hollowpilot58 said:analogskipper12, I’d much rather be pulling out a beta

It seems like a waste of money at this point. A test should probably yield results within a day or two if there’s actually anything to find. If I were relying on my own questionable judgment, I’d probably end up missing two consecutive months.

I know I’m probably just grasping at straws here, but... 🤷
I can't seem to shake this feeling. I can't just go back to living my normal life, acting like nothing has changed...
My period arrived right on day 28. But it’s wrong. It’s light, it’s weird—it leaked a little the first day, stopped completely on the second, and now it’s just spotting. Usually, my periods are heavy and straightforward.
I took a test on the second day of this bleeding, and it was negative.
Look, I've had enough cycles in my life to know what they're supposed to feel like. Usually, there's heavy flow, cramping, bloating... none of that. Just this slight spotting.
Should I take another test? If so, when? And what if the test gives me a false negative?
What about a blood test? When would that be appropriate? How am I supposed to ask for one when I'm technically already having my period?
Will they just put me in one of those flimsy, thin hospital gowns that ties in the back? 🤣

Perhaps wait a few more days before trying another test. If that also turns up negative, it might be worth scheduling an appointment with your OB-GYN. I personally experienced two very light periods that lasted only a single day, though unfortunately, I wasn't pregnant; my hormones were just a bit out of balance (I have a progesterone deficiency, so I take Duphaston during the second half of my cycle).

Henry Young5 said:We’ve been at it for just under six months now. Honestly? It’s incredible. Everything is perfect, except for this one specific hiccup: our timing. Usually, we’re totally in sync and finish right around the same time, which is great. But when I hit my limit, I have to pull out, and then she’s just left hanging—completely unsatisfied. And look, I feel terrible about it. I genuinely love watching her enjoy herself; I want her to have a good time too.

She isn't interested in condoms, and our current method of contraception is the IUD (yeah, I know, it might not be the most foolproof thing ever, but it’s the only way she’ll agree to have sex, and I care way too much about this connection to pass it up). We both tested clean at the start and we aren't seeing anyone else, so STDs aren't the worry here—it's strictly the pregnancy scare. I’m pretty disciplined and always make sure to pull out at least five seconds before the point of no return, but I’m terrified that one day I won't be able to control it, especially if she's on top.

We definitely don't need a kid right now (translation: we’re both full-time students with zero dollars in the bank), but we definitely need the sex. Also, anal is off the table.

I almost managed to talk her into the pill once when her period was running a few days late, but then these other issues popped up. Please, give me some practical advice or even some medical talking points I can use to convince her to start taking the pill. It feels like our only real solution.

How do I force her? Well, you can't. Not if she isn't willing.
I suppose I should ask: what are her likely reasons for rejecting both condoms and the pill?
Let people come for me if they want, but I can't help feeling like the idea of a pregnancy might not actually be as terrible to her as it is to me...

My vision seems perfectly fine to me.
The issue, I suppose, lies more with the condescending tone used here. ☕

Megan Miller3 said:Yeah, I was thinking the exact same thing, but my musicians are looking at $1,800 and the band is around $2,000, so that's getting a little steep for me... plus, they won't be traveling all this way just for me (even though my parents are absolutely heartbroken about it).😢
I suspect the musicians might be cheaper if it were just a small gathering at my place or his, but since they’re coming all the way to San Diego from Washington, D.C., it doesn't really make sense to hire them for just an hour or two.🤷
So, for the ceremony and the quick reception at location X, I think I'll just book a small acoustic group for about an hour or ninety minutes. That seems like the most sensible move for now.🙂

I actually wanted to have a choir perform right in front of the church, but my husband shut that idea down immediately—he pointed out we shouldn't be hosting a massive charity concert with fifty performers—so we ended up not doing it.🤣
I've always had a soft spot for 🙏🙏

Eric Allen4 said:If you don't mind me asking, how much does it usually cost to have Musicians come to a venue just to fill the gaps between band sets? I’m currently weighing my options—maybe just an accordionist and a guitarist, or something along those lines.

Well, they were looking for someone specifically for the home performance, which was what $667 requested, but for the full day through the evening, it would have been $1067. We eventually figured that for that amount of $400, it probably made more sense to just let them play until they were completely exhausted 🤣. That’s essentially how it went down. They ended up playing for us until about 3 in the morning. 😉

Eric Allen4 said:Regarding the music selection—it seems to me that hiring a full band is a much safer bet than going with a Musician, at least for a crowd in California. Don't get me wrong, I think Musicians can be great, but I simply have no idea how people would react to that vibe.
I attended a gala once where they had a Musician performing—though, to be fair, that was held in Washington, D.C. They played quite well, certainly, but that specific sense of high-energy excitement just wasn't there. Perhaps that was down to the guests themselves, but one cannot deny that the music plays a massive role in the atmosphere.

As for the Pink Panther, I haven't had any personal experience with them, but I have only ever heard positive reviews.
In any case, I believe you made the right call. 👍

We actually hired both a band and a folk ensemble, and honestly, it turned out to be the perfect combination. 👍
The folk musicians were there during the more intimate moments—when we were moving around or visiting his place—and later, when everyone moved to the main hall, both groups performed. The folk musicians would move from table to table while the band took their breaks. We received nothing but enthusiastic reactions from the guests.
It is a bit more expensive, I suppose, but I would recommend it if you want a true show. 😍

Oh, please. As if we really need her lecturing us. And honestly, you must have been typing through sheer frustration to even put that sentence together. Tell me, what exactly was the purpose of that comment?

To be clear, I also believe someone should probably educate themselves before engaging in sexual activity, but that can be expressed politely and with actual arguments. You don't have to just swoop in and insult her intelligence before walking away. It’s certainly the easiest way to go about it, I suppose. 🙄

goldenbadger33, it’s finally Friday 😉. Well, Katy Perry, you know exactly what needs to be done!

how late are you already?

By that logic, someone could just as easily tell you not to reply when you can't read. 🙄
She's five days late.

Katy Perry, since you're already quite a few days behind, I'd suggest heading over to a CVS or Walgreens to pick up a test. It doesn't need to be some high-end brand; even a basic one should work fine, as enough time has likely passed since ovulation for any standard test to be accurate. Just wait until tomorrow morning and use your first urine sample, following the instructions on the box exactly. Best of luck!

Raymond Brooks7 said:They don't have the same lead singer anymore... but the new one is just as talented (the original is on maternity leave), and since the current vocalist is actually an ex-member of Bad Company... let's just say the girl can really sing.

Ah, I see! I wasn't aware, but I imagine she's fantastic given that I've heard such great things about Bad Company 👍

Are you guys located somewhere around the Southern California area?
Sandra Lopez2 said:I love seeing comments like these. 😍
If only we had booked them first. 🙏

There isn't much to worry about; they'll likely throw quite a party. 👍
And, if I may ask, what was the final damage to the wallet?
Alexander Ruiz2 said:Visa played ours too, they're fantastic!!! 🙏🙏🙏
I definitely agree with the bold part!
No amount of flowers, cakes, food, tablecloths, or centerpieces is going to entertain a crowd like a great band does. They played stuff that I personally barely even listen to, but man, it was incredible...😉

The real kicker is that beyond being phenomenal musicians, they are incredibly professional. We provided them with a very specific song list and requested certain cues for specific moments—like the bouquet toss and such—and they followed our timeline to the letter. They were truly brilliant! 🙏
And the lead singer has such a stunning voice, doesn't she? I still get goosebumps just thinking about some of those performances! 👍
Jeremy Wilson5 said:The last I heard, the figure was actually closer to $2,300.

So, if we look at 😂
it seems the only thing one can say with any certainty is that the price likely falls somewhere in the $2,400 to $2,700 range.😛
Thomas Sanchez532 said:They usually run a bit more than $5000, right now the going rate is about $2,500

Well, I suppose that's possible. 🤷
Back when we were performing (around November 2007), they had already announced that prices would climb in 2008, projecting a cost of roughly $2,200. It's possible they adjust their pricing on an annual basis? 🤣
Austin Sanchez9 said:Jerry Sanchez53, I am in agreement with you. Viva does an exceptional job, though their services are perhaps a bit beyond my current budget.

Well, I suppose $5000 it’s certainly not a small amount, by any means... though if you can manage to set the money aside or perhaps cut back on something else, the difference in quality might be worth it.
As for another band, I would suggest Major League—they played at my brother-in-law's place and I thought they were 👍 quite good, plus they are about half the price. 😉
Alex Carter3 said:I know, I know. I thought the exact same thing before I headed out to the pier where they were playing.😉

Viva actually played at our celebration last year—they were $1,500 back then. THEY ARE WORTH EVERY PENNY! 🙏 I don't want this to sound like I'm just bragging, but even now, people still talk about how we had the best band ever. As far as I know, they've bumped their price up to $2,200 now because they're so heavily booked.
These guys are true professionals—everything from the music to the gear is top-tier. They even bring that fog machine effect for the first dance. Honestly, I wouldn't skimp on the music; it's pretty much 90% of the entire vibe👍
vividotter4 said:Just some pale, washed-out version of a plus... I don't even know anymore... strange... she could probably use a little more Gin & Tonic. 🙂

Regardless, a win is a win! Congratulations! 👍
