If you haven't done any actual training—like real boxing or Muay Thai—your technique is probably gonna be off, too. You'll end up learning bad habits, and if you ever decide to actually join a gym later, unlearning that sloppy form is going to take forever. Honestly, my advice? Just find a local boxing gym. But even if you just want to mess around at home, please, just get some gloves.

I get that, I really do, but I just can't bring myself to sign up for a full boxing class. I’m already hitting the gym pretty hard doing rowing workouts, and now that I've built up some strength, I just wanted to try hitting something to get a feel for the impact... I don't really see myself becoming a pro boxer or anything, you know? But yeah, okay, fine, I'll grab some gloves.👍
Got any recommendations on which gloves I should pick up?😎

But look, tell me something—I've got a bag too, but I have zero clue where to mount it, or honestly, how to even set it up. Where did you put yours and how'd you do it? What kind of bag are you rocking?

I've got this small 20-30lb bag, and I just hung it from a beam in my garage. I figured if I tried mounting it to the ceiling, one heavy hit and half my drywall would probably come crashing down on my head...
If you've got some beams available, let me know and I'll snap a pic of mine and shoot it over to you in a DM.😉

So, I went ahead and picked up a heavy bag and some hand wraps, but I totally skipped out on getting gloves. Now that I’m actually getting into the swing of hitting things, my knuckles are starting to feel pretty busted up. I guess... do you guys think it'll actually help if I finally grab some decent gloves!?!

The one in this photo looks okay, I guess—though I’m honestly not sure how the weight transfer works. If it’s just some cheap cable and pulley system, it’s probably not gonna be great. For example, I bought this little setup for about $500, but the whole mechanism relies on a cable and a pulley. The real issue is that the resistance isn't smooth at all. You basically have to jerk the weight to get it moving, and then it feels way too light once it starts. It’s nothing like the heavy-duty machines you see at a real Gold's Gym. Honestly, I’d rather just grab two 20-pound dumbbells or a 50-pound barbell and call it a day than mess around with that machine. I mean, you could probably get *something* out of it, but it's just not the same. It’s either go for a legit, pro-grade machine or just hit up a proper gym.

But wait, if it's not using pulleys, how else would the weight even move?

I mean, you could totally grab one of those all-in-one home gym setups at a place like Dick's Sporting Goods or even just order one online. You know, those 5-in-1 things where you've got the lat pulldown bar hanging from above and then those little ankle weights for leg days... it's basically the same deal, just way cheaper since it's not doing quite as much, I guess. And, uh, should I be getting into protein shakes too?image

The only thing that really bugs me is how they just left the story hanging. I honestly doubt we'll ever see any more sequels.
