Dennis Torres said:That’s what I was saying... just because I saw how someone overdoses in a movie doesn't mean I belong to that group of people who have never picked up a book in their entire lives.

Good grief... 😬I wasn't implying you've never read a single thing in your life; my point was simply that there are plenty of other ways to get information *besides* just watching movies.

[Sure, most people, thank God, watch enough films to pick things up along the way. 😬 But again, don't rely solely on Hollywood for your education. 😬]

Then, of course, there's that specific type of person I mentioned earlier.

I was actually just reacting to Joey's post where he claims
"I don't know how this is common knowledge to all of you ."

But honestly, why wouldn't we know?

We stay informed. 😁

Joe said:And who exactly brought up those "American" movies? 😕

I don't know, someone brought up Pulp Fiction earlier...

Look, I already made my point: movies aren't the only way to get informed. Whether you're watching an American production, something from France, or a Japanese flick, they're just one small slice of the pie. 🙄

Internships might be useful for some people, I guess... ☕ I have honestly never encountered a book category like this in my entire life.

Look, let's be real here... Hollywood movies aren't exactly the sole blueprint for how reality actually works. ☕

Charles Young said:If we’re following that line of reasoning, then grabbing a beer or even just a cup of coffee is basically a slippery slope straight to heroin, because it starts with caffeine and alcohol and eventually spirals into synthetics and hard drugs, right?

Exactly—it’s a progression. You start with tea containing theine, move on to coffee or a caffeinated soda, then maybe reach for an over-the-counter pill with codeine for a headache, and before you know it, you're crossing over into the rest of the "-ines."😬

That’s the part that really gets me... society treats it like a total disaster when kids smoke weed, yet we act like it’s perfectly fine when grandparents spend fifteen years popping Xanax [just because they can't get to sleep...]. 🙄

Let's just be honest about it: we're all addicts in one way or another.😁

And don't even get me started on the numbers... 😁

Oh, please, go ahead—enlighten me then, since my comment apparently rubbed you the wrong way.

In other words: convince me otherwise. Because, frankly, I haven't exactly noticed the Catholic Church giving its blessing to premarital sex or the use of condoms and birth control. 🙄

I still operate under the assumption that if everyone were actually as devout as they claim to be, we wouldn't be seeing such staggering abortion rates across the country. 🥳

Exactly, because if they actually did their jobs and nuked the 95% of mindless threads cluttering this site, we wouldn't even have a reason to log on anymore... 🥳

And looking back at my history, I just realized I've actually contributed more posts to this specific thread than anyone else... 😲 😬

Fine, here’s my take...
in my part of the country... I can name at least five right off the bat; and there are probably more, assuming I don't go around interrogating everyone I know about what they're doing behind closed doors... which, honestly, isn't something I care to do. 😬

Everyone knows the rules for what a "Catholic" is allowed to do and what isn't. If someone is a true Catholic, they aren't sleeping together before marriage. Period.🥳

Exactly. 👍

I honestly have zero patience for those "I’ll practice self-love before marriage, use birth control, and if I end up pregnant, I guess we'll just have a white wedding in a chapel while I'm showing" types of Catholics. 🙄 😬

It's especially grating when those exact same people turn around and act like they have some divine authority to lecture everyone else on how to live their lives. 👎

Carl Hernandez2 said:And while we’re talking about kid counts... and those Catholics of yours. What on earth does my personal number of children have to do with anything?!

The reason I'm venting is because absolutely nobody has bothered to address what I pointed out several pages back in this thread...

And here are the following FACTS [and if you want to play skeptic, go ahead and check the official records held by the Department of Health and Human Services regarding pregnancy terminations at medical facilities across the US]:

#1: The largest group of women seeking abortions falls within the 30-39 AGE RANGE. -> So, surprise, surprise—we aren't just talking about teenagers here. 🙄

#2: The highest percentage of women requesting an abortion ARE MARRIED (66.1%). 🙄

#3: Among all women seeking abortions, the biggest demographic
is actually those who already have two children—34.9%.
🙄

Now, take a look at the general percentage of Catholics in this country, compare it to the total number of women in America, and tell me how many of those women getting abortions are actually Catholic. Then, feel free to draw your own little conclusions from that. 🙂

That’s all I have to say to that. As far as I'm concerned, you guys can keep going with this mindless back-and-forth; I highly doubt I’ll ever get a straight answer to my actual question. 🙂 It’s always the same story when people run out of real arguments... 🙄
Michael Perez said:And they actually pulled that off!

Well, in my world, Santa leaves me a present under the tree every single year!👍
I mean, look, if you just throw a surgeon and an anesthesiologist into a van... 🙄

Then, if you get lucky enough to find someone whose organs actually match the recipient—which, obviously, requires a crystal ball for that part.

Honestly, I don't even get why people bother going to medical school. You could basically get the same results by just grabbing the butcher from your local grocery store. 👍

If it’s that easy, why on earth do we only have three or four transplant centers in the entire country? Why can't this be done on every street corner?

Now you guys are seriously starting to talk nonsense. ☕ Seriously, there are a FEW paranoid people in here.

No, no, no.

Look, here’s how it actually works:

A woman who gets pregnant and decides she wants an abortion is being framed as some kind of loose woman who was sleeping around with the first guy she met; because she didn't think things through beforehand, she now has to deal with the consequences, effectively becoming a killer—and you can slap whatever labels you want on her.

I’m just asking how we’re supposed to label the guy she got pregnant with—the one who also sleeps around without thinking about the fallout, refuses to step up as a father, and is perfectly fine with her having an abortion? What do we call him? 😍
Emergency: My friend is pregnant in Health ·
So, here’s how I see it...

#1 A woman gets pregnant, she doesn't want the baby, he doesn't want the baby, so she has an abortion. Fine. She posts about it online, and he plays the victim.

#2 A woman gets pregnant, she wants the baby, he doesn't want the baby, so she keeps it. She becomes a single mother. 😁

#3 A woman gets pregnant, she wants the baby, he wants the baby, so she keeps it. Everything works out perfectly. 😍

#4 [And this is probably the most sensitive scenario] A woman gets pregnant, she doesn't want the baby, but he does. What happens then? You can't exactly chain her to the bed until she gives birth just so you can take the child afterward. Or can you? 😬

I'm stuck on that first scenario. What kind of guy is he? Is he going to end up in hell for betraying a soul like that? 😢 😈

Look, you're missing the point here... I'm asking a very specific question, and you're hitting me back with these broad generalizations. I'm not asking about when a man wants a woman to keep the kid; I'm asking about what he DOESN'T WANT?

Do you get what I'm saying? That's the actual question. That's what I'm trying to dig into. What's the actual stance there?
Edward Green said:I honestly don't get why someone wouldn't want their kidney to help somebody else. What's the point if they're already dead?

Alright, I'm with you on that one.

But then again, I'm just as much in agreement with this:

Hannah Edwards said:Neither the government nor any single individual should ever be granted absolute authority over my organs—whether I'm breathing or not.

See, it's the same logic. Why pass a law saying all deceased bodies should basically be donated to medical schools? They're already struggling with a chronic shortage of "teaching materials," as they call it. I doubt everyone would be screaming "they're just corpses" if it were framed that way, even though those cadavers would be incredibly useful too.

That said, yeah, transplantation definitely saves lives in critical situations, and there's no denying how vital that is.
