If you want my advice, skip the fruit flavors. I’ve been to way too many weddings where the fruit filling leaked through the frosting, and it looks pretty messy...
Personally, I’d go with chocolate or maybe hazelnut.

Where did you end up going to talk about the cake?

If you want my two cents, just stay away from the fruit fillings because I've been to way too many weddings where the fruit juice leaked through the sponge and made the whole thing look like a total mess...
Personally, I’d go with chocolate or maybe hazelnut myself.

Where did you end up going to meet about the cake?

We actually haven't sat down for that meeting yet, but we're handling all those arrangements with the guy who handled our initial walkthrough for the venue, the catering, the drinks, and everything else. So once we head back in to hammer out the fine details, we'll get the cake sorted then too. It'll probably be sometime after Easter since we basically have the whole thing locked in already—it's really just the little things left to figure out!

And thanks for the heads-up.😘 No fruit for me! Phew, my fiancé might be a little disappointed since he was leaning toward that, but I'm strictly a chocolate person! 😁

If you have their catalog handy, I really love those first two cakes in the second row under the wedding section...
This might sound like a dumb question, but...
Are you going to use fondant?
Where did you end up meeting with them to discuss everything?

It’s definitely going to be fondant. We actually settled everything through the hotel in Indianapolis where we're hosting the wedding, since they offered to handle all the cakes and desserts for us. Since our guest list isn't huge, it just made sense financially to go with them.

And yes, I do have the catalog right here. I'm totally with you—those specific ones are gorgeous. I haven't quite nailed down the exact shape or flavor yet, though. It'll either be chocolate or something fruity, but I know for sure it has to be white and burgundy on the outside!👍

Scott Smith68 said:So, how much did they end up charging you???

We’ve got about 40 people coming to the wedding, which, if you ask me, is actually the perfect number for a celebration like this. $133 Teenage birthday cake? Honestly, we can make absolutely whatever we want, so let's just go for it. It’s going to be great. $3.25 Personally, I feel like that’s pretty much the standard price you'll see most of the time, though I suppose it could vary depending on who you ask, but at least from what I've been reading on the forums lately, that seems to be the consensus.🙂

you seriously need to check out the wedding cakes over at Crown...
I was honestly blown away, so I'm definitely going to give their head pastry chef a call to get everything sorted out

Vance, I already did and even put my deposit down! They are absolutely incredible!👍

We ended up going with the smooth kind ourselves, because let’s be honest, presentation matters just as much as anything else. I’m not saying the flavor isn't a big deal, obviously, but I absolutely can't stand those cheap, oily ones that taste like margarine.🤣

Besides, I’ve never really been a fan of whipped cream, and if you ask me, the smooth texture just looks way more sophisticated than having all that fluff on top.😁
Feeling weak and nauseous... in Health ·
Are you absolutely sure about that? I’m really just asking!🙂

It might just be the stress getting to you, honestly, because when your body starts feeling run down like this, it’s usually just screaming at you to finally take a breather.

The thing is, a standard blood panel is really the gold standard for seeing what's actually going on under the hood, so if you want to stop worrying about it, just head over to your doctor and get some labs done.👍

I am absolutely obsessed with those peaches, seriously. They are basically the ultimate wedding dessert if you ask me. 🙂

plenty.

That is exactly right, and I couldn't agree more with you there! We don't do any of that whole packing up food business at our house either, especially since everything we host really just revolves around the main dinner anyway!👍

sly47 said:Which specific ring caught your eye at that jewelry shop in Graz? Do they actually have a catalog on their website? We actually own some of their pieces too, and man, they aren't cheap... though we actually picked ours up while we were visiting Austria, so they ended up being about half the price for us... but I guess that doesn't really matter since you aren't exactly living right next to the border.
Anyway, I've got some Midwestern roots myself 😍 with a grandma in a small town in the Midwest and an aunt over in a small town in the Midwest...🤣

Oh, stop it! That's awesome! It’s great to see a fellow Midwesterner in the mix! 👍

Now, even though Austria isn't exactly my backyard, I have an aunt in a major city like Chicago so I find myself heading that way pretty often, which makes getting over to Austria feel like nothing! Honestly, if I had known this past summer that buying rings in Austria was such a steal, I would have pulled the trigger immediately. My family and I spent three days vacationing near Graz, so we actually made a point to stop by the shops there! 😬 But anyway, I'll definitely try to hunt down something we both love and then I'll post it here!

By the way, how does it work when you cross the border? Did you guys have to declare everything to customs or what?😲

Hey everyone, does anyone happen to have a clue how much rings usually go for at a jeweler like Tiffany & Co.? I’m trying to figure out if it’s even possible to find a nice white gold ring somewhere in Chicago for around $2,000-$833? I actually swung by Tiffany & Co. yesterday—my partner bought me this absolutely stunning white gold engagement ring there, so we figured we might just get our wedding bands from them too—but honestly, the prices are just astronomical!👎 The cheapest ones they had were sitting right around $1000, and they weren't even anything special. But the ones I actually liked? They were closer to $2667???😠 I mean, seriously...
If you guys have any suggestions, please let me know: where should I look and what kind of budget am I looking at?🙂

So, I’m checking in from Indianapolis (well, technically just outside Elizabeth). My wedding is set for June 15th, 2007, and we’re holding it over at the Hyatt Regency. We’ve decided to keep things simple with just a dinner reception, which ends up costing us $50 per person, drinks included. They’re actually going to handle all the desserts for us too (one cake $0.83) along with the wedding cake—there are about 40 of us attending, so the cake is $133, and the best part is we can pick whatever flavor we want. Honestly, the ballroom is absolutely stunning. We aren't hiring a live band or anything; we're just going to curate our own playlist from a CD. We’re even making our own invitations and favors! Our photographer is based right here in Elizabeth (Anic Photography), and the total package for all three items comes to $167 (that covers the church ceremony coverage, a DVD, a CD with all the digital shots, 150 prints, and a physical album). From what I’ve seen of his portfolio, we truly couldn't find anyone better. Of course, if we went with someone else, it would definitely end up being more expensive! Wishing all you ladies the absolute best of luck!😍
