Sex is fine, but my OBGYN says no?! in Women's Health ·
It really comes down to parental responsibility, doesn't it? It’s a heavy thought, but I truly believe that just as parents ensure their kids get to the dentist, they should be doing the same for their daughters—ideally with their mothers, or perhaps a trusted female mentor if a mother isn't in the picture. When a girl hits about 16, she ought to be gently guided by the hand toward a gynecologist. We need to start those medical records and, more importantly, normalize the idea that these check-ups are a fundamental necessity rather than some taboo subject, so she isn't terrified when the time actually comes. During our religious education classes, we touch upon themes of sexuality quite frequently, and I find myself asking the girls if their mothers have ever taken them to a specialist; predictably, it's always fewer than 5% who say yes. Honestly, it feels like a profound failure of care—a mix of deep-seated shame and genuine neglect.

In that movie, honestly, you wouldn't waste the word 'wonderful' on that kid. Not even close. 🤣

And perhaps it could happen a second time... though right now, the theater is absolutely packed—people are practically sitting on top of one another. I haven't experienced a crowd like that in quite a long while.

And so it appears that I shall find myself making the journey once more... though, mercifully, only when the new year arrives 😂

Honestly, any woman could find herself sitting through this just for the sake of seeing the uncle—whether he’s stripped down to nothing or galloping away on a horse during a race... both scenarios are, quite frankly, rather stimulating. But it feels less like one cohesive story and more like you're watching two entirely different movies at once: one a gritty Western and the other a heavy war drama. They're only loosely tethered together, if you ask me.
Honestly, the way the doctor treated me seemed incredibly kind—actually, more than I probably deserved. I’ve never really had a bad run-in with medical staff, to be truthful. My primary care physician has been wonderful, my OB-GYN through the public health system was great, even my dentist under the local clinic was solid. I even actually enjoyed my week-long stay at the hospital during my last surgery, though, mind you, getting those stitches pulled out was a real pain. At the end of the day, if you just treat these people like human beings, there’s really no reason for them to give you anything less than respect in return.
Why am I seeing zero results? in Hobbies & Leisure ·
I KNOW exactly why I’m seeing zero progress here. It turns out I’ve drifted into this cursed plateau where I’m just going through the motions without any actual grit, and now—per my own poor judgment—I’m supposed to suddenly become a master of nutrition. But let’s be perfectly honest: I simply cannot, and quite frankly, will not, strip my life of everything that actually tastes good. Life is far too short for bland food. So, how on earth does one break out of a rut like this?

Dana Miller2 said:Once you cross that twenty-five-year milestone, I swear, the sheer effort required to coax your body back into any semblance of peak condition increases exponentially; it’s as if the biological grace we enjoyed in our youth simply evaporates overnight, leaving us to grapple with a metabolism that seems to have gone on permanent vacation while the rest of us are left staring in disbelief at the mirror.😁

Why on earth would I stop now? Honestly, it feels like my life is finally starting to find its rhythm. For the first time, I actually have my own stream of income, a handle on my own schedule, and—dare I say it—some semblance of healthy priorities. In the past, things were just a mess; you’re either too young and naive to know better, or you're drowning under the crushing weight of high school exams, or you're just a broke college kid living off cheap cafeteria food and sheer willpower. But this? This is the moment. Now, finally, the timing is actually right.

Reading through those comments about childhood obesity, I can't help but picture my own students—just a constant stream of kids clutching a Mountain Dew and a bag of chips, looking absolutely weighed down by their own bulk. It’s quite a stark contrast to how I grew up; there was never any processed junk in our pantry, no sugary sodas or cheap cookies lying around, and honestly, we all stayed pretty fit back then. But then life happened, and suddenly I found myself falling into this cycle of quick meals made of pudding and pastries, relying on my own paycheck to hit up Walmart whenever they had those "buy two, get one free" deals, and frankly, it’s been my undoing. Those damn commercials... it makes me wonder, why is it that they aren't allowed to advertise cigarettes, yet they can peddle this absolute garbage food that's just as addictive and just as destructive to our health?!!!

Well... I’ve been attempting this whole "healthy eating" thing for several months now—though, let’s be honest, it’s more of a constant struggle against my own impulses—and every single day, my soul practically begs for something decadent... you know, something like a bar of dark chocolate, or maybe some Nutella, or a pint of premium ice cream, or even just a handful of those sugary wafers... and every single day, I find myself forced to manufacture some new, increasingly ridiculous excuse to avoid buying them and giving in to the temptation.
Period talk: Questions and advice in Women's Health ·
I suppose I grasp the general concept... more or less. However, given that we have this upcoming long weekend, I am contemplating shifting my entire schedule by just a couple of days—moving things from Saturday to Monday, so to speak. Since I rely on birth control pills to keep my hormones somewhat predictable, my cycle functions with the precision of a Swiss watch. Does anything catastrophic actually happen if I were to, say, take two extra doses right now, and then subsequently shorten the following cycle by that same amount? Or is the dosage simply too negligible for the body to even register my meddling and react according to my whims? It feels utterly ridiculous to think about starting a second pack immediately without that usual break, just because of a mere two-day holiday.
Coffee: yay or nay? in Health ·
I don't touch coffee. Honestly, I broke that habit ages ago. Does anyone actually believe that having some dark, jittery liquid in a mug makes them the boss of their own life?!!! No, thank you. I don't drink it, and frankly, I don't miss it one bit. When you actually manage to get a solid eight hours of sleep every night, there’s really no need to resort to chemical crutches... Besides, a good workout is what actually gets my blood pumping—there truly is no better recipe for waking up.
What should I get for a godparent gift at a Baptism? in Students & Teens ·
Adam Thomas14 said:I’ve never actually handed someone a Bible as a confirmation gift. When I went through it, the church basically bought (read: paid for) my Bible. If my godparent had actually given me one, it would've just been an extra copy gathering dust on a shelf.

And have you seriously never sat down with your godfather to actually discuss the sacrament you're preparing for? If the local parish organizes a bulk purchase of Bibles (which is necessary precisely because godparents often have no clue what they're doing—and since I teach religious education, please, for the love of God, don't come storming into my parish looking for guidance 😬), then you simply tell the godfather not to overspend... though, frankly, those situations are quite rare...

Lawrence Wells said:"Dramatic nonsense," my foot! What, is she going to pivot to an off-topic rant about abortion next?! 🤣 She’s already cycled through every single possible topic just to find a way to link it back to that!🙄

This is what we call an example... Either godparents need to undergo actual preparation (for everyone, not just in those select parishes where the catechists are actually competent) or the whole tradition should just be scrapped entirely, because most people—if not all of them—don't truly grasp the underlying meaning anyway...
What should I get for a godparent gift at a Baptism? in Students & Teens ·
Wait, hold on, I find myself feeling rather perplexed now. If we are discussing a sacrament that serves as the culmination of Christian initiation—the very moment when young people finally gain the autonomy to be chosen as godparents themselves, stepping up to serve as role models and pillars of faith for others—then really, what could possibly be a more fitting gift than the Bible ?!!! Furthermore, if they don't even possess a Bible by that stage of life, then it is surely the absolute most critical moment to provide one... perhaps with a heartfelt inscription from the godparent on the inside cover, something along the lines of "for your continued spiritual growth—this is merely the beginning," or some such sentiment... It isn't just something one would expect from a godparent; it should practically be a solemn obligation. And does anyone actually realize that if a godparent were to advise their godchild to do something that runs contrary to the teachings of the Church, that would constitute a grievous sin for the godparent? I am talking about advice like: "Major in ethics instead, religious studies are just nonsense." Or worse: "Get an abortion, you're far too young to be a parent." Or even: "Skip confession, let's just head to the bar instead."
And in what possible context could giving someone a Bible be considered a mockery?!!!

Well, naturally, since I’m serving as her godmother, I suppose I’m now duty-bound at least once a week to pester her about how many chapters she’s managed to get through, and whether she’d actually enjoy it if I swung by so we could tackle the reading together... 😬

To call the holy sacrament anything short of divine madness is, quite frankly, an insult far too heavy to bear... ☕

Oh, those truly were the days... Honestly, when that rerun aired recently, I found myself recording bits and pieces of it just so I’d have some mental ammunition to help me endure this relentless drought we're having... It's always quite entertaining, isn't it?
