The Cranberries just gave a phenomenal performance—honestly, I was hooked from the very first second I pressed play. I’ve never been particularly obsessed with Dolores (or the band in general, really), but she won me over instantly, both with her vocals and just her whole presence. She had that certain something... you know? My only real gripe is seeing her with an electric guitar in hand, though I guess that's a bit of a weird thing to say—most women tend to lean toward softer instruments. I can respect a woman playing just about anything, even a double bass, but there's just something about seeing them shredding on electric guitar that doesn't quite sit right with me. Still, I can forgive everything once I saw their cover of Fleetwood Mac's Go Your Own Way 😍
I wouldn't say I was ever a massive fan of this group—not really my usual style—but I’ve always looked at them with a ton of respect. To be fair, that mostly came from watching Ian Anderson, though I guess it was probably a mistake to view the whole band through just one person's lens. This London set is such a great example of why they were so tight back then and why people still value them as live performers. If you're looking to get a feel for how Jethro Tull actually sounded on stage, I think this is a pretty solid introduction to their world.

I won't get into specific examples since I don't read everything—which means I don't moderate every single thread. Each moderator decides their own threshold for what stays and what goes. On the NFL thread, I decided to cut it off.
By any reasonable standard, no. But when we start cleaning up a thread, we tend to be a bit more aggressive than usual. Everyone loses their cool occasionally—the point of those massive penalties is to part ways with the ones who can't control themselves. Besides, a few days away from the site doesn't hurt anyone.
It’s obvious the moderator isn't interested in actually moderating, so they just swing between extremes—locking a thread only to remember to hand out penalties four days later, treating everyone the same regardless of how offensive the comment actually was. You can't moderate by making everything either "fine" or "400 points." There should be nuance. If a moderator lacks the patience for the job, they should just step down.
When I don't feel like moderating, the thread looks exactly like it did a few days ago. The fact that I'm almost always active in this thread proves I'm doing the work. ☕
I'm a little confused about the criteria the mods have laid out—would love it if someone could clarify a few things for me.
Do the same rules apply to every thread in this PDF? If the answer is yes, then why is insulting people and trolling allowed in the "Examples" section, but not in the "MLS" threads?
Why does it seem like people can just get away with calling us American soccer fans all sorts of insults in these forums without any consequences? —just as an example, look at this one from today. I can't really be sure—it’s probably just a case of bad luck, I guess. Maybe things were already heading south before the game even started. It’s hard to say for certain, but it feels like we just couldn't catch a break today.And then you have people getting punished for minor things—like this one, I guess.

If anyone else is looking to get a better feel for White Buffalo, you really can't go wrong with this concert from his set with the band on the Rockpalast TV show in Germany. It’s a total vibe—at least if you're into that classic American sound. Most of the setlist covers his own tracks, but he wraps things up with a cover of that legendary country group Highwayman and their song of the same name. You can tell the guy has great taste ☕

Since I’ve already touched on Pearl Jam before, I figured I’d share this video of their London show from the summer of 2010—I actually just stumbled upon it recently. I guess the hardcore fans can tell me if they were truly incredible, but honestly? To my ears, they played a solid, more than respectable set. It felt like they needed a moment or two to really find their groove, but once they did, they just absolutely tore through the rest of the set.
Of course he wasn't completely unknown here—there were definitely people listening to him back in the '70s—but I'm not really talking about specific individuals. I’m more looking at the big picture regarding his presence in America. In my opinion, hardly anyone ever heard of him, especially considering how much impact he had and just how high the quality of his work was. He isn't the only one, either; there are plenty of names who are huge over there (I'm thinking specifically of the US) but for some reason never quite caught on here, so today it's like they never even existed. Though, I guess you have a point too—time is pretty ruthless, and what was considered a major artistic concept yesterday, nobody even cares about two percent of today.
I honestly don't get how some artists never really made it big over here, even with the kind of talent they have. Take Jackson Browne, for example—he’s considered one of the absolute greats in the States, but around here, hardly anyone knows the details of a career that's spanned five whole decades now. It’s a shame, really, because he’s a phenomenal musician who just knows how to write a killer lyric. He actually helped the Eagles out back in the day when they were first shooting for the stars. The story goes that they used to live right next door to each other in LA, and since Browne was more established, he helped them craft some of those early hits—including "Take it Easy," which was the track that finally pushed the Eagles to the top of the radio charts.
This concert was recorded during Jackson's 2012 tour (I can't quite recall the exact city, sorry) and it serves as a perfect snapshot of his entire career up to that point. If anyone wants to get a better sense of who this guy is, this concert is probably the best way to dive into his world.

Just stumbled upon this incredible Bryan Ferry set from Live AT Glastonbury 2014. and man, it was such a great listen. It’s basically an hour and a half of pure bliss—he hits all those solo career highlights, plus he sprinkles in a few gems from his days with Roxy Music. Just a really solid show.
