It’s honestly wild when you start looking at the numbers for someone that dominant on the court. 🍿

Same here, I guess. 🤣

It’s actually quite something, I suppose... at age 32, Djokovic has managed to rack up 17 Grand Slams, which puts him right on par with what Federer had achieved at that exact same stage in his career. Just an interesting bit of data, I guess.🤷

Honestly, I think my head is spinning from all these constant, dizzying shifts...🙏

I suppose I am merely a beginner, though I don't imagine I would particularly mind being completely dismantled by someone more experienced😁

And besides, working alongside the folks at PDF Betting, we’re actually putting together some organized betting action too. 🙏

No, no... it’s just a continuation of that whole so-called "Davorog" opening routine. I suppose one could say: I'll let my colleague Mr. Berosha walk us through the latest figures, if he can be bothered.😳

At the end of the day—if you can even call it that—it’s just the US, all over again. As usual.

Do you honestly think a commentator based at Madison Square Garden in Washington, D.C. is going to just teleport to Miami?

Or maybe you think that same commentator doesn't have to show up at the office on Monday?

Sure, you can tell customers to drop by the stores during the week, but you can't exactly tell pro athletes to go play mid-week, because—well, it hits their bottom line and their whole business model.

(And let's be real, if the cashiers and servers had their own VIP sections, they probably wouldn't be complaining either.)

Besides, it's the same deal with commentators as it is with security guards; if things are bad for them, then I guess everything has to be miserable for everyone else, even the cashiers. Heaven forbid someone actually rebels or complains about current conditions and starts demanding the same treatment.

Because from what I can see, hours are being cut on Saturdays, and then they’re just closed entirely on Sundays.
As far as I'm concerned, the crowds always seem to peak over the weekend.
If this is how things are heading, I shudder to think what's coming next...

🤷

Look, just so we're clear, I suppose the ideal setup would be 7 AM to 5 PM during the week, maybe Sunday from 8 AM to noon. A total ban isn't really productive anyway, and there are plenty of other people who would still want to work that day, I guess.😬)

Amanda Evans2 said:So, a cafe or a restaurant is fine, but a grocery store isn't?
Explain that logic to me...

Well, I mean, globally speaking, they aren't really allowed either, but I guess they serve as an exception since weekends are when they see their biggest surge in revenue. Retail stores don't have that, at least not on Sundays.

Matthew Young35 said:A four-day workweek and a ban on Sunday operations are two entirely different concepts.
It is perfectly possible for employees to enjoy a four-day schedule while companies continue to operate on Sundays.

Exactly, I guess... which is why they’re pushing this four-day idea, just so people can have Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday off.🙏

Look, it doesn't even have to be about "holy" Sundays or whatever... any young cashier would probably want to go out on a Saturday night, but she can't because she's stuck working Sunday.

And then she can't even head out on Monday evening either.

restlesssurfer97 said:Honestly, I’m thinking Sunday is going to be the absolute peak for all those massive shopping malls, so that’s probably when we’ll see people getting handed their walking papers in droves.
And you know it’s gonna ripple out to everything else too, like the food courts, the restaurants, the movie theaters, even the local bars... everything's gonna feel the hit.

It’s looking grim.

Fine, maybe, but I don't think individual retail stores see that kind of peak... or at least, nothing nearly as dramatic as what happens at the massive shopping malls.

restlesssurfer97 said:But what happens to the big shopping malls?

Exactly.

Paul Sanders5 said:I'm not a fan of bans. Especially since there are tons of us who work every single day; Sunday doesn't even mean anything to us. With these kinds of restrictions, it's always the retail workers who get singled out, while everyone else—like what Jessica Gonzalez mentioned—is grinding through those Sundays, nights, Fridays, and Saturdays, and basically getting screwed over. If they were retail workers, they'd actually have some protection. ☕

The Monday-to-Friday grind is just a leftover from failed eras past, just like working 6 to 2 or 7 to 3. Welcome to the 21st century.

In this ridiculous century we’ve found ourselves in... where everyone seems to be constantly clamoring for a four-day workweek, or shorter shifts, or heaven knows what else... I don't know. It feels like we're just moving toward total stagnation, I guess. Maybe it's progress, maybe it's just laziness, but everything feels so fractured lately. Everyone wants more time off, more flexibility, more everything... and I wonder if we even have the stamina left to actually accomplish anything meaningful when we finally sit down to work. It's all very strange.

Matthew Young35 said:Why does that matter?
Do you think because I spend my days repairing tillers, I don't have a family?
Am I somehow less worthy, such that the Church... or the government, shouldn't want to ban Sunday labor?

Look, I’m telling you again, I know you're just trolling at this point, but seriously... I live out in the middle of nowhere, okay? I am surrounded by people who fix tillers and small farm equipment for a living, and let me tell you, I don't know a single soul who just decides to work on a Sunday—whether they're doing it because they feel like it or because some boss is breathing down their neck. It just doesn't happen.

I don't want to claim I have the exact statistics at my fingertips—I certainly don't—but if I had to make an educated guess, I’d say at least 75 to 80 percent of the workforce isn't getting a Sunday off. And I'm not just talking about the essential services or the odd jobs, either. I mean there are plenty of roles that could easily be handled on a Sunday, but for whatever reason, they just don't operate. It's just how things are, I suppose.

Matthew Young35 said:The right to rest? Absolutely. But why does it have to be Sunday?
Why shouldn't I be allowed to work on a Sunday if that's what I want to do?

Well, let’s just take a second to actually think about this... you aren't some lone worker in the entire country, and people like you definitely don't make up the majority of the workforce.

A huge chunk of those workers have kids who aren't even free during the week—they're only off on the weekends because that's how the school systems operate (and let's be honest, most of them aren't strictly religious folks worrying about keeping Sunday "holy").

Retail stores aren't emergency services or essential industries that depend on Sunday shifts—you know, unlike restaurants, bars, or maybe sports journalists—so their schedule shouldn't be dictated by the day of the week. Whatever you feel like you "need" to buy on a Sunday, you could easily grab on a Saturday or a Monday; in 98% of cases, you won't face any actual catastrophe.

Matthew Young35 said:No.
Labor rights mean the right to be paid fairly for your work, not the right to avoid working altogether.

A worker's right includes daily, weekly, or annual time off... this whole spinning the concept of "rights" into "laziness" is just a massive, convoluted mess.

But I suppose you're just trolling for the sake of trolling at this point, so... whatever.
Offside Chat Archives (2014-2021) in Soccer ·
Matthew Young35 said:So, if that's the case, why on earth would they work on a Sunday?
Working on a Sunday isn't mandatory.
Why bother doing it if there’s no profit in it?

I find this whole obsession with mentioning "the Sabbath" a bit much... I don't know, maybe it's just me. It feels unnecessary to act like everyone avoids working on Sundays because of religious sanctity or needing to hit a church service. There are plenty of people who just want a Sunday off simply because it's *the* day off. You know, it’s just not the same thing. Having a Tuesday off versus having a Sunday off? They aren't even in the same universe.

And don't even get me started on those comparisons to essential services like EMTs or police officers...🙏

I mean, honestly... where does everyone even go? I guess it’s worth asking, though maybe it doesn't matter. Where does your crowd actually head off to? I don't know. Maybe they just vanish into the void. Or maybe they're all just at some overpriced Starbucks in downtown Chicago or something. Who knows? It feels like everyone is always somewhere else lately. Just drifting. Typical. $23 I mean, we could probably just trivialize the whole thing down to the level of a basic sandwich. Or maybe a sub. I don't know. It feels like that. 🙏
