Ancient Egyptians practiced skull trepanation, and according to certain texts, even performed imperial incisions... if any of you have an Introduction to Medicine textbook handy, there should be a section on it... I can look up the exact details and methods if anyone is genuinely interested

As previously mentioned, small cell lung cancer carries the most unfavorable prognosis... it tends to metastasize to the brain
Well, it really depends on how high those levels were... It’s possible you simply ate something that required a bit more "heavy lifting" from the liver during detoxification.
I don't believe there is any reason to discard a book like this. Every academic textbook serves a vital purpose, though the challenge lies in the fact that they are tailored for such a specific audience. If you happen to know a medical student or a young resident, perhaps consider it a gift... 😁

Syncope—that’s essentially what you experienced. It happens when the brain doesn't get enough oxygen. This could be caused by low oxygen levels in the air, such as in an enclosed space, combined with anemia making it harder for your blood to carry oxygen. It could also stem from a drop in blood pressure due to underlying illness, dehydration, orthostatic hypotension, or perhaps even a dip in your blood sugar levels...

The symptoms generally involve weight loss, muscle wasting, and spontaneous bleeding caused by vascular weakness and clotting factor deficiencies. You also see vitamin deficiencies along with their typical side effects, diarrhea, and steatorrhea, alongside frequent infections or infestations. In extreme, sub-lethal cases, various tumors may eventually develop.
Specific variations include kwashiorkor—characterized by protein loss—as well as marasmus, which involves severe general malnutrition, and cachexia, typically seen in terminal stages related to cancer.
While there isn't one single specific finding, the clinical assessment relies on differential blood counts, standard biochemical panels, albumin and globulin levels, lipid profiles, coagulation studies, and electrolytes...

Of course, considering the heightened risk for secondary conditions, malnutrition itself constitutes a disease rather than just a symptom.
Other ailments stemming from malnutrition include increased protein catabolism and its various repercussions: hypoproteinemia, edema, fluid transudation into intercellular tissues, and muscle weakness—which can progress to respiratory muscle failure and death via respiratory insufficiency.
Furthermore, elevated blood lipids lead to significant damage across multiple organs and their vital functions.

I couldn't agree more that it isn't without its uses; I have prescribed it to patients dealing with various pain syndromes and found it quite helpful, especially in cases far more severe than those following a tendonectomy...

Tumors occurring in malnourished states are a direct consequence of a weakened immune system... just a small observation, though, that malnutrition in any form is merely one of many causes of such depletion.

I don't think you'll really need Tramal after tonsil surgery... How old are you? A 25 mg dose of Voltaren is basically for kids; if you're over 15, feel free to take 50 mg three times a day for a few days until the pain subsides... Don't exceed five doses, though I doubt you'll even need that many much longer.
Living with Mitochondrial Diseases in Health ·
Well, those are genetic disorders where the mitochondria are inherited exclusively from the mother... they affect multiple systems because every cell needs functional mitochondria to operate, with the exception of red blood cells... essentially, the damaged oxidative phosphorylation process fails to generate sufficient energy from oxygen, which leads to widespread hypoenergetic states across various tissues.
How to lose weight in three months? in Hobbies & Leisure ·
It isn't merely about the quantity of food consumed, but rather the quality... what you eat, how nutritious it is, and how diverse your diet remains. Furthermore, if you drink beer on a daily basis, it would be prudent to have your liver function tested. Impaired liver function can often be the underlying cause behind issues like a "beer belly" or enlarged chest tissue, or perhaps it could even be gynecomastia... it is certainly advisable to completely abstain from alcohol until you have had everything medically evaluated.
