If you were to set fire to Josephine, Joseph, and Jesus right in front of the local NFL stadium, people would call it some avant-garde performance art in the spirit of Mardi Gras. But when you do that to two men and a child, it’s just straight-up prison time.
Oh sure, because the kids saw it 🤣 that’s the ultimate trump card...

The government couldn't care less.
They look the other way when Rom children are kept out of school, they turn a blind eye to domestic violence, and they let people drive around without licenses...

Then, the moment things actually go south, the reaction is always the same: "Oh, it's just those minor groups again."

Zero tolerance?
Hardly. They show the exact same level of indifference they show everyone else. To suggest anything more or less than that isn't equality—it's discrimination.

Are they letting you drive around without a license? Beat your wife? Let your kid stay home from school?
You already answered your own question; the state basically gives them a free pass to do whatever they want while being more tolerant toward them than anyone else. In other words, the majority is being discriminated against to favor the minority. That's why people call for police and strict penalties—because when things go sideways in Ohio, it's only natural to wonder where the hell the government is.

"The reality is that Ohio has the largest Rom population in the US, totaling about 10,000 people. It’s also true that they make up a third of the unemployed in that state and account for 80 percent of those on welfare. Then there's the fact that a huge number of Rom children aren't attending school, much like the fact that 70 percent of those caught committing crimes are Rom."

What are you even talking about, Paul Martinez73? You clearly have a Nazi mindset if that's why you chose an SS nickname...

Matthew Young35 said:What exactly would they do?
It seems to me there would be a reaction regardless, especially if things played out the way is being implied between the lines.

On the other hand, what's your take on the threats involving knives along the Potomac? Is that just more minority issues?

Just look at the crime rates in Ohio among the Rom community versus the general population. You're trying to compare minority crime stats to whatever happens with the majority population.

That’s like me telling you that since 200 women were assaulted in Pittsburgh, then the same number must have been assaulted across the entire US.

Every single week there's another headline about how people are struggling to survive there, or stories about elderly folks being targeted daily when they make up such a huge part of the population. The Rom minority presents challenges everywhere in the world, yet here, there isn't even a shred of willpower to ensure they actually follow the law.

So, user Charles Roberts33 mentioned how those e-bike riders are getting on his nerves, so I guess we'll have a little debate about that...
Besides, I’m constantly being lectured by these EV owners who buy a car and suddenly decide they’re the moral authorities on why every other vehicle is basically a rolling pollutant. They act like they have a divine right to plug their cables in everywhere for free, just because companies like Tesla offer them complimentary charging...

Then you’ve got someone like Lola pulling into the garage, plugging into the shared outlet to charge up on everyone else's dime, and then having the audacity to protest when the cable gets unplugged. They claim, "Oh, I get free charging everywhere, I'm just being eco-friendly," while meanwhile, all our garage outlets are blocked up, so now I can't even vacuum my own car...

What a joke this forum is 🙏
The second you take a different side, everyone starts coming for you. But sure, he’s just "progressive," "liberal," and "pro-socialist." At this rate, maybe he and Tomasevic are both sitting in the same kitchen eating Vegan Cevap together...

brightpilot6 said:I’m honestly starting to wonder if some people actually take "dog in a restaurant" literally—do they imagine a canine perched on a chair using silverware, or am I just overthinking it? 🤔

Then again, I highly doubt half of them have ever ventured further than a local roadside BBQ shack, where chairs aren't even an afterthought, let alone a luxury. ☕

In any case, I’m just relieved we’ve finally addressed this burning crisis of decadent Western civilization, a topic that clearly weighs so heavily on the average American.

My apologies to anyone among them who doesn't fit that particular description. ☕

If you had ever stepped foot outside your neighborhood dive bar, you'd realize this issue is way more widespread in the States than just locally. Sure, you might not be allowed into most high-end American eateries with your pet, but hey, if the guy running the local burger shack lets you walk in with him, then good for you.

You aren't allowed to light up a cigar in a restaurant because apparently, you're ruining everyone else's health, yet somehow bringing a dog inside is perfectly fine.
My ex used to be allergic to dog hair, and this guy walks right into a restaurant with his dog, so I told the waiter about the allergy and asked if we could just finish our meal before they vacuumed the dog hair up after we left.

The guy with the dog immediately shut me down, saying we had no right to complain. Naturally, I never stepped foot in that place again, and I made sure to tell everyone about the whole unpleasant ordeal. So, just like how Preata avoids restaurants where dogs are banned, I avoid places where they're allowed. In reality, most people don't want dogs in restaurants, and it's definitely not true that most places permit them—only a tiny fraction do. In Germany, for instance, out of several Michelin-starred spots, I know at least three that won't allow them. So, Preata, your arguments don't really hold water...

Man, when some guy walks into a restaurant with an Argentine Dog, it’s just... wow.

Elizabeth Mendoza said:Maybe there’s some new directive from the European Union saying all cats have to be taken to the vet.

At this point, everyone just uses the European Union to justify everything anyway, whether it’s true or not.😬

They secured funding from the European Union for the leash program.

So, there’s this heated debate going on over at the local news site about whether people should be taking their cats out on leashes...
They’re claiming it’s totally normal everywhere else and somehow just an anomaly here. Well, I’ve traveled enough of the world to know I haven't seen that anywhere...

I mean, I’ve heard people say that dogs and cats eat each other in parts of Asia, so I’m just waiting for those same folks—the ones who insist everything is fine because "it happens elsewhere"—to start calling cat meat on a menu perfectly acceptable too.

Why is a dog or a cat considered different from a penguin, a snake, or a fish?
I honestly want penguins to be taken out on walks, dressed up in little winter coats, and given actual rights. We should ban keeping them in cages, and for goodness' sake, let's stop keeping fish in aquariums smaller than 500 liters...

Oh, and I also want the lions and all those other animals at the local zoo to be dressed in winter gear too.

And I want some show on a major network where someone rescues penguins that nobody else cared about, or maybe even a place where someone opens a sanctuary for turtles.

Amanda Evans2 said:Why on earth do you care if someone puts a little coat on a dog? How exactly does that interfere with your pathetic little existence?

It’s as if everyone just needs to be exactly the same, for God's sake...

And why should you give a damn that it bothers him? In what way does his opinion impact your life at all?

Might as well start dressing all our dogs in little dresses while we're at it...

You can't say anything anymore without some idiot jumping in to take a cheap shot. It bothers Lord Byron, and honestly, good for him—let it bother him.

Happy New Year, you soccer fanatics.
ZZ, I wouldn't want to get this whole debate moving again. But didn't Joe Biden himself say that Zdravko Mamić is a highly successful manager and offered him a handshake?
And Ed Koch is just a product of the Democratic Party—honestly, he almost took over the party entirely, and if you look at how Bernard keeps things running in Washington, D.C., he basically still leads them today. So, when it comes down to it, both sides are pretty much the same...

Enjoy the downtime while it lasts, because it's a long season.

As long as you people keep circling one of those two options just to give them legitimacy, hiding behind the "lesser of two evils" excuse... you won't realize what happens when someone wins with 40% of the vote. People will start spoiling their ballots once they see they don't actually have to pick a side—once they realize things can truly change or that parties are forced to put up candidates with actual substance.

I’m showing up to vote, I’m just leaving my ballot blank. I’m not giving any candidate legitimacy, and nobody gets to tell me "Well, you voted for him, so deal with it."

What exactly am I gaining by circling one of those two? The satisfaction of knowing I helped hand them the win with my own hands?

Look at the Bridge party... they refused to play nice with anyone, told everyone to shove it, and pushed for new elections. I’m convinced they could have done it, but also convinced those other elections would have been a total wash. You just have to show people there's a different way, and then maybe some decent candidates will actually bother showing up to the race.

We really lucked out that the last guy was in charge, because he showed us exactly how incompetent things could get—thankfully, this current one hasn't quite managed to mess it up yet. I’d say comparing them is like looking at a standard 20-year-old Ciggy in his sophomore year versus some kid in the same class who’s clearly struggling a bit more... In the runoff, I'm betting Blondie pulls it off with maybe a 5-10% lead on those ridiculous positions. Personally, I'm about ready to throw my betting slip in the trash.

Matthew Young35 said:No problem at all. I got the impression you were implying that you capitalize Church out of respect. I just wanted to point out that "the Church" and "a church" aren't quite the same thing. As far as I'm concerned, you can write CHURCH, ChUrCh, or cHrCh for all I care.
I'm no grammar Nazi; I make plenty of mistakes myself when posting on forums. Every now and then, I'll correct someone who is persistently wrong without being malicious, and I appreciate it when people correct me too. It happens.

As for Tekica, I wasn't calling you out. I was simply explaining what a Tekica is. If you have an issue with that, take it up with someone else.

I capitalize all those places, even though I know it isn't strictly correct. In a formal conversation, I’d definitely pay attention to that. But in a Chat, or on a Forum, etc., I’ll write Church (the building), Mosque, Theater, Dad, Son, Family. Mostly because I don't view them as just buildings when we're discussing them. For instance, if we start a debate about how the local theater is garbage, I won't type out the full name every time; I'll just use a capital letter for Theater to show respect to the establishment itself, rather than treating it purely as a pile of bricks. I'd use lowercase if we were just commenting on the architecture itself. If we're talking about the Theater as a whole entity—including the people working there and the profession they represent—then I'll use a capital to honor the people, the craft, and everything else involved while I'm commenting.

It's the same when I say I'm going to Church. I'm not going to a building just to sightsee. I'm going to Church (the building), but I'm going for Mass, honoring the people, the profession, and the faith. If I were commenting specifically on the layout or some construction work, I'd use lowercase. I've never been referring to just the walls here, and it's the same deal with the Mosque.

So, hopefully, that makes it a bit clearer why and how I do it. Grammatically, it might not be perfectly accurate, but hey, it's a forum. If those folks in the European Union Parliament can be illiterate and not know the basics of a foreign language, I can afford to slip up a little too. Though, when I actually put in the effort, I can be quite literary... but that's just my way of messing around.

Anyway, wishing everyone the best in the New Year.

Elizabeth Mendoza said:Just another patriot living beyond the borders, an "American and a moral giant." Touche

Let me answer you one last time before I just hit the ignore button. No, I’m not some overseas patriot. Nor am I an "American," though I can tell that really rubs you the wrong way given how you act. I shouldn't even type it again since I already took enough heat for what I called you earlier ☕

The German language is my primary tongue because I've been working for a German firm for 15 years now—and yes, even here in Washington, D.C., I work for Germans, using German for writing and reading eight hours a day (Matthew Young35, did I get all that right? Just kidding). I also spent several months living abroad...

Now, why don't you go shove yourself into whatever corner you usually try to stuff everyone else into, and then go play pretend with whoever you want. And as for the... thanks.
