Ugh, I am actually starting to spiral here! I haven't even decided on a cake design yet, and I have to have an answer by the beginning of next week!😱
I’m looking for something on the smaller side—maybe two tiers, or honestly, just one big tier since there are only about 43 people coming—something made with fondant that looks clean and simple! PLEASE, if anyone has photos or even just a link to a website, send them my way... anything at all... I am feeling totally desperate!🙂 🙂 🙂
rustyowl7 said:Yes, it sounds like a home business! Honestly, I wouldn't feel bad bringing it up to my wife (regardless of what my colleague thinks), especially since we aren't making this decision a few days before the event, but two months in advance. If we could find a better rate with this woman, I could put those savings toward some beautiful flowers instead...
Look, if you feel like saying something, then just say it. It's not like you're being rude; it just gives you the freedom to put that extra cash toward something else entirely, and let's face it, the price difference is actually pretty significant. Besides, around here, when you buy homemade treats from local bakers, they practically charge you by the $13pound!
rustyowl7 said:Help me out, please... I went to see a lady for some baked goods last Friday—she’s actually a friend of my mom's colleague—and her treats are truly wonderful, but she weighs $30. Is that considered excessive? I'm only asking because my mother "accidentally" mentioned yesterday that her coworker's sister lives over in St. Louis and does wedding catering and supplies two local bakeries for about $17 per pound. Now I'm torn; I feel like backing out of my order with this lady, but I'd feel terrible about my mom. Still, the price difference is quite significant in terms of $13! What should I do? Is it even fair to cancel now, considering I only just placed the request? My dad always says you get what you pay for, but I can't help but hesitate 🙄 ...
That definitely sounds expensive regardless of how you look at it. Honestly, at the hotel where I stay, they serve pastries for about $22 a pound. You should probably just be upfront with the woman and explain that the price was higher than you anticipated, especially since you realized there are much better deals out there and you're trying to keep your budget tight. It's a tough spot to be in, for sure, but that price just seems excessive. Is this more of a hobbyist thing or a professional business?
Zachary Gray35 said:Look, regarding the tiers... I think a smaller cake can have just as many layers as a massive one. At least in most cases, unless we're talking about a tiny dessert for maybe 10 people. It all comes down to the diameter of the tiers. A three-tier cake for a crowd of 140 can look exactly like a three-tier cake for 300—the layers on the larger one are just going to be wider.
I’ve actually been chewing on a similar question myself lately, because we’re looking at hosting about 40 guests for our big day, and I can't help but wonder if a two-tier wedding cake is even a possibility. Personally, I have my heart set on having it stacked in two tiers, even though I realize our guest list isn't exactly massive, but I think it would look just right. Does anyone here happen to know if that’s doable? Even if the tiers end up being a bit smaller in diameter, I’d still love to go with that two-tier look if it's an option.😕
Hey, I’ve been scrolling through your feed and noticed you have an absolutely massive collection of photos featuring these huge, elaborate wedding cakes, which looks incredible, but it actually got me wondering if you might happen to have any shots of smaller, more intimate cakes? Like, maybe just one or two tiers? I’m planning this tiny, low-key wedding and I’m really leaning towards something more understated, and honestly, I haven't been able to find the exact style I'm dreaming of anywhere else online. So, if you do have some pictures of those smaller designs lying around and you wouldn't mind sharing them, I would be so incredibly grateful!😘

One literally crumbled just from someone mentioning cookies. Now my cousins are gonna bake more using my recipes, and I’ll just handle the decorating.
That sounds amazing!👍 I think I’d choose that setup too, because those cakes are bound to be incredible!🙂 I really hope everything goes smoothly with the decorating; I'm rooting for you to make it look absolutely perfect!🙂

Never again. Maybe I'm just cursed.😲
Are you absolutely certain it was definitely the pill that made you feel that awful? Look, you lost a ton of blood, so have you considered that maybe the physical toll from all that bleeding was what actually wiped you out? I'm not saying it couldn't be the pill, but I find that hard to believe. Besides, there are so many different types out there, and maybe a different brand would actually work for your body. Either way, any of them should technically make your periods lighter and less painful!👍
Ever since I started taking birth control, my periods have been super light and honestly, they almost never hurt. Like, zero issues at all! It’s such a huge difference because before I was on the pill, I used to deal with that really uncomfortable aching, though even back then, I never actually found myself needing to reach for an Advil or anything to manage the cramps.🙂
Taylor Swift and copperraven39 those cakes look absolutely incredible! Honestly, I think I’m going to end up grabbing the chocolate one myself, because just looking at them has me craving something sweet. Yum!🙂
I honestly, all I’ve ever heard about Greenwood is nothing but glowing praise, especially when it comes to the food and how friendly the staff is there.👍
I’ve gotta admit, I am absolutely obsessed with marzipan myself, but I have to be realistic here because I know quite a few people on my guest list aren't really fans. Plus, my partner isn't a big fan either! So, at the end of the day, we’re definitely going to have to stick with fondant.🙂
So, what’s actually better then, the chocolate ganache or the marzipan?😕 Personally, I’m leaning towards something with rich chocolate or maybe even a smooth vanilla parfait!
I have a few questions that I'm sure are weighing on most couples currently planning their big day.
Let's tackle them one by one:
1. Where in the Midwest (maybe somewhere like Napa...) can I pick up some high-quality wine for a wedding? To be clear, I'm looking to buy directly from the winery.
2. Is there anywhere in the Midwest where I can rent those large glass vessels used for floating candles, flower petals, and things of that nature?
3. Where is the best place to find affordable balloons if we want to do those elaborate balloon art displays for the hall (either locally or maybe in a major city like Chicago)?
4. Any recommendations on where to shop for bridal and groom shoes (Midwest vs. a big city like Chicago)?
That's enough interrogation for now. 🙂
Thanks in advance for any suggestions you might have.
Best regards,
Sasha
I honestly think if you ever found yourself down in those old wine cellars in Napa, you could probably hammer out just about any deal you wanted.
You know, you can actually find some local florists that rent out those fancy decorative bowls, vases, and all that extra decor stuff. Honestly, I’m thinking about just hitting up my local flower shop to rent everything I need—vases, vessels, the whole nine yards—rather than wasting money buying things I'll probably just end up storing in the garage forever.
It really all boils down to whether you’re talking about those helium-filled balloons or just the standard air-filled ones. If we're talking about the regular kind, I'm pretty sure they usually sit at around... $0.67I was just sitting here thinking about how much stuff you can actually get done with a little bit of helium—like, if you grab a balloon filled with helium and maybe some CCA too, you've got a whole different set of possibilities on your hands. $2.75 If you're looking for everything in one spot, honestly, just head over to Indianapolis—there's this one shop right behind the Super center that carries absolutely everything you could possibly need.
When it comes to shoes, honestly, it all just boils down to how much cash you’re willing to part with and what kind of style you actually gravitate toward.
crimsoncrane12 said:I am legitimately an allergy sufferer when it comes to walnuts, chocolate, and anything chocolate-related (cocoa, chips, white chocolate...), I get a rash even from the tiny bit they put on top of a latte. Dessert is OK, but I have no idea how that would work in a cake. Plus, I can't stand hazelnuts, and I hate chestnuts too.
So, what's the move now?
Man, that really does sound like a tough spot to be in! If I can think of any ideas, I'll definitely post them here, but hopefully some of the other girls can jump in with some suggestions too!🙂
I read somewhere recently that fruit cakes usually end up looking pretty messy because the juice leaks out and makes the sponge soggy. Since I'm an allergy sufferer when it comes to chocolate and walnuts, I'd love some actual cake suggestions.
Wait, you're an allergy sufferer regarding chocolate??? Do you mean you just don't like it, or are we talking a legit medical allergy? Man, lucky you.😬 If I were allergic to that damn chocolate, maybe I wouldn't be sweating my life away at the gym trying to drop these extra few pounds!😛
Maybe try a dessert like tiramisu (I think that's safe, though I can't be totally sure😁 ) or maybe something with hazelnuts instead of walnuts... honestly, I'm running out of ideas for what to suggest to you.🤔
My husband was really leaning toward a fruit cake, but after hearing about the texture issues, there is absolutely no way. It’s going to be chocolate. My house, my rules!🙂
Honestly, they’ve completely lost their minds.😕 😕 😠 I mean, who in their right mind would drop $2000 on a single cake? It’s just beyond ridiculous, really. Even if it happens to be the most incredible thing you've ever tasted... it still doesn't make sense!
I haven't actually spent much time poking around their site myself, but I'd imagine there's plenty of info on there that would answer what you're looking for!🙂
