Handball World Cup: USA vs. Poland (28-24) in Other Sports ·

rustywalker1 said:I'm really hoping the Americans can snag a point from the Poles—it would go a long way toward us beating everyone else...

How realistic is it that the Americans actually pull that off?
Also, does anyone know where I can find those H2H stats the OP was using... maybe somewhere official?
I can't recall a single championship since 2003 where the refs didn't absolutely screw us over in at least one game...

There was this one brutal match against the French, where all that heavy-handed hacking from Gil, Dominic, and their defense was totally allowed—it barely even felt like handball anymore. Meanwhile, the French guys were walking away with maybe 4 or 6 minutes of penalties total... honestly, if that isn't proof of how broken this sport is, I don't know what is.

It’s a shame, really—I grew up loving this game, so it's hard to just walk away from it, unlike water polo, which I couldn't care less about. And man, basketball has been a struggle to follow too, with the officiating being just as inconsistent and biased...

But what they're doing to us in handball—and it's not just us, look back at that whole mess with the Germans during the World Championships in Germany...
The whole thing is just a farce.

If anyone actually wants to fix this, the leaders of the handball federations—the ones who aren't tied to those Northern Gypsies (that's what I call them)—would have to pull a real power move. They'd need to infiltrate the IHF and EHF and tear them down from the inside.

Or, Option B: just walk off the court when the refs start playing butcher. That would set a real precedent. We should stop showing up to tournaments until things change, and we should do it with conviction. But having a backbone is what matters most.

This is the worst part—we've spent the last decade just letting some heavy-set Swedes and Danes push us around.
Americans scored 4 goals in the second half.
Good grief, even the Australians are scoring more than this... 🤣
Man, I can't believe it—Romania vs. Algeria at 1:13 PM, with just five minutes left on the clock🤣
What kind of lifeless handball is that? They only managed six goals the entire second half...😲

That’s probably the most brutal thing anyone has said... 🤣
Looking back at how much I laughed about this before, I can't help but laugh again now... 🤣

is basically the undisputed heavyweight champ of pure ego...

Both of them are total disasters...
Period.

All this talk about how arrogant Americans are—which keeps coming up—could just as easily apply to how they look down on us in Canada. Honestly, you wouldn't have won that Davis Cup or those handball trophies if it wasn't for the talent coming out of Canada. And don't even get me started on football. In Canada, nobody complains about it. People move away for better opportunities, more money, and actual career paths. That's just how it works... simple math and common sense.

What kind of "patriotism" are we even talking about? The people paying the bills? You shouldn't look for patriotism from the crooks sitting in the government. They're paid to care about something else entirely...

The amount of money America poured into Jakob Fak—and that one medal he secured—it’s just way too much.

🙏🙏
swiftwalker43 said:Oh, please 😂 I just love talking to armchair experts—why don't you enlighten us with those "arguments" of yours?!

I'm not even going to bother arguing with you... I learned a long time ago that there's no point talking to a brick wall.
And that whole bit about the armchair critics... You sound just like that big-shot police chief Vitomir bijeliš when he told Togonal on a local news broadcast:

"Look, please, I'm the Chief of Police and he's just some regular citizen, so just explain to him that I'm right." 🤣
🙂
that’s basically the vibe here...
Paul Jones7 is absolutely tearing him apart in this debate.
What’s even the point of dismantling an argument when this guy just doesn't get it... 🤷
Jose White18 said:... he could be publishing papers at an American institute for a Nobel Prize, whereas here, his ceiling would just be some local award from Washington, D.C.

The point is, we can think whatever we want about guys like Jakob Fak—but let's not make up excuses to block them from choosing their own path...

🙏

Exactly—I'm right there with you and Paul Jones7 on this... 👍

As for everyone else—just leave the guy alone with all that traitorous, greedy nonsense and maybe look at your own lives for a change.

Was she the one who ended up in the Latin section once? 😕
Personally, I almost ended up under John Smith's knife myself—all because of my nose.
Everything was pretty much set, and I was supposed to get a few checkups done at other hospitals first, but I couldn't make it happen due to scheduling issues and stuff. When I mentioned it to the doctor, he just shrugged it off and said, "Oh, don't worry, those tests aren't that critical."

Look, I get that an EKG isn't some life-altering diagnostic, but honestly... if there's a major heart issue, wouldn't that basic test catch it? It would definitely help gauge the surgical risk... or whatever!

Anyway, that attitude of his really put a damper on things for me, so I backed out of the whole operation. If I hadn't, maybe I’d be dead by now—or maybe I’d just have a few more dates under my belt... 🙂
Is 18 too late? in Other Sports ·
John Evans44 said:I'm 18 and just started my freshman year at college in Cleveland. I really want to start playing tennis. It's always been a dream of mine, but since I grew up in a tiny town, I never really had the chance to get into sports. Is it too late for tennis? Or would you recommend something else????? 🤷🙄

I'm 30 and feeling pretty much the same way... 🙂
The only issue is my body isn't exactly cooperating 😂

Generally speaking, in pro tennis—especially for women—if you're starting at 18, there's basically nothing left to chase. By that age, those girls who have been training since they were six or seven are already elite if they want to keep making money, or else... well, you know how it goes.
That's just the common consensus, though, and I'm not one to go against the grain—so here's my advice:

just give it a shot!

And hey, if you actually make it, keep me in the loop... you've got my number 😉
boldeagle3 said:I had septoplasty surgery. Sadly, the outside of my nose looks exactly the same.
I was stuck in the hospital for 7 days.
And those nasal tampons... I had them in for 5 days!!! (It nearly killed me—honestly, breathing through your mouth for 5 days and 5 nights is enough to drive anyone crazy).
Getting the tampons out wasn't actually the hard part, though.

Same thing happened to me, but it was about 10 years ago—I don't remember all the details anymore.
They did something inside my nose, not sure what exactly, related to correcting a deviated septum, but the exterior still looks pretty bad 🙂

Waking up from anesthesia didn't shock me much, though I did vomit blood twice because it had drained down my throat... but at least I knew where I was, what day it was, the month, the year, and all that. 😁

See, they didn't even give me general anesthesia—just local. So I was awake for the whole procedure, and I have to say, it definitely wasn't painless...😢
It was one of the worst experiences of my life, something I'll avoid at any cost, even if I end up looking like Quasimodo...

Just, I should mention, I had this surgery covered by Medicare at the public clinic near the city center, so maybe that's just the difference between actual humanity and just going through the motions...

The only thing that really hurt was my throat for 5 days because of the intubation. It made eating almost impossible, and having to breathe through my mouth was so frustrating, but everything else was fine.
The best thing to do is just sleep through those days in the hospital.

That part is tough to get past, but you adjust after a day or two... it's not a massive trauma.

I didn't deal with diarrhea either.
What was your first time like? in Other Sports ·
Raymond Palmer8 said:I didn't even realize "that" had become an actual competitive sport, haha... at least for the first time.
I'm gonna head over to ESPN+ to see if there's a live stream for any tournaments running right now😁

but maybe the kid is onto something... since "that" is basically the only sport I haven't quit yet🤣

😂🤣
