Nicole James said:Lisa Ortiz2, are you actually aware that you're backing someone who was slapped with a massive 500-point penalty for serious hate speech and making violent threats against the LGBTQ+ community?! For goodness' sake, please get serious.

Nicole James, if I were to say I'd do whatever it takes to protect my child's life, would you classify that as hate speech?

hollowtrucker77 said:Look, I can jump in and play firefighter whenever things get heated, but I can't be on moderation duty twenty-four seven, especially since I don't know the ins and outs of this specific sub-forum well enough to do the job properly.
This is really where you see the true caliber of our community members shine—the ones who won't let some random tourists come in with their nonsense, derailing the conversation or trying to stir up unnecessary drama and division.
If someone starts acting out and everyone else just goes along with it, then by the time a moderator actually shows up, the only move left is to hand out warnings and bans to everyone involved and just shut the whole thread down.
It’s a lousy way to handle things, obviously, but it ends up being the only solution, and frankly, nobody wins in that scenario.
On the flip side, imagine if someone shows up just to troll, but the rest of the group stays focused, puts them on ignore, and simply reports the post?
The mod handles the nuisance, the actual discussion keeps flowing among people who actually care, and everyone comes out ahead.

Now, I need to get serious for a moment.🙂 I honestly didn't expect you to be moderating over there. Who knows if you're even a Christian.😁
I have to reiterate how absurd some of these topics and posts are—things that really shouldn't be getting any traction at all.
In addition to the people we already have, what we truly need are two staunch Christians—maybe Hi Fi, Orah, or John Doe—a strong Jew, and one more atheist.
You don't necessarily have to step up, but they certainly could.

Wouldn't it be a lot more productive if everyone just pitched in? Or at least those people who actually give a damn about having a cleaner, better neighborhood to live in, right?
🙂
Personally, I’ve always found it much more rewarding to actually hunt for a solution rather than wasting my breath hunting for scapegoats.

Spoken like a true optimist.🙂
Helping to make something better is a noble mission, and I certainly have no intention of tearing things down.😁
But let's get real for a second... can you really call everything a "mother"? 😁 Is there even a single thread on a parenting forum discussing her role?😁
No single institution in America has been scrutinized or criticized quite as heavily as religion. So, tell me—are you still planning on helping?😍

I guess we can finally agree on something for once—just the two of us. 😁

Religion forums are volatile—not quite as much as Politics, but they aren't exactly far off either—and they definitely need active moderation. Reacting to reports is basically just firefighting at that point. I mean, sure, maybe the need for those emergency measures won't totally vanish once people start moderating more proactively, but eventually, the forum might actually become a decent place for a discussion.

How boring, you little swallow. 🙂 As I’ve already pointed out, you won't actually be satisfied if you manage to drive all the believers away from the religion. They are essentially the salt of the earth. 😉
Religion is a volatile forum—not quite as much as Politics, but certainly not far behind—and it requires proactive moderation. Responding to reports is just firefighting; it's reactive. While it's true that the need for such measures might decrease once moderation becomes more active, over time, the forum will eventually become a much more pleasant place for discussion.

Good grief. 🙂 At least you're an advocate for it, 😂 even if you aren't a true believer yourself.
I am in complete agreement regarding more active moderation. Here... let me offer you my support. And of course... I suspect you would be a very strict moderator yourself. 😍

Go jump in a lake, you three. 😂

hollowtrucker77 said:Nicole James really nailed the perspective here
it isn't even about having more moderators running around handing out warnings or bans, though that’s always an option, it’s more about the fact that if you actually want to have a decent conversation in a specific subforum, you should probably put in a little effort to make sure that space is actually worth hanging out in and comfortable for everyone involved

Right... so everyone else is just to blame, huh?😁 Look, my friend, you're acting like a true big-city elitist.🙂 Tell me, aren't 6,500 posts in a single thread enough to give anyone pause?
🙂
But when the foundation starts cracking... and the floodwaters begin to rise, everyone scrambles for high ground.
And I agree. A moderator should focus on guiding the direction of the conversation and maintaining quality. Penalties should always be the absolute last resort—it's a heavy-handed and unpopular way to manage things.

Hey, steelskipper5... when is spring finally going to get here?😁 This snow is making it impossible to breathe.😲
What does "consistency" even mean to you? Applying the exact same yardstick to everything? That just isn't possible.😁
Take my situation, for example... I have to head back into that exhausting internship again.😁 Parenting is a pretty substantial topic. But... am I allowed to write about pregnant cats or mares there? Really? No matter how professionally one writes about it.😂

I have a serious proposal for you all🙂
Those little triangles... people aren't just using them as support anymore; they've practically become the entire foundation. Honestly, I think we should just scrap them entirely.😍>
Furthermore, I’d suggest offering the moderation team a bit more variety.🙂How about bringing in two staunch Christians—perhaps Hi Fi, Walnut, or John Doe😍—alongside that one sharp-witted atheist😍...I'll dig up his username in a moment, but he writes quite effectively on the topic of religion.
Anyone who contributes to a thread while simultaneously undermining its purpose should be removed by the moderators. If everyone is granted unlimited rights without any sense of restraint or mutual respect, we’re simply heading straight toward anarchy and lawlessness.
I'll follow up with that smart atheist's username🙂 later today.
Is that enough for you, Nicole James? And for heaven's sake, please clear out that ridiculous thread over in the religion section.😂>

Though if you ask me, the whole thing should’ve just been deleted entirely.
It’s honestly such a bummer that rowdyhawk10 didn't even bother reading my appeal, because then he comes back later asking me questions I already laid out clearly in the actual appeal.
And hey, Lisa Ortiz2, nobody ever actually said the post was offensive.
Maybe try reading with a bit more nuance next time?🙄
I really think we need a dedicated sub-forum just for Religion; that way, people can talk about faith without everyone jumping in to meddle—kind of like how those of us posting in the Religion section usually stay out of the Spirituality discussions.
Religion and spirituality are two different animals.
Anyway, that's my two cents.
over and out

🙂 I appreciate the effort you put into this, but your point doesn't actually pertain to religion.😁

We have already addressed the matter of spirituality. I suppose one has to wonder if a forum actually needs a subforum that functions like a church. I believe I explained this to cosmicseal5 previously—we simply cannot turn a religion subforum into a sanctuary within a digital space like this. www.catholics.org , I suppose this website might be worth looking into, though I can't say for certain what one might find there. It seems like just another corner of the internet. I suppose there isn't much more to say on the matter. www.orthodoxy.org Our subforum shouldn't be a place where atheists are penalized simply because they refuse to subscribe to a specific dogma. For instance, we shouldn't be banning someone just because they express doubt regarding the Quran, the Bible, or Jesus, or even various other deities. I think the forum should allow for free expression from every individual, provided they don't cross the line into personal attacks. In my opinion, we should probably apply stricter penalties when it comes to bringing discussions down to a personal level—like trolling or insults—specifically when it's the same person repeatedly doing it. That might actually solve a lot of our problems.

Quote: Good or Evil

It isn't anarchy, Lisa Ortiz2.
If you only knew the sheer volume of work we deal with... being a moderator for the religion section means seeing firsthand just how much content we have to scrub, especially all those posts that start poking into other people's business. Personality. If there were less trolling and fewer outright insults, I suppose things might be a bit clearer. Furthermore, with my own... By remaining silent. I suppose you aren't going to actually solve anything by staying silent on the forum. It honestly surprises me that you’re being this stubborn about it. I mean, surely you realize it's better to just post and then deal with any fallout as it happens? Any post that breaks the rules can be reported, and since the moderation team has been beefed up, we should be able to get to every report eventually. However, we don't always see everything people write the very moment they post it. Most forum users... They aren't reporting it. I suppose these posts are somewhat unnecessary—though I should probably give credit where it's due to the few people actually reporting them. It does suggest they care about maintaining the quality of our forum, I guess. Regards.

Exactly. That is precisely why there is so much deleting going on.

rowdyhawk10... relying solely on reports isn't enough to moderate properly.🙂 We really should have stepped in long ago to prevent the kind of issues that are now incredibly difficult to fix.👎
Are there enough moderators? Why not just recruit five, ten more... I don't know... call in Samadhi... he could probably handle it all himself😍, steelskipper5🙂, but you still have to actually read the threads. 🙂
I don't report posts... honestly, rowdyhawk10. But I have spent a significant amount of time on this forum...🙂
I wouldn't anymore... though I will naturally return once I feel the atmosphere on the religion board becomes a little bit more pleasant and welcoming again.
I am feeling quite cold today.😲😁

I can't exactly show up at their houses and take their computers away...

It isn't just Nicole James; those folks are regularly tearing apart the religion sub-forum.😲
It’s worth noting that we aren't talking about a game or some scorekeeping here—for those who hold actual faith, this is life itself.
Not a single sub-forum is as aggressive or stifling as that one. It's become a dumping ground for everyone's personal frustrations.
There are probably entire sections of this site where I would never dream of posting... I simply stay away.🙂
What sort of void are they trying to fill by attacking religion?😁
The religion section is pure anarchy right now.
And that is precisely why I choose to remain silent there.👎

Nicole James said:Instead of just complaining, why not offer some actual suggestions on how we can make this forum better?

Nicole James....😁 you know exactly how this works. I really hope I don't have to walk you through it step-by-step.🙂 Just imagine... if I went over to an ESPN football thread and posted something like this...
It's primitive entertainment.😂 Aimless chasing. You're all wasting your time on a hollow game. A poor investment of precious hours.😲😂
So, people pay admission just to watch a ball get kicked around, only to have everyone just charge blindly at it once they arrive?????????😂 Is there any logic to it?
It’s simply an outdated... intolerant form of entertainment, discriminatory because it doesn't allow everyone the chance to chase the ball.
And it has its own set of rules.🤷 How terrible.😲
Or... perhaps another example?👍 Tell me, which specific subreddit am I allowed to crash like that?😁

I’m just going to hand this whole package over to the administration. Let them argue with you and hash it out; I honestly don't have the energy left for this, despite my best intentions.

I am sticking to my original position: that wasn't a post intended as a threat toward a female forum member, but rather an attempt by a defender fighting for his country—the one where he's raising his six children... though certainly not the version of America that a few of you seem to imagine in your heads. He simply stated that he wouldn't without a fight allow something unnatural to be forced upon him as if it were natural, when it actually equates the animalistic with the human. A man still considers himself a man, not an animal. 🤷

That’s all from me. I'm handing this off now, so you can deal with them... Nothing personal, either. Best. 🙂

You make a fair point, rowdyhawk10... you've got me there this time.🙂 The post isn't an insult. One needs to read the whole thing instead of just picking out selective parts.
But doing that requires time and slowing down a bit.🙂
That doesn't mean I won't complain about the current state of the religion.😁 It is absolutely catastrophic.👎
Ego complaint. in Feedback & Suggestions ·
I’m not going to commit to making any more posts here. This complaints book isn't exactly my usual style of writing.
The Religion subforum has become... well, God help us.😁
It’s quite simple... the direction shifted, and now it’s wandered deep into the weeds.🙄
I have absolutely no desire to leave another single post in that place.
The Walls went down right around the time that subforum started losing its way. Saturdays....😍, their appeals were never granted.😢
Aurora? 🙂
On that particular subforum, it’s actually dangerous to affirm your faith in God... they’ll label you a lunatic. It’s similar to how, if you were on a specific subreddit for gourmet cooking, parenting, or cars... it would be considered totally unacceptable to admit a meal was delicious, that you're a good parent, or that driving a car is a sensible thing to do.😁
That’s why there is simply no point in posting as a believer on the Religion subforum. Honestly, it might be better to just rename it... perhaps call it "Atheistic Frustrations"—specifically designed for those who feel traumatized😁 by the faith of others.
They should really just give everyone some breathing room.

Tyler Scott3 said:I politely asked that the following people stop addressing me. For example, rowdyhawk10, you don't have a clue what I'm actually complaining about here. Honestly, I'm worried you're just talking to hear yourself speak, because your explanations are so transparent and empty they make me feel lightheaded.

The whole point of your response is just to suck up to the admins. You don't give a damn about me or any other user on this site. So, back off.

Dear Anderson, the way you treat us users is a disaster. There’s constant pressure being put on us, and you're constantly trying to guilt-trip us.
I have to ask: what did I ever do wrong by writing posts that reach half a million views? Isn't that enough proof that I'm actually contributing something useful?

And what was my reward for that?

Some lowlife bows before the king, and the king rewards him.
'Our king' rewards us by simply allowing us to exist.😢

You don't owe me an apology; it's your platform. Fine, let me apologize to you instead—I apologize for wasting three years of my life on this site, which has gone from being a promising community to one filled with hypocrisy. I have no desire to write on a place like this. My demand for an apology isn't really about that; it's an appeal for you, as the owner, to take the first step toward fixing the relationship between the users and the administration. The current staff can't do it because they're all too busy chasing their own careers.
Because if you, the owner, don't care about improving these relationships, why should we? We have to be here regardless, and we do it with our heads down because we respect the rules and the authority of this place. But honestly, I just don't have the motivation to contribute anymore. As things stand right now, I feel like a criminal on this site.

That's all from me.

Dervish, I am right there with you. 😍
The whole concept of Religion on this Reddit has completely gone to hell.😁

Michael Perez5 said:I think I'm going to have a meltdown... everything will follow the usual protocol... but there's no way he's going to be the one officiating our wedding, that much is certain. Still, I'm trying to figure out a workaround so we can still hold the ceremony at that church in downtown Savannah.

Does anyone know how the relationships between different parishes and their priests usually work? I guess I'm wondering how I should handle this—does anyone have any insight?

Personally, I've often found Church regulations to be quite a hurdle. When I had my own Wedding, I did things on my own terms, even though I already had several children.
I ended up having a bit of a confrontation with the Priest. He started off in a manner very similar to what you're experiencing right now.😁 It didn't end well initially.😉 I told him straight to his face that I had never met a worse Priest in my life and asked if he actually knew what he was doing or if he was just trying to sell me something.
I was just as livid as you are feeling in this moment. However, later on, he apologized to me. And I apologized to him. We eventually ended up having a perfectly friendly conversation.
Who knows what prompted such a reaction from him?
Perhaps he is simply trying to avoid friction with a colleague? Based on my own experience, I can tell you that everything will eventually settle down. I truly believe he will offer an apology if he isn't being completely unreasonable. You find people like that in every single profession.
Think of this as a test of your own maturity and patience. Wishing you the best of luck once again.👍

Michael Perez5 said:The car itself doesn't even matter... It’s just the fact that he started screaming at me simply because I approached him with a question... I mean, who is actually the crazy one here? Why... why am I even sitting here writing this? If I hadn't posted this here, I probably would have written it on my blog or sent it to the local news... I just don't understand why he does this. What kind of example is that for people and for believers? Why!?

But look... I want to get married at St. Michael's Church, and I truly believe I have a right to do so... How can I go about fighting for those rights?

Good luck.🙂 Stand your ground. Remember, a priest doesn't actually "give" you anything of his own during a wedding; he is simply facilitating God's blessing. He has absolutely no business raising his voice at you. Don't be afraid to tell him plainly that his conduct was unprofessional and rude.
I didn't go through a crisis myself, so I was able to move forward with my wedding without any issues.
The way that priest behaved is completely unacceptable. They aren't saints, after all. You should let him know that you intend to file a formal complaint regarding his behavior.
I almost forgot to mention... the liver results came back within the normal range. His blood work looks excellent, too. A few years back, he had some enlarged lymph nodes, but at the time, the doctors couldn't quite pin down the cause.
Benjamin Murphy2 said:To start things off: have you had bloodwork done specifically for CMV? A CMV infection can actually trigger plasma cell reactivation, which leads to the production of antibodies against illnesses you thought were long gone.

If it isn't that, could we be looking at another immunological issue? Parvovirus B19 persistence is incredibly rare, and even EBV doesn't typically hang around indefinitely. Of course, it is entirely possible that you are dealing with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome triggered by EBV. While there aren't any specific "silver bullet" therapies for that, the silver lining is that it does eventually resolve, even if it feels like it takes years. How are your liver enzymes looking? What does your complete blood count show? Also, have you noticed any swollen lymph nodes?

Yes, I have. My CMV results came back negative for IgM, but my IgG is at 4.8.
As for EBV, that was confirmed five years ago. Back then, they told me it had already been persisting for quite a while. It’s definitely still in my system.😲
I have spent so much time researching and digging through information. Looking back, I realize I actually fared quite well considering the sheer amount of stress I've endured compared to the health I have now.🙂

But these viruses continue to plague me in different ways. I am someone who truly loves being productive—I have so much work to do, and I would love to spend more time writing—but these bugs just knock me sideways right when I feel most capable and have the most on my plate.😠
I want to break this cycle. Please, tell me how.🙂 What can I actually do? I've tried everything and followed all sorts of advice, but nothing has helped me finally conquer this EBV.
Maybe you have some insight. 🙂
Do you think taking a month of medical leave would help? I could just handle the bare essentials of my job and spend the rest of my time resting or perhaps doing some light writing here on the forum.😛
I’ve been battling an additional viral infection lately, and it has been quite a struggle. 😲
Can thirty days of pure rest actually help me defeat these viruses? Can I essentially declare war on them starting today?
What else would you suggest to support that plan?
Honestly, I am just fed up with these viruses. They’ve started dictating my entire life, and I’m ready to take control back.👎

Thanks so much for reaching out.🙂
You’re spot on with your guess.👍 It is indeed Parvovirus B19—I just tried to shorten the name for brevity.😁 His titer came back at 2.7.
His EA level is 48.
I know it’s probably nothing life-threatening,😁 but it has definitely been weighing on my mind.👎

I would truly appreciate any experiences or advice you all might have.🙂
And probably some influenza... most likely.

It seems like there isn't much documented experience out there. Either these viruses are considered insignificant by others, or I am seeing something much more serious. Believe me, this feels significant.😢
What can I even do? At this point, my only option feels like waiting to see if they just succumb to one another.😁
Still... thank you for maintaining these pages. I find myself reading them often. Perhaps I will eventually stumble upon... well, something similar.🙂
