I've been tinkering with computers since I was a kid. The first thing I ever did was try to download drivers for my OS and actually install them. During the installation, it asks me to plug the printer into a USB port so it can detect the connection. I do exactly that, wait 20 minutes, and then the software tells me it couldn't find anything. I repeated the whole process 20 times, and it's the same result every single time.
And yeah, I already tried different USB ports.
I'm having the exact same issue installing my webcam. When it prompts me to plug it in so the software can detect it, nothing happens.

I've got four cameras. Two from Canyon, one Labtec, and one Sweex, if I remember right. None of them are working on this machine, even though they work fine on another computer. The printer is an EPSON Stylus SX215 all-in-one.
Ever since I switched over to Windows 7, whenever I plug something into a USB port that doesn't have pre-installed drivers, I get an error saying the device isn't recognized. This means the standard method of just plugging it in and letting the driver install itself doesn't work for me. Specifically, it’s been happening with my camera and my printer.
I haven't really felt the need to reinstall the OS myself, but I guess things just start accumulating a bunch of digital clutter over time—not talking about actual programs or files, just general system junk.
Hi everyone. I don't post here very often, so please excuse me if I've messed up the thread format or posted in the wrong subforum. 😬
I'm having some trouble installing drivers for certain devices that prompt me to plug them into a USB port during the setup process. I suspect this might be because the standard Windows USB drivers aren't quite handling everything correctly.
Every once in a while, I find it necessary to reinstall the OS because it tends to "degrade" over time. I use TuneUp Utilities to regularly clean up the registry and other system files, but that's no substitute for a clean install. 😁
That time has come, and these driver issues are pretty much convincing me that it's time for a change. The thing is, I really don't want to deal with reinstalling about 20 different programs I use frequently, re-downloading 8 games where I might lose my save files, or backing up all my important data from the C drive. A repair install seems like a better option for me. Could someone explain exactly what a repair install replaces and what actually stays intact? If I this right, my programs should stay put (and I assume the registry remains untouched as well, is that correct?), along with my personal files, though I'd still need to redo the drivers. Am I on the right track?
Your speed isn't determined by the .cfg file; it’s up to your ISP. I doubt you'll be able to change that. Besides, there are probably a billion other reasons why your game might be lagging.
I’d probably just go with the GTX 460 with 1 GB of VRAM. If you absolutely have to get up to $667, I guess I'd just wait a bit longer. I wouldn't touch the NVIDIA GF100, though, mostly because of that damn heat it puts off and how much power it pulls. The Aleutian Islands are starting to feel imminent, and honestly, so is some price stabilization.
I don't have any, because I don't see how it would be useful for me—it would just be extra power draw. My PC doesn't even have a plexiglass side panel, so I have no need for flashy lighting.

I'm probably not going to post more pictures just yet, since I'm planning on doing something bigger pretty soon. It'll likely be a little project lasting a few weeks. I'm not sure if it'll turn into anything major, but we'll see. I honestly hate this case because it's way too cramped and the design is just awkward. 😁 If I had known, I would have gone with the NZXT gamma take T. T
Use the edit button instead of posting one reply after another 🤦 PC Case Modding is worth doing even if you’re working with a junk rig. It isn't about showing off expensive parts; it’s about showing off your imagination and what you can do with a chassis. My setup is decent enough, I guess. My case is total trash though xD But I'm not giving up on it just because it's garbage. I bet there are a few pages of photos tucked away somewhere that I lost. Link to the post. Found it.
I'm planning to tidy up my torrent machine next. It has a Gibbyte Micro-ATX motherboard in there, though I'm not entirely sure which model. It has integrated graphics. The processor is an incredibly quiet and cool LE-1640 😬 I used a stock AMD cooler rated for 95W, even though this CPU only has a 45W TDP. At 2.6 GHz, I underclock it to 2 GHz and drop the voltage to below 1V, and boom—it runs fine on just the passive heatsink from the stock cooler 🤣 Over the weekend, I'll probably cut a hole in the side panel for a 12cm fan. I'm thinking of running it at 5V, just enough to get some airflow so the motherboard and power supply—if not the CPU itself—can breathe a little. I want to keep this machine completely silent 😁 I didn't realize 7200.11 was this quiet 😍 It's a great feeling, turning on a computer and having no idea it's even running until you hear the POST beep.
I don't have a hole saw for my drill, so I'll just have to figure out another way to make the opening for that heatsink.
The US tour has officially kicked off. I can't wait for 😁 They’ve already played some shows here, and somehow I haven't made it to a single concert yet. What are they actually like? How is the crowd—can you actually survive in the front rows, or does everyone just crush you? Also, does anyone know what their setlist looks like? I've been trying to track it down, but I can't find anything online. Thanks 😬
Even if they perform better, we're talking about a 1% difference at most. It’s negligible, really. I'd suggest going with x64 if you have 8GB of RAM, which you'll definitely need 😁 By the way, 32-bit Windows = x86.
