It's a bummer you're running a single 16GB stick of RAM; Ryzen really thrives on dual channel. Dual channel makes a huge difference.
Even though the power supply is a bit weak, you could definitely slap in a much stronger GPU like an RX 6600. For about $733 it's a pretty decent buy.
Your next worthwhile upgrade would be an RX 6700. At that price point, it's also a solid deal.

Just grab the cheapest model you can find; the differences are pretty much negligible:
- Performance varies by maybe 0 to 5%, depending on how much a specific model is overclocked. Those cards claiming a 5% boost are usually way more expensive and totally not worth the money.
- Cooling solutions—you might see some variation between models, but generally at this level, you won't run into single-fan setups, so any of them will be fine.

For example: It has triple-fan cooling, so it's great in that regard, though it isn't factory overclocked. It might not even be possible to overclock it since it's essentially just an overclocked version of the RTX 3070.

I've got a laptop running a Core i7 and a GTX 1650. With Ray Tracing set to medium-low and DLSS turned on, I'm pulling a steady 40 FPS in Blade Runner, and man, it looks incredible. This is just the 45W version of the card, so a 3060 would handle this even better.
DLSS is a total lifesaver; you get about 30-50% more frames in Blade Runner thanks to it. It seems like the latest drivers and optimization efforts really paid off—a 3060 should be able to handle Ray Tracing quite nicely if you have DLSS enabled.

TBD after seeing ray tracing in person, there is zero chance I'm picking up an Intel GPU. At least not until they get their RT performance somewhere near this level. Running Cyberpunk cranked to the max with all the details without RT, it doesn't even come close to how the game looks on medium settings with RT. It's a next-level visual experience.

Once you turn on DLSS (wherever it's supported), those raw performance advantages Intel has in this price range just melt away... I'm really not a fanboy, but for this generation, Intel needs to offer WAY better performance and pricing in the same bracket to make up for the lack of RT and DLSS. My two cents 🙂

CDW is more expensive and their selection is pretty weak right now, especially when it comes to power supplies. If you can stretch your budget by another $87 bucks, the Intel Core i5-12400 is a much better deal.

The listing mentions some minor scratches on the case, which is why I dropped the price. If you're a total perfectionist, feel free to swap it for something else in the same price bracket 🙂
Other than that, I think this is a really well-balanced build. The monitor is a 27" 1440p 144Hz—definitely a best buy for this price range. The 3070 is perfect for driving that resolution.
You might want to consider adding an HDD if you tend to hoard movies or music locally.

Order confirmed on Monday, handed over to the international carrier on Tuesday, and it STILL hasn't arrived. On top of that, I've seen the status change to 'processing at warehouse' three different times already. Wtf? 😕

Ended up going with the 6650XT after all. For about $267 less, it’s a much better deal, and at least I won't be overpaying for a decent GPU. DLSS is the only thing 🕺

That NVMe is the cheapest one available. Since this is primarily for gaming, I don't see much point in blowing the budget just to shave a couple of seconds off load times on an already fast drive. I'd usually suggest a standard SATA SSD to save some cash, but they're priced basically the same here.

I'm actually leaning more toward whether it makes sense to go with an Intel 13th gen instead. I haven't followed the chip wars quite as closely as I should, but I heard the 13th gen has really closed the gap with Intel in gaming performance. But since the price for similar performance tiers (like an i5 12400F versus an R5 5600) is identical, I'm starting to think there isn't much reason to stick with Intel after all...

Which part of my explanation didn't sink in? The final export comes from the raw footage. A proxy is just a substitute used during the edit—usually at a much lower resolution to make things easier on the system.
It’s no wonder the animation and film industries here in the States are struggling, and advertising is falling apart too, when this is the kind of "professionalism" being practiced.
