David Nelson74 said:There’s a million other things I can’t seem to shake, and it’s honestly exhausting... it’s been going on for years now. Some people tell me it’ll eventually taper off, but man, it feels like it’s just getting worse.

heh, and who’s actually going to help me?
medication and a psychiatrist are completely out of the question...

Then go screw yourself. Seriously, keep counting everything until you finally lose your mind.
I’m kidding. I deal with OCD too—well, I used to. I was exactly like you, counting everything in multiples of five.
Finally "met" another human being who counts everything up to five.
What’s weighing on you so heavily that you won't even try a couple of Prozacs a day? If you stick with it for a few months, the symptoms will almost certainly dial back. For what it's worth, I was crushing three Prozacs a day for a year, but it was worth it; I don't feel the need to count everything anymore, and I don't have this obsession with everything being perfectly symmetrical.
Besides, the side effects from the meds aren't even that bad.

Personally, I count everything up to three. 🙄 I’ve been dealing with OCD symptoms since I was about 14—so eight years now—and honestly, I'm just exhausted by it. I just wanted to put that out there, maybe get a little weight off my chest... 😢
Most disturbing movies? in Movies ·
Irreversible. After those disgusting scenes, I can't even look at fire hydrants or extinguishers in downtown Chicago without feeling uneasy...
The Day After Tomorrow—everyone is obsessed with global warming lately, but I find it hard to believe we'll face a flood in the morning, an ice age by lunch, and then everything just thaws out by dinner...

Planet of the Apes—honestly, looking at our government and how things are going here in the States, that vision of the future seems to have already arrived.😁
What's trending in music right now? in Music ·
Unfortunately, it's just all that mainstream pop music. Everywhere I turn, I hear it, and there are way too many people following the hype. I can't think of a single decent track (thank God)... but I've heard enough to know it's just not my style.

analogbison said:If they’d released tracks like this back in the 70s or 80s, they would have been total nobodies... But music today has lost its soul. People care way more about a flashy music video or a hot singer than the actual songwriting... regardless of whether the track holds any weight. Most of what's listed here is just pure commercial filler. I bet legends like Led Zeppelin or Springsteen would want to give up entirely seeing how things have turned out... I can barely find a bar or a club in this country that isn't playing this trash or mindless pop junk...😲😲😲 The good rock 'n' roll from the last millennium has mostly faded into obscurity... A track by The Doors would be fitting here...

This is the end, my only friend, the end...

I’m in. It’s wild that you can’t find a single bar or club around here playing decent classic rock... Nothing. We might just have to open our own spot where it's nothing but Led Zeppelin and The Doors... maybe even some Frank Zappa too... 🙂

my apologies 🙂

Aside from Rehab, most of these tracks are absolute garbage. Umbrella might be the biggest hit of the year, but it’s an earworm in the worst way possible... It's honestly sad how we always get these year-end charts based on what's played the most rather than what's actually good. Real quality music rarely gets airtime on the radio, let alone on MTV...
3 pounds and climbing...😢 Food madness has struck again. I’m eating like a maniac and I just can't seem to stop...
Who would you bring with you to a deserted island? in Miscellaneous ·
Dave Grohl. I mean, what would we even do? We all know exactly how we'd spend our days...😁
Who's your pick to win it all in 2008? in Formula 1 ·
Lewis Hamilton, Lewis Hamilton 🙂 🙂
I hope so, but I’m not holding my breath. I'm sure Max Verstappen will give it everything he's got to make up for last season's mistake...

My family just doesn't get it. When it comes to mental health, they’re incredibly narrow-minded... My mom tries to brush it all under the rug, telling me I just need to "stop acting this way." It makes me feel like there's no point in being honest with them at all. They'd probably just view it as some kind of divine punishment because their daughter is "crazy"... I'm thinking about seeing a private psychiatrist on my own and keeping it entirely to myself. I've honestly had enough. Thanks for the advice, and I really hope I didn't offend you with my last post.

wiredhound32 said:Eve pulled this topic out of thin air, I have no idea where from. Anyway, analogpuma8, you know how I used to deal with things like this. Every single time I drank water, I had to consume a specific number of gulps. I had to place certain objects at an exact angle in a precise spot. Then there was the hoarding—keeping useless scraps of paper and random little trinkets because I was terrified of throwing them away. When I drove, I’d find myself counting the dashed white lines on the highway, forced to reach a specific number I’d set in my head. Even when journaling, I always started with the exact same sentence (I still do 🙄). If I prayed, I had to repeat the prayer a set number of times. It all stemmed from this deep-seated fear that if I didn't do these things, something terrible would happen in my life. analogpuma8, you just have to stop. Here is the trick: regarding my obsession with keeping junk, I once took an item and tossed it in the trash—feeling absolutely miserable about separating myself from it, of course—but I quickly forced my mind onto something else and performed a different task to distract myself. There is no other cure. You simply have to break the cycle and accept whatever comes your way...

Don't take this the wrong way, but I don't think your symptoms are quite as severe. I can't just force myself to stop... Once, I spent forty minutes trying to fasten a bra clasp! I had a complete breakdown because I couldn't make it stop, no matter how hard I tried. And don't even get me started on doors. Sometimes I find myself standing there, opening and closing a door for five minutes straight. No matter how much I want to quit, I simply can't.
