Amanda Robinson4 said:It really depends on who you ask, but honestly, you have to look at the context of the story. This was definitely MM's most mature performance yet, and man, Jared Leto really proved he can play in the big leagues too...
Given how much competition there was, he totally earned that Oscar. There were even moments where MM actually outshined DiCaprio, especially during those scenes in Wolf of Wall Street that same year, so... Leo will probably get his turn next time.🙂

What happens when someone finally breaks out of their usual mold to win an Oscar? Personally, I didn't feel this was even aiming for an Oscar—though I don't recall the full lineup of nominees. Leo was solid in Wolf, but was it enough for an Oscar? I'm not sure. Ultimately, the film itself feels like a missed opportunity; it had potential, but instead, it just ends up feeling like typical, superficial Hollywood fare.

The movie didn't really move me—not particularly. The story itself is actually quite incredible, which is why I feel like they missed the mark by not making a much better film. Jared Leto was fantastic, while Matthew McConaughey was good, though not quite at that same level for me. They missed the chance to create something truly emotional; everything just felt a bit surface-level. I have a close friend who is HIV positive, so I know firsthand the mental toll this takes—both past and present—which made the portrayal feel pretty unauthentic and shallow to me.

Man, this was just bad—really bad. I was impatient, so I went ahead and watched it. But seriously, how can anyone actually call this a good movie?

The dialogue is atrocious—it feels like it was written using a template designed for the most mindless American audiences. The situations feel forced, the acting is subpar, and calling the character development "bad" would be an understatement. Don't even get me started on the soundtrack; it’s just cliché after cliché. It’s that classic American sentimentality that’s so frustratingly over-the-top I actually wanted to turn it off halfway through.

There truly isn't a single redeeming quality here compared to the actual story. It's a disaster that such a devastating tale was turned into such a poor film.

Adeline's life is art—this is just a recorded story.

I refuse to give this a rating.

What a shame; I was really looking forward to a great movie.

Title fixed. 🙂

I am looking forward to watching it—perhaps even before the weekend? 😃 If it actually changes my perspective, then it really is a wow movie; though based on everyone else's comments, it seems to be exactly that.

I’m actually planning to watch it this weekend—I've heard nothing but praise, so I can't wait. 😁 Honestly, the best movie with queer themes is Adeline's life, and truly one of the best films out there.

Just a quick correction on the title—it's Prayers for Bobby ja, not Bobby-a; I don't get why people write it like that, as if we were saying Mark-a.

Not a chance... the first installment was such a disaster—I honestly don't get why they even made a sequel, other than the money, obviously🙂
I suspect we might see a Harry Potter reboot eventually—though probably not for another 10 to 15 years. It will be fascinating to see just how much the experience differs from the original, especially given how rapidly technology is advancing these days.
Charles Barnes3 said:The films are fine, I suppose. I was never a die-hard fan; I’ve read two of the books, though I haven't picked up the third one yet. To be blunt, the movies are typical Hollywood commercialism. They strayed from the source material on several counts, particularly regarding Katniss and Peeta. It seems they decided a darker lead actress and a disabled love interest didn't fit the mold when they could just cast perfectly polished models instead. Besides, those love triangles dropped into the middle of a dystopia—which happens everywhere, really—are just terrible. ☕

That isn't the main point, though. These films will hopefully be decent. Personally, I’ll be watching for Natalia Dormer; she is excellent, and I am eager to see her character on screen.
I try to ignore our local translations, but seeing the title for The Hunger Games : Mockingjay trailer – “ The Mockingjay Lives ”... why? *facepalm* It is honestly painful. 😳

Since Mockingjay actually refers to a bird, I don't see anything strange about it—the translation works fine—it's just that people probably prefer how it sounds in English.

Honestly? It was just incredibly dull and unnecessary—I didn't even finish it because it was so poorly made.

Great??? Good grief—I don't think I've ever seen such a complete lack of talent... she's beautiful, sure, but that's where it ends. If her fiancé weren't Johnny Depp, would she even be landing these roles?

They’ve dropped a new track—it's incredibly catchy, a total summer

I really hope they keep leaning into this kind of sound 🙂
When trailers lie (SPOILER THREAD) in Movies ·
Terrible movie —everything was already shown in the trailer, plus some scenes aren't even in the final cut... it's just total bait.

As soon as I see Amber Heard—who honestly seems to have no clue how to act—I just lose interest in the movie...

She only saw the first three—honestly, she doesn't deserve a single Golden Globes!

I actually found myself laughing while watching this—the "Me was trying to save time" bit was easily the funniest part. Truly good...
The Fifth Element in Movies ·
I actually sat down to rewatch it yesterday—it’s been probably ten years—and it still holds up beautifully. It was funny when I suggested it to my middle school students; they all claimed it was "boring" because there wasn't enough non-stop action. I don't know... maybe? But honestly, today's movies just don't seem to measure up to the classics. To me, this is still a far better film than most modern blockbusters.
After Earth (2013) in Movies ·
Based on the trailer alone, I've already decided this is going to be a total disaster—I didn't even bother watching it, especially since Will Smith is starring in it.☕

I wasn't a fan of REC, and honestly, this one didn't do much better—there was zero tension, just constant predictability. I sat through the whole thing feeling completely indifferent; I didn't feel even a flicker of fear (even though I was home alone in total darkness)—which I suppose says everything you need to know about REC and this remake.
Insidious: Chapter 2 (2013) in Movies ·
I found the first one quite underwhelming—hopefully this one steps it up... and brings in a better cast.
Kill Bill, without a doubt😍
