The photos tell the whole story, regardless of all the nonsense they were spewing at the press conference...

Things clearly got pretty heated there. Ha.

Absolute nonsense.😂😂
Goluža, give me a break... you really think finishing 5th is some kind of massive win?

FOR THE BOYS AND THE COUNTRY NO NO

So, here it is. The night before the game, we headed out to the Olympics ::::

Ketan is claiming he built most of the defensive strategy around Vukić. Honestly, give me a break. If my read is right, the kid has been dealing with an injury since early December, if not mid-November at the earliest. It's not like he just rolled an ankle on January 3rd and suddenly everything they built around him fell apart.

The guy is delusional. Why is he complaining now after actually hitting the goal? They made it to the Olympics.
Someone needs to take him out to a public square and give him a much-needed reality check.

The whole country has gone mad.😁

quietmaker44 said:Well, there’s been plenty of noise surrounding this, and everyone seems to have an opinion. My take is that none of the key players are entirely right or entirely wrong here. A lot of this comes down to individual perception and gut feeling.

- Gobac might have had valid points regarding Balić, but he should have handled it privately. By going public, he just made a bad situation worse, and his current way of handling the Federation is frankly problematic. I don't get the obsession with disrespecting the veteran players. What's the endgame there?

- Balić is a legend, no question, but he would be even greater if he hadn't tossed five balls out of bounds against Sweden. He really needs to check that superstar ego at the door, take ownership of his mistakes, and stop blaming the refs or acting out on the bench. That's how you actually cement a legacy.

- As for Goluža... did he step up or not? Looking at the scoreboard, it doesn't seem like he did. Maybe he's struggling to command authority with guys who were his teammates just yesterday? If those relationships are fractured now, he's in a tough spot.

- Goalkeepers—look, we simply don't have them, period. If we had elite keepers, we would have dismantled Sweden, and the whole landscape would look different right now. How do you develop top-tier talent at that position? I haven't a clue. Let's just hope someone in the Federation actually knows.

There's no need to treat this result like a national tragedy, but if we don't learn from this tournament and fix the underlying issues, a freefall is inevitable.

Why did Balić's shots go out of bounds?
Let's try explaining that to some casual fan who doesn't follow handball, shall we?

Gobac recently weighed in on the whole Balić situation, and honestly, his take is exactly what you’d expect from someone who’s seen this movie a dozen times before. He isn't pulling any punches regarding how we view the legends of the past versus the reality of the current landscape. The core of his argument is pretty straightforward: there’s a tendency to wrap these players in a layer of myth that doesn't actually exist once you strip away the nostalgia. It’s easy to look back at the glory days and act like everything was perfect, but the truth is usually much more complicated and far less polished. He’s essentially calling out the sentimentality that tends to cloud our judgment when we discuss icons like Balić. It’s a cynical perspective, sure, but it’s grounded in a certain level of realism that most fans tend to ignore. We want the fairy tale, but Gobac is here to remind us that even the greatest athletes deal with the same messy, unglamorous realities as everyone else. It’s a measured critique of how we build idols only to eventually struggle when they inevitably face the friction of real life.

And now someone actually has the nerve to claim that Balić is neurotic.
I have to admit, he still possesses some serious nerves of steel, especially whenever that guy is lurking around.

Something definitely went down after that game against the Swedes... it’s obvious. Now we're just waiting on some official statement or a formal update so we can actually get some clarity on what happened.

Michael Martinez86 said:You get absolutely slaughtered the moment you dare suggest Balić is just some pampered prima donna. I made that exact claim once myself, and let me tell you, the backlash was relentless. It’s obvious to anyone paying attention, but I'm not making that mistake again if it means being lectured by the masses.

I'll go first. Balić isn't spoiled. Goluža is the one who can't handle reality—specifically the fact that he is completely out of his depth coaching this national team. This isn't some local club in Missouri, and the national team isn't some playground for his ego.

Balić is temperamental, sarcastic, prickly, and stubborn. Those are exactly the kinds of traits you need to survive in a private mafia-style organization like the US Handball Federation.

Andrew Gonzalez71 said:Everyone needs to understand that Gomez is the one appointing the coaches, and he’s going to keep doing it. He’ll pick the ones he can manipulate—the people who haven't crossed him. Those types will always be around, and frankly, there aren't many people left who actually have the spine to challenge him.

Is this how it's going to be forever, or...?

At least the man is overweight; there's a higher chance something might finally catch up with him....

I disagree. We need to find a way to move on from Gobac and Goluža... somehow... and finally invest in getting our staff out of here.😂😂
