Haha, our fridge is basically a pharmacy, packed with everything from aspirin to heavy-duty stuff; yet, nobody in this house will actually touch any of it. We’d honestly rather just lie here in agony than deal with the hassle of swallowing a pill. Weird People
Chloe Moore65 said:The thing is, I always pay for my own envelopes or boxes. I try to recycle whenever possible—sometimes I’ll buy something new, but if I can make do with an old box, I definitely will.

I'm not quite following—do people actually return the packaging you sent them, or when you say "old," do you mean something like an old shoebox or similar?

Also, just for context, I ended up sending a full package today because nothing would fit in even the largest bubble mailer. If I hadn't factored in the cost of the shipping container itself, the actual postage would have been $5.75. They charged me an extra $2 for their packaging services (which went toward my total, since, fair enough, I could have probably just wrapped it myself at home)
.
And sales tax hasn't gone anywhere either; I paid it on everything I did at the Post Office today.

But I'm still a little confused about the math. A package under 250g is $3.75, while 251-500g is $4.75. But how am I supposed to avoid paying an extra $4.20 or $1.75 for a bubble mailer? It's not like I have those lying around the house. Are you all just using the most basic plain packaging?

I'm sending some items via courier pickup in San Francisco, and the shipping cost is... $13I'm shipping that same batch of goods down to Charleston, and the postage comes out to... $5.25Honestly, Charleston is a lot closer to me than San Francisco.🙄

Charleston is absolutely top-tier, and honestly, his posts are just as polished. It’s like they have this sense of integrity where they actually admit to it—so they end up charging a bit less. 😛
I have a quick question... I headed out to ship some packages for the first time today, sent off a few different ones, and noticed something odd. For the absolute smallest one—a tiny little envelope where you couldn't even fit much besides maybe a doggie outfit—the cost was $2.20 plus $11.50 for shipping, totaling $13.70. That seems to align perfectly with what everyone else says about shipping being $5.00, but again, we’re talking about a minuscule envelope that wouldn't hold much of anything. Maybe it deserves its own little thread.
Moving on, the next size up is for $1.75 (which is an 8.4), and the shipping comes out to $4.75—bringing the total to 19, or $7.25. My issue isn't really about whether the price is $1.75, it's more that I can't figure out what I did wrong. If everyone else is seeing $15 and I'm sitting here at $20, where is the disconnect? 🤷

p.s. not true. they get shot in the leg all the time.

I actually struggled with that logic myself for a while, so I eventually rationalized it by deciding that if you aren't the lead actor, there's no guarantee you'll make it to the credits. Essentially, the director (or whoever is calling the shots) already knows exactly who survives and who is going to be the face of the story, so the entire film naturally revolves around them. Honestly, that felt like a much more solid explanation in my head 🤣 😁 which would imply that the movie isn't necessarily happening in real-time while we watch, but rather acts as a reconstruction of events.

@ gentlecrane3.. I picked up some similar ones at Ralph Lauren back in September. Honestly, I'm not entirely sure if they'll actually do much for you, but worth a shot.

I went through the same thing back in high school, and honestly, everything they told me turned out to be spot on. I know a few other people who've been through it too, and they were all pretty happy with the experience. In my opinion, it’s definitely a worthwhile thing to do.

Fair enough, you know best. I can only imagine how exhausting and draining this whole situation must be for you. Maybe there’s something going on outside the house that we don't see? Or maybe it’s just typical teenage rebellion, though I have to admit, I’ve never heard of anyone blowing up quite like this during puberty. In my view, you really only have two ways to play this. You either tighten the reins so hard they practically can't breathe without your permission—even if it causes some friction—or you let go and just pray to God they eventually find their way back to themselves. My only real fear is that if you choose to let go, the consequences of everything they're doing right now might end up being permanent.

@xanas - I think you might have misread my intention there. I wasn't questioning whether she has an underlying mental health issue; rather, I was wondering if there’s a specific catalyst driving this behavior. Whether it's a history of trauma or just intense resentment stemming from your recent argument, I find it hard to believe this kind of conduct happens in a vacuum just because someone hit puberty. You mentioned she’s using drugs, drinking, running away, and being sexually reckless. In my opinion, that’s a bit much to write off as just "teenage rebellion."

@ xanas, are you absolutely certain there aren't some deeper, more significant factors at play here beyond just standard puberty?
