I was honestly going to type something out, but I’m kind of holding back because it feels like every single person on this board is some world-class film critic, and I’m terrified I’ll get absolutely torn apart if I dare to say that Brad Pitt is actually a great actor. Or heaven forbid, Leonardo... man, if I even hint that he's one of the best actors Hollywood has ever produced, I'm pretty sure I'll be getting roasted alive by everyone here.

So here's the movie poster: directed by Spike Jonze Written by Charlie Kaufman and Donald Kaufman and honestly, don't let that throw you off too much! But man, they totally botched the ending, it ends up feeling like some cheap, low-budget action flick or something.
Watching this movie without having any prior heads-up about what it was actually about, I was totally convinced I was watching some kind of true story, at least until the moment Donald Kaufman dies, or maybe even just a little bit before that point. Since I don't really know anything about Charlie Kaufman, I was wondering if anyone here actually knows how much of this film is based on a true story?
