I feel for you, Jeremy Nelson3, but please don't lose hope. This baby will make their appearance whenever they’re ready. Just try to relax and focus on enjoying each other's company—you might just find yourselves pleasantly surprised by when it all happens.
If you can barely even see a line, then CONGRATULATIONS—but let’s be real, your hCG levels are probably still too low for it to show up any darker than that.
Just take another test in a few days if you're still unsure. Do you have any more kits on hand?
If you’ve ever dealt with morning sickness in your life (and let's be honest, most of you have)... it's exactly like this. I personally only threw up once, and even then, it was just a little bit of fluid because some peach-flavored snack I opened smelled absolutely revolting.
The nausea has been hitting me since week 7—it used to last all day, and the only relief was when I was asleep. Now that I'm 16 weeks along, I still get hit with it occasionally, mostly in the evenings, but if I just have a little bread and milk, it settles right down.
Amanda Stewart69 said:What Ginić said is spot on. Honestly, so many people have told me the same thing. My period started when I was 12; it usually lasts about 6 days, though sometimes it stretches to 7, and the cramps used to be brutal. Generally speaking, women dealing with heavy flows like that often struggle with PCOS or fertility issues when they're trying to conceive. Not everyone, obviously, but that’s the rule of thumb. And I'm not just making this up—it's what most people say. There.
There are no universal rules here. I started my period at 11; back then, it lasted 5 or 6 days and didn't hurt at all. For the last four years, it’s been down to 3 days, but every other month the cramps drive me absolutely insane (always every other month, though). I also had PCOS, but my scans have been completely clear for the last two years. Plus, I have a retroverted uterus, and I ended up getting pregnant within just two months.
Congrats to Ksenia on the confirmed pregnancy and the positive results from the doctors. 😘
Mom is probably just feeling a bit down because she wasn't ready for her little girl to be becoming a mother herself so soon. It’s always hard letting go of someone you've raised.
If I’d noticed symptoms like extreme fatigue or tender breasts, I probably would have taken a test a few days before my period was even due. Pregnancy tests work by detecting levels of HCA Healthcare hormone—specifically the pregnancy hormone—so if conception actually happened, the test will pick up on that hormone and confirm you're pregnant.
Honestly, it might be smarter to just wait until your period is actually late; by then, those hormone levels should be high enough for the test to give you a clear answer.
Linda Hernandez15 said:I am definitely not messing around here😲 My period is incredibly late—it’s been overdue since April—and my stomach is seriously bloating up😕 I get hungry out of nowhere, my breasts feel sore, and everything smells way more intense than usual🙄
🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 I'm going through the exact same thing😍
My period is still late 🤣 (sorry, I just couldn't help myself)
Before I got pregnant, my cycle used to be off by up to 20 days. But for about eight months leading up to it, everything was perfectly regular. Then one morning, it just didn't show up, so I took a test—and it was positive. We actually had a baby on the brain!
There are plenty of reasons why it might be late, like stress and all that.
Just take a test and let us know how it goes. Good luck! 😘
Make sure you have your OB/GYN by your side too; it’ll give you some peace of mind knowing you can rely on them and have their full support.
I picked up the Mayo Clinic book, but honestly, check Craigslist first because they charge about $40 in bookstores—$167 whereas we snagged ours on Craigslist for just $13. It’s a massive 750-page guide that covers everything from what to expect during pregnancy to labor and that entire first year with the baby.
If you’re seeing a vertical line, no matter how faint it looks, you're pregnant.
MM, we’re both 23, and even though we’ve been married for a year and were actually planning for a baby, we were still totally caught off guard—scared, overwhelmed, and obviously overjoyed all at once. Honestly, nobody can tell you exactly how life is about to change.
The only thing that truly matters is that you want this little one; everything else will just fall into place eventually. And hey, we’re right here if you need anything at all.
Jeffrey Cook55 said:Here’s what happened: I went out with my boyfriend yesterday to grab a test—we got an Intim Plus—and I took it around 6 PM. I actually bought another one and took it this morning, but I am so confused. For a positive result, there should be a vertical line, but mine shows up so faintly that I can barely even see it. The instructions say it doesn't matter if one line is darker than the other, and they show three different examples. Mine looks most like the one where the vertical line is weaker than the horizontal one. Looking at the explanation for that specific image, I’ll quote it: "Image C—this also indicates a 'pregnancy' result. If there is a vertical blue line in the oval window, and a '-' sign appears in the square window within 10 minutes of performing the test, the result is 'infertility'." I am just a mess right now. Has anyone else had something like this happen?
I’m going to buy one more test and try again in three days.
Honestly, I was crying yesterday when I saw it. This wasn't planned. Afterwards, I found myself laughing and crying at the exact same time. The problem is I have no idea how we are going to manage all of this. I live with my parents, I'm 25, almost done with college, but I don't have a job yet. My boyfriend works, but his job is the kind where he could get laid off at any moment. Plus, my parents are pretty authoritative, and I have no clue how to tell them. Right now, I'm just stressing over how to drop the news (once I'm certain) without shocking them—even though avoiding that seems impossible.
Abortion isn't even an option for me; I couldn't do it, and it's not that the baby wouldn't be wanted, but I am terrified if this is true because I don't know how we'll cope. My boyfriend is being supportive, even though he's a little scared too, but he’s definitely the calmer one in all of this. Aside from the pregnant woman falling apart here, everyone else seems relatively composed. 😬 One minute I'm fine, the next I'm sobbing.
Has anyone ever been in a situation like this? I really need some advice, a positive comment, or just anything...🙂
From what I remember, a vertical line needs to appear in the oval window to show the test worked correctly; then, in the square window, you get a minus sign if it's not pregnancy, or a plus if it is (if yours was a plus, congratulations).
In my case, the horizontal line (-) was super faint and the vertical one (|) was darker—but even if that vertical one is hard to see, it means the HCG hormone was detected and you are pregnant. If the square window only shows a minus, then you aren't. I have a photo of my test on my phone, so I'll try to upload it so you can see.
Anyway, if you are pregnant, don't fear your parents or anyone else. What matters is that you and your boyfriend love each other and want this baby; eventually, everything will work out okay. Parents tend to overreact because they worry about their kids, but this will be something beautiful in their lives too (they might just need some time to process it).
Don't give up; we are here if you need anything. Have faith in yourself. Everything in life eventually finds its way and settles into place. 😘
Jeffrey Cook55 said:I know I don't need a referral to see an OBGYN; it's not like it's my first time heading to the clinic 🙂 But since I've never dealt with a UTI before, I figured I'd ask.
Anyway, I'll get everything sorted in a few days—tests and all—and then we'll see. I'll let you guys know what's going on.😁
Obviously you don't need a referral for an OBGYN, I didn't even say that!) But they’re going to examine you—maybe they'll spot some irritation or redness—and then they can write the referral for the urine culture.
Sure, your primary care doctor could give you the referral for the culture, but they won't actually perform an exam, whereas at the OBGYN, you might actually get some answers right away.
When I was dealing with an infection, I also had this discharge that completely irritated my skin down there, and honestly, everything was just stinging like crazy.
