Betting shop Subforum Rules
Look, this subforum is basically where people hang out to unwind after work, school, or whatever else life throws at them—and hopefully pick up a few useful betting tips along the way to actually make some money. Because of that vibe, we’re happy to be a bit more relaxed here than in most other sections of the site. That said, we still need some ground rules to keep things from descending into chaos.
I’ve essentially "borrowed" these rules from our colleague MEP over on the Football PDF section, though I’ve tweaked them a bit to fit our specific needs here. 👍
The Essentials
• No advertising of any kind in your posts (especially those sites or bloggers trying to peddle "expert" picks)
• Selling tips—what people call "inside info"—is strictly forbidden on this subforum.
• When a moderator drops a warning or instruction in red text, don't argue with it—just follow it.
• If you're posting images, keep them as thumbnails or direct uploads, but cap the resolution at 640 pixels and the file size at roughly 200kb.
• Make sure to check out the Signature Formatting Rules
• Of course, all general Site Terms of Service still apply.
Breaking these rules will result in your post being deleted without a heads-up, followed by a warning card (and eventually a ban if you keep doing it).
1. Starting and Naming Threads [topics]
• Take a quick look around first to make sure you’re starting a discussion in the right place.
• Don't cross-post the exact same thread in multiple sections or subforums.
• Before you hit that "new thread" button, use the [Search] tool to see if someone hasn't already started the conversation you're looking for.
• If you have an idea for a new topic, suggest it here in this thread first. We'll decide if it deserves its own space (the exception here is the Betting shop competitions, which have their own set of rules).
• Don't start entire threads just to ask a single question—you can drop those in the Chat topic or the relevant "specialized" topics.
• Your thread title should actually mean something; someone should be able to tell what the discussion is about just by reading the headline.
• Ideally, start your title with a capital letter and keep it short and sweet.
• Try to make your opening post constructive and high-quality—it sets the tone for a decent conversation.
Violating these rules means your thread gets nuked without warning. Honestly, I don't think we need extra warnings when everything is laid out clearly right here. If you keep posting low-effort threads, you'll likely face a multi-day ban. As for bad titles, the mods will just edit them however they see fit.
2. Writing Messages [posts]
• Don't post the exact same message across different threads or subforums.
• Read through the existing replies before you post so you aren't just repeating what everyone else already said.
• Keep the off-topic chatter and private conversations to the designated Chat topic.
• Avoid using ALL CAPS. WRITING LIKE THIS FEELS LIKE YOU'RE SHOUTING AT US!
• If you're replying to a very old thread, please make sure what you're adding is actually worth the attention.
• Posting nothing but smiley faces isn't allowed. If you don't have anything to contribute, there's no need to spam (again, the Chat topic is the exception here).
• If you realize you missed something in a post you just made, just use the EDIT button instead of making a whole new reply.
• Don't go overboard with the emojis. Two or three is plenty to convey a mood.
• Please don't comment on moderator actions, warnings, or bans—there's a specific place for that elsewhere. on the forum

3. Quoting
• Learn how to quote properly—basically, make sure you're using thetag correctly.
• When you're replying, please quote the specific message you're actually responding to.
• If someone posts a massive wall of text, don't feel obligated to quote the whole thing; just grab the relevant parts.
• Avoid quoting posts that contain images—just strip the image out of your quote! (The only exception here is when you're quoting winning tickets)
• Don't be that person who quotes a whole post just to reply with a single emoji! (Unless we're in the Chat topic)
• Do not quote posts that are offensive, spammy, or otherwise garbage.
Violating this set of rules means your post gets nuked without notice. Re-posting the same content will almost certainly lead to a short ban.
4. Recommendations & Etiquette
• If you spot a thread or a post that’s clearly breaking the rules, just hit the "Report Post" button to let the moderators handle it.
• Honestly, my advice? Don't bother arguing with those types of posts—just report them or simply ignore them.
• When you're copying snippets or entire articles from other sites or forums, it’s polite to credit the source (e.g., "taken from..."). Note that this doesn't apply to info pulled from various blogs, since advertising those is strictly forbidden.
• If you have questions about the rules or potential penalties, feel free to ask them here. That said, I'd suggest sending any appeals regarding warnings to the designated sub-forum. You can also contest warnings there, specifically here.
• If you want to claim a specific stake or role, you need to provide proof—like a scan, photo, or screenshot of the ticket showing the stake. If you aren't willing to show that, then it's better not to mention the stake at all.
• We don't do much talking about specific amounts (what was wagered, won, or lost) unless you provide proof of the bet; otherwise, it's just pointless chatter.
A ticket should include all the essentials: part of the code (to prove it's a real wager), the event played, whether it won or lost, and the amount, if you're choosing to discuss figures.
• If there's legitimate doubt about whether your claims regarding bets (wins or losses) are true, moderators will require proof via a scan, photo, or screenshot showing the stake.
• All the picks/tips shared here are given out of pure goodwill by our members; nobody is guaranteeing a 100% win rate. No one is forcing you to follow these picks, so please don't attack the person who posted them if they happen to lose.
• Let's skip the endless, repetitive debates about "inside info" or "rigged games"—especially right after an event ends—unless you actually have concrete evidence to back it up.
• Please, enough with the discussions on Martingale or similar "betting systems"—we've talked this to death already.
• If you have something you aren't willing to share with the rest of the community, then don't bring it up! Posts like "PM me if you want the picks" will result in a warning card.
• Nobody cares about your picks or tips from other websites or forums if you aren't posting them here; trying to pull that kind of self-promotion will be treated as advertising.
• Don't pay anyone for subscriptions—especially not some random blogger. If you're dead set on paying for a service, stick to verified tipsters. Instead, just check out the Betting shop sub-forum (topics covering tennis, soccer, baseball, NBA, etc.) where you'll find much better picks and advice than anything those snake-oil salesmen are peddling.

5. Key Discussion Threads
Betting shop topic list
Please don't start new threads for topics we already cover (most of which are under Hot Topics). Before you go jumping in to create a whole new thread, just pitch your idea here in this thread first—we'll take a look and see if it actually deserves its own space (unless it's regarding Betting shop competitions, obviously).
Violating this specific rule will land you a three-day ban.
NOTE: Please don't reply directly to moderator warnings (those posts in red font)—just follow the instructions provided there.
I hope these rules seem pretty straightforward and fair—we just want to keep things running smoothly so we can all keep enjoying the community. 🤷
