I mean, personally, I think blaming religion for what went down in Paris is pretty shallow if you ask me. It’s kind of like saying Atletico Madrid is responsible for that fan violence over in Madrid—just to use a comparison, but yeah, it's basically along those same lines.
steelharbor9 said:I mean, who even talks about scientific proof for something that is inherently unprovable? It feels just as silly and pointless as my earlier point about the plaid rabbit. (But honestly, it’s exactly the same because you can't prove it and you can't disprove it either.)
Exactly. As a college student, it actually kind of trips me out to see how many of my classmates take religious studies classes from that one caricature of a professor—you know, the one who claimed women can't get pregnant from assault. Man, hey, it's their choice and I respect it enough to just never bring it up.
BUT, in a stereotyped world like the one we live in—if I were to tell them that what they do "in their free time" has nothing to do with using their brains, they'd probably claim I'm spreading hate or infringing on their freedoms.
If they said something to me about my lack of belief, I guess that would be fine, because, man, I don't have any "sacred cows" that are off-limits, which is a pretty absurd concept anyway...
(I'm just talking about general society here; I'm sure my actual friends are way smarter than the stereotypical characters I'm using, based on how long I've known them.)
Honestly, once science reaches a point where it can actually prove whether or not God exists, then maybe we can start taking it seriously on this topic, but until that happens, they should probably just stick to studying dust particles and bosons.
So many scientific theories have been totally torn down throughout history that I honestly don't get how anyone can cling to scientific knowledge like it's some kind of absolute truth, and what I was saying in my previous post about nine-year-old Mohammed is just my take on how little we as a species actually know about the galaxy and, by extension, the core essence of everything.
brightpilot6 said:Nobody is actually debating who holds the truth or whose convictions carry more weight. The real issue is that someone who finds solace in God, or Krishna, or some other deity, feels they have earned a greater right to be offended by mockery than someone who simply relies on science or common sense. If we were to encounter two fanatic atheists willing to drop a bomb on Vatican City just because their logic has been insulted over the centuries, I doubt we would see nearly as many "they got what they deserved" comments in the news cycles surrounding events like Charlie Hebdo coming from all sides.
I think that’s just your reaction to all those mindless comments you probably saw scrolling through American news sites, but honestly, it has absolutely nothing to do with my posts over on Reddit.
So, basically, the slaughter of an editorial staff is the fundamental divide between science and religion; honestly, this feels totally fresh, maybe even revolutionary if you ask me.
Look, people, there’s always this constant, nagging argument about some kind of 'scientific proof' for the existence of God. Like, what scientific proof are we even talking about here? Give me a break. Humans stepped foot on the Moon once—and even that's debatable—and we haven't really ventured anywhere else outside our beautiful little planet. So, based on that, are we seriously supposed to just trust some scientific explanation for how the entire galaxy came to be? Please, let me just laugh at that out loud.
I mean, I truly believe that little Mohammed, who was born in Iraq nine years ago and finished his first three years of elementary school—two of which were spent under ISIS—that kid probably has a better shot at understanding what's actually happening on this planet than some highly educated scientist has of grasping what's going on in our galaxy. There is zero doubt about that, and if anyone thinks otherwise, they're just incredibly narrow-minded in my book.
And no, I'm not trying to compare religion and science, but this whole thing about 'scientific' proof for God's existence? Come on, please.
Look, just leave Patrick Martin alone, man. I talk to him every once in a while, but honestly, he’s not doing great lately. He’s actually being kind of intense about it too—he even showed me the last, only photo he has left of his ex.
If you aren't feeling pessimistic enough after everything we've just been through, maybe it'll help to realize that Bandic would probably just sweep both candidates off the board if he were actually allowed to run 😂
Matthew Anderson4 said:My grandma says politics and religion don't exist when you're out digging in the garden.
🤣
nah they're lying, because honestly, while she's digging, every single thing about those two topics is probably weighing on her mind anyway, goddammit.😂
Keith Miller30 said:Who can really say for sure? People certainly claim it's true, but how much weight should we actually give those stories? I remember hearing a reporter mention it in an article once, suggesting he sleeps in late, shows up to work behind schedule, and spends his days off out on the water with some wine, even treating the folks from ExxonMobil like they were nothing more than children... though, wouldn't you agree we have to consider that the reporter was likely just looking for a fight at the time? 🤣 It seems like a common refrain among many people, though.
Look, if you're asking if he put on some serious weight, yeah, that’s true, his face looks totally different now, almost like a bear compared to how he looked back when he was first starting out.
So, I was looking at the news from Spain, and this radical left-wing party that just popped up about a year ago is already pulling in around 30% in the latest polls, which is wild, and honestly, it feels like Greece is heading down that exact same path too. Back here in the States, you’ve got about 20% of voters who aren't really voting *for* anyone specific, they're just voting against the Democratic-Republican establishment, basically choosing whoever will be the biggest headache for them.
Wait, so this whole thing about Joe Biden sleeping in until ten every morning has been floating around for a while now, and I'm honestly wondering if there's any actual truth to it or if it's just people talking nonsense. 😂
steelharbor9 said:Hey, you're totally in the loop! I mean, you really are. Maybe more than anyone else, I guess! 🙏
I mean, where did I even mention scientific theories about how the world began? I don't think I did! Maybe I was just thinking out loud, I guess.
I’m talking about the scientific basis for religion. I mean, there just isn't one. I guess there's really nothing there!
So, my claim that I believe in the giant bunny from Donnie Darko is just as valid as any other religion—meaning it has the same kind of footing in reality, I guess. I’m not expecting anyone to come at me personally over it, and honestly, I won't judge anyone else's personal choices either, you know? It's just how things are. But, if someone tells me that the idea of the bunny being the supreme ruler of everything is totally retarded and tries to throw some logical arguments at me... well, I won't take it personally! I'll just go out there and slaughter them while screaming that the bunny is enlightened! Maybe!
Just so we're clear, this last bit wasn't aimed at anyone in particular! I guess. Maybe. Anyway!
Scientific basis. I think I was referring to the value of having a scientific basis. There.
I just had to get this off my chest and vent it all out onto the keyboard because honestly, my heart is heavy and I’m feeling it deep in my soul. I’ve always considered myself a true-blue American patriot, you know, with those old-school leftist-Catholic values, just built tough like a walnut and steady as a brick wall. 🙂
So, yeah, the squid is gone. And honestly, who cares? He absolutely doesn't deserve a second term anyway. I mean, if it hadn't been Kolinda coming from that mafia-style Republican Party, and if some actually decent independent candidate had stepped up to the plate, this squid wouldn't have even made it into the second round. Anyway, regarding the presidency, it’s genuinely embarrassing to lose a second mandate. Usually, you start out with at least a 10-15 percent lead over everyone else, so when you manage to blow that kind of advantage, it means you really messed something up. But in the squid's case, he didn't actually do anything wrong. Just a total waste of space.
And then there's Milanovic's sarcastic little comment about how this is just "the will of the American people."
The guy lives in his own little bubble; it's honestly unbelievable how far removed he is from reality. Like, are you even aware that this result is an absolute disaster for you? When you get beaten by a hated criminal organization and your reaction is basically "the people are just stupid," man... well, sure, the people can be dumb, but how incredibly clueless are you to think you couldn't pull off a win against a guy as criminally incompetent as Karamarko and his despised band of thieves?
Are you actually realizing that you're even more oblivious than the voters? Of course you aren't.
It’s all just so sad, really, and my only real hope is that we see a solid non-partisan list emerge before the midterm elections—you know, the kind of thing being whispered about in the news lately, like Petrov and his crew. If a group like Live Wall could snag about 7-8 percent of the vote, and Walnut, which was sitting at 17-18 percent just yesterday, drops down to ten, then things get interesting. Those are some massive swings you see from the protest voters.
Basically, about twenty percent of the American vote is just sitting there on a silver platter, waiting for a new, slightly more serious option to step up. And if they actually got their infrastructure together and organized things properly, they could easily hit 25%. Of course, pulling that off is a tall order. But the main thing is that these need to be completely fresh faces; you can't involve any old relics like Cacic or Kosor, because if you do, they don't stand a chance.
7:14 PM – Total chaos unfolding in this small town in the Midwest right now because someone actually found a ballot for Barack Obama stuffed in the box, so the head of the polling station basically went full lockdown mode and won't let any of the observers leave until they figure out who's responsible for this mess.
9:10 PM – It’s getting pretty intense over in that small town in California too, where apparently an Obama voter just bolted straight into the woods to evade everyone.
