My bad, I forgot that your incredibly meager post actually counts as one of those 17. 🙏🙏🙏

I’m not sure if this has come up yet, but ESPN announced they’ll be broadcasting the American national hockey team's games (specifically the IIHF Division II, Group B tournament being held in Washington, D.C.) from April 10th through the 16th. Most of the matchups are slated for the evening slots, around 8 PM. 👍
The US will be facing off against Bulgaria, Iceland, China, Ireland, and Romania.

Betting shop Rules:

If you want to be part of the overall standings, you've got to get your picks in during the first three rounds—otherwise, you’re just playing for fun without any shot at the grand prize.

Each round features 6 games. Just list the score you're expecting. You get 1 point if you nail the outcome (win/loss/draw), and 3 points if you call the exact score perfectly.
The schedule usually splits things up—think 3 games on Saturday and 3 on Sunday (though we might shift to a 2+4 or 4+2 split if the weekend lineup looks a bit thin). Midweek follows a similar vibe, maybe 3 on Tuesday and 3 on Wednesday (or a 2+2+2 setup), unless there's a bunch of international matches happening all at once.
We strictly stick to the Big Five, MLS on weekends or weekdays (with exceptions for big-name derbies like Real Madrid-Barcelona or Manchester City-Manchester United), plus the Champions League, UEFA competitions, and international fixtures. National cups are generally off the table unless we're really desperate for games.
Whoever wins the round gets the honor of setting the matchups for the next one. If they don't feel like doing it or can't find the time—hey, no pressure—they don't have to, but please, just let someone else step up and handle it.
The person setting the games needs to post the results and tally the points within 12 hours after the final whistle, then get the updated leaderboard out within 24 hours. Again, the winner of the previous round sets the stage for the next. Just a heads-up: if you flake on the math or miss the deadlines, you'll face penalties—either getting dropped from the rankings or losing the points you earned over those two rounds.
The hard deadlines for posting the matchups are Friday at 09:00 and Monday at 09:00—that covers everything for the upcoming weekend and the midweek slate.
If the forum goes down or something weird happens, just shoot your picks over to imf.klada@yahoo.com and either me (the admin) or one of the mods will make sure they get logged manually.

Brian Hill said:A look at some top-tier online sportsbooks:

I appreciate the effort here, I really do, but this is honestly a bit misguided—I mean, sure, bet365, Unibet, and maybe even Expekt are decent enough, but there are at least forty other books that outrank these guys by a mile. The only reason DraftKings and bet@home get any airtime is because they dump massive amounts of cash into marketing and media blitzes. When you actually look at the quality of the service? They're pretty mediocre.

Ratings according to Sportsbook Review:

DraftKings -C
bet365 B
Unibet B
sportingbet D
betathome -C
expekt -B

Honestly, I felt better back when some guy actually bothered to set up a poll asking "Which online sportsbook is the best?"—and then he’d list things like DraftKings, FanDuel, or BetMGM in the options. 🤣

Marketing magic at work, I guess. 🙂

shadowgardener10 said:Why was the thread about betting sportsbooks moved over to the general lounge? That area is meant for messing around, making fun of stuff, and just chatting with everyone—not for deep dives like this. They let pretty much any topic through, and then a discussion that actually makes sense—something niche and genuinely interesting that most people don't know much about—just gets dumped into the lounge where it’ll get buried under a mountain of random comments.

We even have someone here who actually works in the industry. I doubt he's pulling our legs, either—and honestly, I think we could all learn a thing or two from this thread about how odds are actually set and how the whole system functions behind the scenes...

I really don't see the point in moving the thread. It's directly related to the betting sportsbook, and clearly, people are interested given how many folks jumped into the lounge to weigh in. What's the actual reason for the move? 🤷

My bad. I didn't realize so many people would jump on this. I didn't have enough time to move the posts over beforehand 😉

Betting shop Subforum Rules

Look, this subforum is basically where people hang out to unwind after work, school, or whatever else life throws at them—and hopefully pick up a few useful betting tips along the way to actually make some money. Because of that vibe, we’re happy to be a bit more relaxed here than in most other sections of the site. That said, we still need some ground rules to keep things from descending into chaos.

I’ve essentially "borrowed" these rules from our colleague MEP over on the Football PDF section, though I’ve tweaked them a bit to fit our specific needs here. 👍

The Essentials

• No advertising of any kind in your posts (especially those sites or bloggers trying to peddle "expert" picks)
• Selling tips—what people call "inside info"—is strictly forbidden on this subforum.
• When a moderator drops a warning or instruction in red text, don't argue with it—just follow it.
• If you're posting images, keep them as thumbnails or direct uploads, but cap the resolution at 640 pixels and the file size at roughly 200kb.
• Make sure to check out the Signature Formatting Rules
• Of course, all general Site Terms of Service still apply.

Breaking these rules will result in your post being deleted without a heads-up, followed by a warning card (and eventually a ban if you keep doing it).

1. Starting and Naming Threads [topics]

• Take a quick look around first to make sure you’re starting a discussion in the right place.
• Don't cross-post the exact same thread in multiple sections or subforums.
• Before you hit that "new thread" button, use the [Search] tool to see if someone hasn't already started the conversation you're looking for.
• If you have an idea for a new topic, suggest it here in this thread first. We'll decide if it deserves its own space (the exception here is the Betting shop competitions, which have their own set of rules).
• Don't start entire threads just to ask a single question—you can drop those in the Chat topic or the relevant "specialized" topics.
• Your thread title should actually mean something; someone should be able to tell what the discussion is about just by reading the headline.
• Ideally, start your title with a capital letter and keep it short and sweet.
• Try to make your opening post constructive and high-quality—it sets the tone for a decent conversation.

Violating these rules means your thread gets nuked without warning. Honestly, I don't think we need extra warnings when everything is laid out clearly right here. If you keep posting low-effort threads, you'll likely face a multi-day ban. As for bad titles, the mods will just edit them however they see fit.

2. Writing Messages [posts]

• Don't post the exact same message across different threads or subforums.
• Read through the existing replies before you post so you aren't just repeating what everyone else already said.
• Keep the off-topic chatter and private conversations to the designated Chat topic.
• Avoid using ALL CAPS. WRITING LIKE THIS FEELS LIKE YOU'RE SHOUTING AT US!
• If you're replying to a very old thread, please make sure what you're adding is actually worth the attention.
• Posting nothing but smiley faces isn't allowed. If you don't have anything to contribute, there's no need to spam (again, the Chat topic is the exception here).
• If you realize you missed something in a post you just made, just use the EDIT button instead of making a whole new reply.
• Don't go overboard with the emojis. Two or three is plenty to convey a mood.
• Please don't comment on moderator actions, warnings, or bans—there's a specific place for that elsewhere. on the forum

Breaking these rules will result in your post being deleted without warning—you might get a warning card first, but if you keep pushing it or just ignore us, you'll face a ban. Also, just a heads-up: posting the exact same thing over and over will likely land you a multi-day ban.

3. Quoting

• Learn how to quote properly—basically, make sure you're using the
tag correctly.
• When you're replying, please quote the specific message you're actually responding to.
• If someone posts a massive wall of text, don't feel obligated to quote the whole thing; just grab the relevant parts.
• Avoid quoting posts that contain images—just strip the image out of your quote! (The only exception here is when you're quoting winning tickets)
• Don't be that person who quotes a whole post just to reply with a single emoji! (Unless we're in the Chat topic)
• Do not quote posts that are offensive, spammy, or otherwise garbage.

Violating this set of rules means your post gets nuked without notice. Re-posting the same content will almost certainly lead to a short ban.

4. Recommendations & Etiquette

• If you spot a thread or a post that’s clearly breaking the rules, just hit the "Report Post" button to let the moderators handle it.
• Honestly, my advice? Don't bother arguing with those types of posts—just report them or simply ignore them.
• When you're copying snippets or entire articles from other sites or forums, it’s polite to credit the source (e.g., "taken from..."). Note that this doesn't apply to info pulled from various blogs, since advertising those is strictly forbidden.
• If you have questions about the rules or potential penalties, feel free to ask them here. That said, I'd suggest sending any appeals regarding warnings to the designated sub-forum. You can also contest warnings there, specifically here.
• If you want to claim a specific stake or role, you need to provide proof—like a scan, photo, or screenshot of the ticket showing the stake. If you aren't willing to show that, then it's better not to mention the stake at all.
• We don't do much talking about specific amounts (what was wagered, won, or lost) unless you provide proof of the bet; otherwise, it's just pointless chatter.
A ticket should include all the essentials: part of the code (to prove it's a real wager), the event played, whether it won or lost, and the amount, if you're choosing to discuss figures.
• If there's legitimate doubt about whether your claims regarding bets (wins or losses) are true, moderators will require proof via a scan, photo, or screenshot showing the stake.
• All the picks/tips shared here are given out of pure goodwill by our members; nobody is guaranteeing a 100% win rate. No one is forcing you to follow these picks, so please don't attack the person who posted them if they happen to lose.
• Let's skip the endless, repetitive debates about "inside info" or "rigged games"—especially right after an event ends—unless you actually have concrete evidence to back it up.
• Please, enough with the discussions on Martingale or similar "betting systems"—we've talked this to death already.
• If you have something you aren't willing to share with the rest of the community, then don't bring it up! Posts like "PM me if you want the picks" will result in a warning card.
• Nobody cares about your picks or tips from other websites or forums if you aren't posting them here; trying to pull that kind of self-promotion will be treated as advertising.
• Don't pay anyone for subscriptions—especially not some random blogger. If you're dead set on paying for a service, stick to verified tipsters. Instead, just check out the Betting shop sub-forum (topics covering tennis, soccer, baseball, NBA, etc.) where you'll find much better picks and advice than anything those snake-oil salesmen are peddling.

Breaking these group rules means your post gets nuked without a heads-up—maybe a warning card first, but if you keep pushing it or just ignore us, you're looking at a ban. Also, spamming the exact same message is a quick way to get a multi-day ban.

5. Key Discussion Threads

Betting shop topic list

Please don't start new threads for topics we already cover (most of which are under Hot Topics). Before you go jumping in to create a whole new thread, just pitch your idea here in this thread first—we'll take a look and see if it actually deserves its own space (unless it's regarding Betting shop competitions, obviously).

Violating this specific rule will land you a three-day ban.

NOTE: Please don't reply directly to moderator warnings (those posts in red font)—just follow the instructions provided there.

I hope these rules seem pretty straightforward and fair—we just want to keep things running smoothly so we can all keep enjoying the community. 🤷
If you have any complaints, suggestions, or whatever else, please just drop them here in this thread.

Yours truly, Eric Fox7

Henry Patel20 said:thanks for the links

Yeah, I actually wish someone would just make the call for me—if I see one sportsbook dominating a poll, I’d probably just pull the trigger on them right there. Honestly, that’s how most new bettors approach things anyway; at the very least, they wouldn't waste hours digging through every single option out there.
I think polls are a decent idea, though—it’s basically just adding another thread (maybe we could even fold it into an existing one?) since we already have separate threads for every sport, betting systems, weekly breakdowns, community tournaments, league coverage, odds, and bonuses... not to mention how there seems to be a dedicated thread for almost every day of the year.

Like I already mentioned, a poll isn't going to 🤷

We've run polls a few times before and they never really yield anything useful. The sample size is just too small to draw any real conclusions—plus, most people here are just rotating between four or five sites like DraftKings, FanDuel, or BetMGM, which aren't even breaking into the top tier of global sportsbooks. Besides, there's plenty of info on those already. This sportsbook review section should be more than enough to help you decide, or you can always just drop a question in the thread and let someone give you a recommendation. 😉

Henry Patel20 said:I just spent a good chunk of time digging through some deep dives on online gambling—read about 50 pages worth of stuff regarding how things work here in the States—and man, it’s a mess. If you look at the big international sportsbooks, everyone is split; people are throwing out three or four different theories, and honestly, I can't make heads or tails of any of it. It’s all over the place. Then, if you check out what people are saying about our local domestic books, it's basically just constant bashing. Everyone seems to have a bone to pick with companies like DraftKings or whatever else is running the show around here. Just total negativity.🤷

Honestly, I’m not sure what you’re actually looking for here—it’s kind of a toss-up. Everyone has their own specific reasons for picking one sportsbook over another, so people are pretty split. For some folks, it’s all about having a massive variety of markets to bet on; for others, it’s more about getting better odds on single bets. Then you’ve got the crowd that just wants lightning-fast payouts, or the ones who live for the live betting options. Because everyone prioritizes something different, it’s nearly impossible to crown one "best" site. Just dive into these threads on Reddit and see if you can make sense of it yourself—then you can decide which one actually fits your style. 🤷
You can't seriously be suggesting they’d pick anyone over you, right? 🤔)

I mean, I’ve been looking at the numbers—and let’s be honest, the numbers don't lie—but people still want to argue about it. It’s like watching someone try to explain why they lost money on a parlay when the results were staring them right in the face. You look at what DraftKings is putting out there versus what you see on Oddschecker, and it’s pretty clear where the edge is supposed to be. But then you have guys like James Taylor3 coming in with these wild theories, acting like they’ve cracked some secret code that the rest of us missed. It’s funny, really. I was scrolling through some old threads on Reddit the other day—just falling down a rabbit hole, as one does—and I saw similar nonsense being debated. It’s always the same cycle. Even with the latest TV ratings showing how much interest there actually is in these matchups, people still prefer to sit in their own little bubbles. Honestly, if you aren't paying attention to the actual data, you might as well just throw your chips in the air and hope for the best. It’s not rocket science, though I suppose for some, it feels that way.
I mean, look—if we’re being honest here, I think some people are totally missing the forest for the trees. It’s easy to get caught up in the noise, but you have to look at the actual data if you want any sense of reality. I was scrolling through some threads on Reddit earlier—just trying to make sense of the recent shifts—and it really struck me how much the consensus changes depending on who you ask. You have one group convinced that everything is heading toward a cliff, and then you have another group that's basically acting like nothing is happening at all. It’s wild. Anyway, regarding what James Taylor3 was saying—which, granted, was a bit of a stretch—I still can't quite wrap my head around the logic there. It feels like we're overcomplicating something that should be pretty straightforward. If you follow the trends we saw last quarter, the trajectory is actually fairly predictable, even if it isn't particularly pretty to look at. But hey, that's just my two cents. We'll see if anyone actually listens once the next set of reports drops.

Anyway:

I honestly don't know where to start with this one—it’s just one of those things that stays on my mind—but let me tell you, some people really think they have it all figured out until reality hits them right in the face. It’s like watching someone try to drive through downtown Chicago during a blizzard thinking they can just power through it without changing their tires. You can't. You just can't. Anyway, I was reading through some threads on Reddit earlier, and it’s funny how everyone has an opinion on everything lately. One minute you're looking at sports betting trends on DraftKings, and the next, you're deep in a debate about whether the latest TV ratings actually reflect what people are watching or if it's all just skewed by whoever has the biggest marketing budget. It’s a mess. I saw what James Taylor3 was saying about the recent shifts in the market—and look, I get where he's coming from—but I think he's missing the forest for the trees. It’s not just about the raw numbers; it's about the sentiment behind them. Even when you check Oddschecker to see where the smart money is moving, there's always that underlying layer of human error that throws a wrench in the whole machine. It reminds me of that time I tried to explain the nuances of local zoning laws to a friend—total waste of breath, obviously—but the point remains: context is everything. We tend to overcomplicate things when the answer is usually staring us right in the nose. Or maybe we undercomplicate them because we're too lazy to look closer. Who knows? Probably both. kaže:
Look, I’ve already told you—this has been covered more times than I can count in this thread—but hey, I’m feeling generous today, so I’ll give you a hand:

You should probably find a complete list of almost every online sportsbook right here—complete with full reviews and letter grades ranging from A+ (the gold standard) all the way down to F- (the absolute bottom of the barrel).

Check out these latest TV ratings over at Sportsbook Review—it’s actually pretty wild when you look at the numbers. It feels like everyone is talking about this lately, though I feel like we always end up circling back to the same debates on Reddit anyway.

Anyway, here are just a few threads where people have been going back and forth about online betting—mostly just some old discussions you can find over on Reddit. 🤷:

Check out this thread over on Reddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/discussion_thread_1
Reddit
I was scrolling through some old threads on Reddit the other day—you know how it goes, falling down a rabbit hole at 2 AM—and I stumbled upon this discussion about the betting landscape. It’s funny how much things have shifted, isn't it? Back when we used to rely on just a few local spots, everything felt so much more... localized, I guess? Now, with DraftKings basically everywhere, the whole game has changed. It’s all digital, all instant, and honestly, a little overwhelming if you aren't careful. I remember reading a thread where someone was complaining about how hard it is to find decent lines compared to the old days of using Oddschecker to hunt for value. They weren't wrong, though—the math has gotten a lot more aggressive. I saw a comment from James Taylor3 mentioning how the volatility in certain markets is getting out of hand. He had a point there. It’s not just about picking a winner anymore; it’s about navigating these massive algorithms that seem to know what you're thinking before you even place the bet. It reminds me of those old debates about whether the house always wins—which, let's be real, is usually a safe bet—but now the "house" is a supercomputer in a data center somewhere in Virginia. Anyway, I digress. The point is, the way we look at odds and handle our bankrolls has evolved from a casual hobby into something that feels almost like a full-time job for some people. It’s a different world.
Reddit

It’s honestly wild how everyone’s become so incredibly lazy—just sitting around waiting for life to be served to them on a silver platter. 🙄 And honestly, I think I’m even more of a glutton for punishment because I end up helping them almost every single time. 🤦

I swear, I’m eventually going to have someone asking me to place their online bets for them. 🙂
