, but you also added this:

Scott Nguyen2 said:If my seniority on this Reddit—specifically on this sub—actually counts for anything, then I’m calling on it now. Not to hurt the feelings of the younger users, mind you, but just to make it clear: the constant bickering between users isn't why I'm walking away. People can focus on the secondary stuff if they want, and yeah, maybe staying silent is less "useful" than posting, but the drama among users isn't the reason I'm boycotting this place.

Let’s not mince words here. I am boycotting this because of the deliberate, systematic discrimination based on faith being carried out by the moderators—specifically rowdyhawk10. They are targeting members of the modern Salaf movement due to their religious beliefs and outlook... (people who don't agree call them Wahhabis—and I'm only mentioning that to identify a specific group, regardless of what label anyone wants to slap on them)

This has nothing to do with my personal chats with any particular user, whether they follow Salafism or not. It’s about the fact that there is a conscious, unfair effort to stifle their presence here—even though, honestly, I don't even agree with all their interpretations and views myself.

Secondly, I’m boycotting the general trend where atheists try to turn the Religion sub-forum into their own little ideological stronghold at any cost. The proof is right there: there are fewer and fewer believers left in the Religion section (which is supposed to serve them, by the way). And it’s not because they lack "arguments"—it's because the insults being thrown around go way beyond anything remotely decent or human. (Okay, there are exceptions, sure).
Now, look, I'm not saying we should kick the atheists out of the Religion sub. No. I'm saying something needs to be done about the culture of conversation here. Nobody comes here to act as a punching bag for someone else's frustrations. To show you how ridiculous this is, just try opening a thread in the 'Science' sub titled 'Evolution is a myth based on scientific evidence' (just as an example)... either the thread gets nuked immediately or it gets moved back to 'Religion,' making 'Religion' look like some kind of trash bin for those people. On the flip side, as a total paradox that proves my point, you have the 'Atheism' topic pinned right there in the Religion sub.

Everything I’m laying out here is happening systematically and intentionally to turn this sub into anything *but* what it's actually meant to be. Basically, the Religion sub is slowly sinking into the mud of the entire forum. And when you add the fact that Josh is trying to systematically "cleanse" the "Wahhabis" from that mud—who are believers, no matter how people perceive them, and therefore deserve the basic rights afforded to everyone in this sub—it turns out this isn't a sub "for religion" at all. It's a private playground for the moderators, using their power to push their own agendas. Whether that's an agenda of "modernization" (where religion is just a tool for their specific worldview), pushing pro-gay ideology, or pushing secularization under the guise of "human rights." These moderators judge a user's value solely based on whether they fit their worldview. If they do, they look the other way and let "insults" slide (just look at the complaint from Tyler Scott3). But if you don't fit their mold, they discriminate against you—banning you, etc.
This sub has never seen worse moderation than it is seeing right now.

Since the goal seems to be driving believers out of the space that should belong to them (I mean, the sub is called 'Religion,' not 'Ideology') while keeping the "moderates" around, I—as a "moderate"—feel for everyone who has been treated unfairly here. I’m sacrificing myself because every other way of handling this—negotiations, talking it out—has proven to be completely useless. That is why I am boycotting. Until things change, there is no point in posting. For things to change, the moderators need to admit they've messed up. That’s all I’m asking. I'm not calling for a revolution or trying to "topple the government," I'm just asking the "powers that be" to guarantee that people can write freely without having their religious feelings trampled on.

Honestly? Looking at how things are heading, I’m terrified things aren't gonna change—and if they do, it might actually get worse.
See, here's the thing:
When people start talking about different faiths—you know, actual religious beliefs—emotions just go through the roof. It’s incredibly hard to stay objective, whether you're a believer or an atheist, and it's even harder for a moderator who feels like they have to be this ultimate moral authority on such a high-stakes subreddit. There's zero room for error.
So, I don't really get why you're pushing for something you already know won't change through some boycott. The only way through this is patience, being persistent about pointing out mistakes, or having way more tolerance toward everyone—even the people insulting you. And honestly, it feels like nobody uses the "ignore" button anymore, which is a shame because it’s the perfect tool for cooling things down and just tuning out the trolls who can't hold a decent argument to save their lives.

Think about it. Good luck.
