Is it actually worth upgrading my graphics card right now?
Here’s the setup: currently running an NVIDIA GeForce 8800
looking at moving to a sapphire AMD Radeon HD 4850
The rest of my main gear: a Gigabyte P35 DS3 motherboard an Intel Core 2 Duo e8200 and 3 GB of RAM
The AMD card would run me about $167 used, and I could probably offload my current one for maybe $40 or $50. I'm just trying to figure out if this move makes any sense.
The only one who actually kept things interesting today! I honestly think Ferrari overestimated what Red Bull could pull off. If they had gone all-out right from the jump, they might have snatched up a few more podium spots! As for Felipe, I’m at a loss for words—it’s pretty clear that the US GP just isn't his race.
Adrian Sutil and Nico Hulkenberg just got hit with 20-second penalties! That moves Felipe Massa up to 8th place, bringing his total to 128 points, while the Ferrari team sits at 319 overall.
The drama unfolding at this circuit has been the absolute highlight of the season so far, but man, seeing such blatant injustice happen is just mind-blowing!

If they're found to be in the wrong, they'll likely face a 25-second penalty, which would knock pretty much everyone out of the points.
Meanwhile, Felipe Massa and Fernando Alonso are sliding right into their well-earned positions...

Man, you've got it all wrong—this was a total setup. Seeing a backmarker jump straight into 4th place like that is unheard of! Usually, when a slower car slices through, they stay ahead of the leader, and the order stays locked until the leader catches back up, and *then* everyone can dive into the pits. But this move against Fernando Alonso? It completely breaks the flow!
The hype surrounding Kubica was just unreal—from the commentators down to the team itself. They built him up so much during qualifying; it felt like they were practically handing him the win! And sure, he crushed those qualifying times, which made everyone think he was untouchable. But once the actual race started and everyone found their rhythm, that massive buildup just evaporated. He ended up fading into the background, finishing 7th, while those of us watching from home could see his car just didn't have the pace to compete in Canada. It turns out all that media frenzy from the pundits about him being a huge factor for the US or a lock for the podium was way overblown. In the end, the reality of the race proved that the hype train went off the rails.
You're better off putting your bets on Ferrari; they’re the ones who are actually going to be running the show in the next few races...
Roger Wright94 said:Massa ended up where he did yesterday simply due to an incredibly unlucky string of events. I wouldn't pin the opening incident solely on Liuzzi (though I think he bears more responsibility), and Felipe was just a bit clumsy—or maybe indecisive—during his duel with Michael (which is much easier to stomach given the mutual respect they share).
If Massa had made it through that first corner with a healthy car, I'm inclined to believe he would have finished at least within striking distance of Red Bull, if not right ahead of them.
And finally, hats off once again to the winners! It was a flawless performance from start to finish, both in terms of driving skill and team execution! 👍 Ferrari was performing at a very similar level 👍, but for us, the big question remains how we'll handle upcoming races (since McLaren's momentum is absolutely undeniable). On average, the top three were about half a second per lap faster than Red Bull. 🙏
Alonso mentioned that they've fine-tuned the car for Kandau, but noted it's still not quite hitting the target they're aiming for. They're currently prepping a new upgrade package for Valencia, and he believes that's where we'll see the real breakthrough in development.
