Sanctions on Russia in War in Ukraine ·

The S&P 500 took a dive today, slipping past the 2,000 mark and even dipping below 1,900 at one point.

Car production in Russia plummeted by 97% this May compared to last year.
I’m no economist, but to me, that looks like a total meltdown. 🤔

Is the Stock Exchange closed again?
From what I can see, the last update was from Friday 🤔
Sanctions on Russia in War in Ukraine ·
How much of their reserves have they burned through so far just to prop up the ruble?
And where can I actually track those numbers? 😁

Is the exchange in Washington, D.C. still closed?

Does anyone know how many times Russia has had to step in to prop up the Ruble, and just how much of their reserves they've burned through to make it happen?
It looks like the slide finally leveled off after this morning, hovering somewhere around 100 to the dollar.

Hey 😢
Are you looking for something to numb the heartache, or are you just craving a shot?
If it’s the first one, I might be able to lend a hand 😘
but if it's the second, you should probably head straight to rehab—they’ll have plenty of methadone there, which might take the edge off 🙂
Plasma Donation in Health ·
Jason Miller42 said:... HPV?

You need to be at least 121 lbs.

As far as I know, you can't detect HPV through a standard blood test....
When you go for voluntary blood donation, they screen for HIV, Hepatitis B and C, and Syphilis. I’d assume the screening process for plasma donation follows those same protocols. 🤷

How does Octenisept actually work? I used it on a cut once and was pleasantly surprised by how much it didn't sting compared to other disinfectants, like rubbing alcohol.
Dealing with hemorrhoids in Health ·
Sam Williams53 said:Feel free to just rinse off with a handheld sprayer... and you can still use toilet paper beforehand—it doesn't cause hemorrhoids, even if some people claim you should skip the paper entirely and just rinse after the fact.

Just make sure you stick to plain white toilet paper. I tried one with a peach scent once, 🤮 and it gave me a pretty painful rash right where it hurts most. 😬
To this day, the smell of peaches makes me shudder. 🤣

Olivia Rivera77 said:Hey, can someone please reach out if you’re dealing with the same thing I am? I honestly feel like I’m losing my grip on reality... For four years now, I’ve been fighting these intrusive thoughts that are seriously wrecking my daily life. They are absolutely horrific, and frankly, I’m too ashamed to even type out what they’re actually about. 😛I’ve been seeing a psychiatrist and taking medication for about ten months now, but I haven't seen much of an improvement. If anything, the meds just take the edge off so I can handle them slightly better, but otherwise, I’m just sitting here crying and wondering why this is happening to me. I’m a mom now, and I just want to live a decent, quality life. I’m 25, naturally pretty insecure, and pretty shy... how do I help myself? Please, if anyone is going through this exact same hell, let me know...

There is absolutely no reason to feel ashamed of intrusive thoughts; anyone living with OCD knows exactly how heavy that burden feels. Whether they are violent, blasphemous, sexual, or otherwise disturbing, please remember: these thoughts aren't a reflection of who you really are. They don't define your character, and having them doesn't mean you'll ever act on them.
Stay strong and don't lose hope. 😘
Skin infection on my hand in Health ·
Jack Kelly said:Honestly, besides what I mentioned in the title, I’m kind of struggling to pinpoint exactly what happened to my hand a few months back. I’ll try to describe the whole thing as best as I can, though. It all started about six months ago when the skin on the back of my hand—right between my ring finger and pinky—started getting really dry. At first, I didn't think much of it, you know? But pretty soon, the spot started itching. In the last couple of weeks, it’s gotten so bad that I’m literally tearing at the skin with my fingernails just to get some relief because the itch is totally unbearable. Every time it flares up, this weird, slimy fluid leaks out from the wound (which is maybe an inch or two wide), then it dries up and flakes off. After that, the skin seems fine for a few days, and then the whole cycle just starts all over again. It's been going on for weeks now. I first tried grabbing some antibiotic ointment at the drugstore on my own, but that didn't do squat. Then, the folks at Walgreens suggested an antifungal, but that didn't really help much either. Finally, I went to see my primary care doctor, and she prescribed Afloderm cream (which I think is a corticosteroid?). That was actually the only thing that worked, and it worked pretty fast, but the second I stop using it, the infection just comes right back within a few days.

I’d be super grateful for any advice if anyone here has dealt with something similar. 🤷

I went through something similar after my skin reacted to an aftershave lotion. It’s like finding a needle in a haystack, but if you start auditing your daily products one by one, you might just pin down the culprit.🙂
Hey everyone, how do you all handle managing cash? I find myself losing track every time I try to count it up—thankfully, since I’m constantly broke, I rarely have to deal with any significant amounts 😬
Olivia Lopez41 said:They gave me a plastic one too. My health insurance covered it—I was actually unemployed at the time, about five months ago—so I don't really get why you guys are having such a hard time getting yours.

In my opinion, if you're unemployed, you're exempt from co-pays. Meanwhile, those of us with jobs have to opt for supplemental insurance to access the same perks (it only costs $27 a month, which is honestly a steal 👍).
I really love our social safety net here 🙏 👍

brightsailor9 said:But tell me... how do you deal with the reality of seeing a therapist? That’s what really gets to me. It might sound trivial to some, but for people like me—anxious, insecure—a past filled with social blunders makes everything harder. Sometimes it feels like I'm "forbidden" from being myself because I'll just spiral into a depression if you catch my drift... and now I just have one more thing to hide from everyone. That’s the real barrier to therapy for me. You can't say certain things in public because not everyone has good intentions. In my case, I feel like I'd be branded as unstable or unreliable before I knew it... as if that isn't already the status quo. I know I probably sound foolish, but I genuinely want to hear about your experiences. Do you talk about seeing a therapist? To what extent? And how did people react... please... (and I doubt I'm the only one feeling this way 🙂 ..)

It feels like I'm reading my own biography 😢
The hardest part is getting home and having my mind replay every single moment where I felt I "embarrassed" myself during the day. 🙈

Why does my belly button hurt? in Health ·
Honestly, I wash my belly button with soap and water every single time I shower, and I never deal with any irritation... 😕
I’ve certainly never felt the need to dig around in there until it bleeds just to get it clean 🤷

Honestly, why on earth are you all digging around in your belly buttons? 😕

Nicholas Collins5 said:Look, I'll be honest with you... sometimes there are these quiet voices, flashes of imagery about me hurting my pet, accompanied by this deafening noise inside my head that just keeps getting louder and louder. But, in principle, I feel like I'm on top of the world.😉

A textbook example of an SOP. 😁

As long as you realize those "voices"—which are really just intrusive thoughts—are coming from inside your own head rather than an outside source, there’s no reason to be afraid. That’s actually the fundamental distinction: someone struggling with schizophrenia believes the voices are external, whereas someone with OCD knows exactly where they're coming from.
