Dana Sullivan said:That doesn't make sense. Lime, pudding, or sugar? It’s almost certainly just lactose. 😉

I read it in an American newspaper, so if the reporter was just spinning baseless rumors, I apologize for passing on the wrong info. 👋

Since lime is packed with calcium, the main takeaway is that it helps build strong, healthy bones.😁

Joe@ said:How was I supposed to know—unless a former buddy told me about his dealings with Narcotike—that heroin gets cut with random junk just to stretch the supply? It’s basically a way to hike up the profit margins by adding fillers during the resale process...

It’s common knowledge that people lace heroin with all sorts of garbage, ranging from powdered sugar and pudding mix to actual quicklime😱. Even someone like me, who has barely even smoked anything let alone tried the hard stuff, is aware of that fact😉 😁

I mean, honestly, who is even using the FAT file system these days?

Friday posts only in Health ·

I’ve never been able to find that sweet spot; I always seem to swing wildly from one extreme to the other. 😬

That day, I stuck to nothing but water and sugar-free gum, and honestly, I felt like I was about to pass out after a few tries. It was just too much—I couldn't handle going all day without eating anything. And despite all that, I didn't lose a single pound....

The lack of results probably comes down to the fact that the diet only occurs once a week (during every full moon cycle, which hits roughly every seven days) 🙂

I wouldn't send you to Google, but I might suggest checking out the health subforum instead. 🙂
Putting ash on a wound? in Health ·
Melissa Kim45 said:... I once heard that back in rural areas, people used to let their dogs lick their wounds to speed up the healing process.
😲

It’s actually common knowledge that canine saliva contains enzymes that can help accelerate wound healing. 🙂

Unfortunately, it doesn't stop at carrots and parsley; it invades just about any crop you try to grow.

It looks like an official notice about this issue finally went out today.
So, you might want to ignore my advice if you want to avoid any headaches.🙂

In my view, their constant meddling in the private lives of everyday Americans stems from nothing more than pure resentment. It’s driven by a mindset like: If I can’t have it, nobody can. 😁

That’s exactly it, though I don't let them worry me anymore. I just use those small actions occasionally as a sort of pressure valve; it helps me push through the bigger hurdles. It means I can head out the door now without feeling the need to check the stove, the locks, or the faucets ten times over.
It feels like my previous post came across a bit heavier than I intended (writing things down at 2:00 AM tends to do that 😉), so things aren't actually that dire right now. While this disorder used to be quite a struggle, once I understood what was happening, I learned how to gradually dial it back.
As for hand washing, since I live out in the countryside—anyone who has ever had to feed livestock and seen how messy things get knows why you'd be extra careful 😉—I allow myself to wash up a bit more frequently just for basic hygiene reasons.🙂

I wasn't joking about the key placement issue.
I’ve been dealing with this Illness for years. In the beginning, the intrusive thoughts really terrified me because I didn't understand what was happening. But once I stumbled upon Bill's topic for Forum, it felt like a massive weight had been lifted off my shoulders. Realizing I wasn't a maniac or losing my mind changed everything. That clarity helped me react much more calmly when those thoughts pop up, which lowered my anxiety and significantly cut down how often they occur.
Lately, I've become quite good at managing things to the point where almost nobody even knows. My family only notices that I'm a bit more cautious about germs.
I'd love for anyone struggling with excessive handwashing to chime in so we can shift the conversation in that direction.

Since I live out in the country surrounded by animals, bacteria and dirt have always been a major hurdle for me.
Now, even if it feels a bit uneasy, I can force myself to pick up a cat (though I make sure she doesn't touch my clothes, otherwise she'll be "dirty" too...), pet a dog, or handle similar "messy" tasks—even though I still prefer using gloves for those things. After any "dirty" task, I always wash my hands thoroughly (regardless of whether I wore gloves or not) antibacterial soap and that's enough for me now. Before, I used to feel the need to follow up with alcohol sanitizer just to feel truly clean.
I still have to wash up after touching objects I perceive as dirty, like a broom handle (since dust kicks up onto it while sweeping), but since those items are relatively "cleaner," just using water is sufficient.

Every now and then, I allow myself small rituals like straightening chairs, kitchen canisters, or checking the position of a key in a lock. As for locking doors or turning off the gas, those used to torture me. Now, I've learned to simply remember exactly how I performed the action the first time. I don't allow myself to go back and double-check, no matter how much my brain insists I might have left the gas on. By sticking to that rule, I can manage the endless urge to check, and slowly, the compulsion is fading.

It seems I'm not the only one struggling with how the key sits in the lock.

restlesspanther1 said:It's like checking that you turned off the stove seven times before bed, even though you know perfectly well it's off. 🙂

Not quite—the doors are being inspected. 5 Think of it like aligning a key with the handle—you want the key and the latch to sit perfectly parallel. 😉

Take a look at the ninth post on page one; that user gives a pretty solid explanation of this Illness. 🙂
If you want to see how this actually plays out in real life, check out an episode of Monk—it’s a show about a detective living with this Illness, and it airs Saturday nights on USA Network. 🙂 )

Dealing with Herpes? in Health ·
I’ve been dealing with lip herpes for as long as I can remember, and for the last eight years, it’s also started popping up on my left eyelid 😠. When it first hit my eye, I used to apply Virolex ointment, but I noticed it just kept coming back every single month. Now, instead of using the ointment, I just take some B-Complex and let nature take its course; that way, it only flares up about once a year.
I take a pretty similar approach when it comes to the herpes on my lips 😉. As soon as I feel that initial tingling sensation, my first line of defense is simply to rub the area—kind of like how you might bite your lip—and then follow it up by taking a full box of B-Complex over the next few days. 😎
