Help me out here! I’m currently sipping on some Yaz—and it just hit me that I totally missed my pill on Wednesday. I caught up and took it on Thursday, but then I went and missed again yesterday, Friday. What should I do? I can't exactly call or drop by my OBGYN right now... there was nothing in my instructions about what to do if I mess up like this. Does anyone know the drill, or could someone please call their doctor and ask for me? Please, I'm freaking out.

If you're going through insurance—go see Rajko Kordić, he's like the gold standard. Or honestly, anyone over at Rebro would be solid too.

I’m guessing you’ve got some pain there—maybe some clicking or popping or something? If you're hanging around Washington, D.C., I'd say head over to the main hospital building on the right side; they've got some top-tier bone specialists over there.

🙂

Dr. Sokol, my advice? First, grab a referral and head to your local community health center—maybe one over in the Chicago area—for an initial checkup. From there, they’ll likely suggest some treatments, usually about once a month, which are basically $83

She’s dealing with PCOS, her hormones are all over the place, and she's actually losing hair because of it... It's been tough. I would be so grateful for any recommendations you might have. Thanks!

Ideally somewhere with really professional staff—you know, places where people actually had a positive experience and felt they were seeing great doctors...
thanks 🙂

Honestly, just go see an ophthalmologist through your primary care referral—use your insurance and get a formal referral sent over.

I'm currently studying in New York and I really need to get registered with a doctor—but honestly, I'm feeling a bit lost on the whole process. Does anyone know the drill on what paperwork I actually need to pull together to get set up? Thanks a bunch!😉

I'd say try this: just find a local clinic or community health center that's close to where you're living, swing by there, and ask if they can take you on as a patient. After that, you'll probably have to head over to the Social Security Administration or a similar government office to get your coverage verified or whatever.div>

budget-conscious mess like me!!! Plus, it means I don't have to go out and take out a massive loan just to get my teeth fixed!

My dentist is actually wonderful—and she isn't even in private practice. She really gets that I'm sensitive to pain, and whenever I ask her to give me some extra 👍

Adam Castillo47 said:So, I’ve got a question, and honestly, I’m not even sure if this is the right spot to ask it. I have this massive, paralyzing fear of eye doctors and dental work—basically because my pain tolerance is pretty much non-existent. It’s been a few years since I last sat in a dentist's chair, and my teeth are starting to get into some real trouble... though there's still hope if I jump on this soon! I was wondering, is it actually possible to take something like a sedative or a pill beforehand? And does it actually do anything?😬

I doubt it would do much, personally. Honestly, I think the only thing that really works is just getting the local anesthesia so you don't feel a thing—assuming you aren't terrified of needles! :P I had to get one when I had a wisdom tooth pulled, and the pinch is way less intense than the actual drilling part, probably just because the injection only takes about 20 seconds.

I actually went to see the specialist over at the Mayo Clinic twice—once back in July and again in October—and everything checked out fine

Honestly, I'm not entirely sure... but hey, check out this link and read my old thread there. There are plenty of other folks dealing with similar issues too

Ronald Richardson6 said:Hey everyone, hope you're all doing okay—I could really use some help here.
I know this might be slightly off-topic, but I’m honestly getting pretty worried about my health.
Here's the situation:
For quite a while now, I've been dealing with these strange dizzy spells—they feel a bit odd—but they mostly kick in when I'm moving around or actually working. I also get this weird sensation in my left arm and leg, though the actual feeling and motor skills seem totally fine.
My blood pressure keeps fluctuating, so I'm taking Norvasc and Ampril, but nothing seems to be touching it.
I've got constant pressure in my head, a pulsing sensation, and I'm always feeling weak and nauseous.
On top of all that, there's this spot constantly hovering in my right field of vision.
I've gone through a mountain of tests and scans, but everything comes back normal—yet this has been going on for seven months straight.
Please, if anyone has any advice at all, I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks.

So, you have a permanent blind spot in your vision? When was the last time you went in for testing? Have you had a CT scan or an MRI yet?

This might not be the absolute best place to ask, but we do have specific threads dedicated to vertigo, headaches, and related illnesses.

I’ve been seeing Dr. Ujević over at the local dental clinic—it’s honestly such a great experience. I am super happy with her work! Seriously, if you have any questions about her or just want the scoop on how things went, just ask away—I don't mind one bit. 😉

Amanda Sanders44 said:A first appointment costs around $67?? My skin isn't exactly a disaster zone, so that feels a little steep to me... but hey, thanks for the heads-up anyway...😉

Look, like I mentioned before—your best bet is to grab a referral from your local community health center first; if you go through them, it’ll be totally covered by Medicare. After that, you can look into specific treatments which usually run about $250. Honestly, I've seen plenty of dermatologists all over the country, and for most of them, a facial treatment is right around $83!

Brenda Reyes said:I’m looking for a solid dentist—specifically an oral surgeon who can pull some wisdom teeth. Honestly, I’m terrified, so if you know someone who’s actually good at calming patients down and handling that anxiety...
Do you know anyone like that in Washington, D.C.?

I actually went to them to get two of my wisdom teeth pulled—honestly, there's nothing to fear! They make the whole thing super quick and painless, and they’re really gentle when they give you the injection. You’ll definitely feel some soreness afterward—you should probably have some Advil ready to go—but I’d totally recommend them!

Amanda Sanders44 said:Yeah, I’ve actually heard of her before... and someone mentioned on another thread that she finally opened her own private practice! Thanks for the heads-up.

Right, so that private office is pretty close to the suburbs—it's an easy bus ride if you don't want to drive, but if you do take the car, they've got plenty of parking right in the driveway. The treatment itself is $83, and I'm pretty sure the initial consultation is the same deal. You could probably just use your Medicare referral for the first visit, but you'd have to go through the local community health center in the city first, and then they'd eventually schedule you in for the actual 👍 sessions.

I’d personally suggest seeing Dr. sokol—my skin actually cleared up thanks to her treatments and the specific creams she put me on. Honestly though, I don't think anyone can ever point to one single "true" cause for acne... believe me on that one. It hits everyone—the buff guys, the skinny people, those dealing with hormonal shifts, and those who aren't. Some people live on sugar and others don't touch it; some are totally stressed out and others are chill. There are just so many different factors at play. I’ve seen several dermatologists myself, and nobody could ever give me a definitive answer on the root cause. At the end of the day, the most important thing is finding a doctor who can accurately identify your specific skin type.
Hormonal Contraception: The Pill [General Discussion] in Women's Health ·
urbanharbor13 said:Hi there.
I have a problem/question.
Last month, my gynecologist wrote me a prescription for Logest because I wanted to start on birth control pills.
After taking them for about a week, I started having stomach pains and cramps. I thought it might be some kind of inflammation, so I went to see a different gynecologist since mine wasn't available. He did an ultrasound, and everything looked fine.
I thought maybe it was something with my bladder, so I went for tests, but those also came back normal.
The pain lasted until I finished the entire pack and got my period.

I started the second pack ten days ago, but the pain returned a couple of days ago. I’ve stopped taking them for now. I don't have an appointment with my gynecologist until Wednesday, so I wanted to ask for your opinions—has anyone else dealt with similar issues?

I'm not on Logest myself, but those stomach pains could definitely be a side effect of that specific pill. Have you had a chance to check the fine print in the medication guide yet?
Anesthesia, Resuscitation, and ICU: Q&A in Health ·
So, I survived my first anesthesia experience too! From what the anesthesiologist told me, they gave me Propofol to start things off, and man, I was out like a light. But when I started coming around, it was scary—I couldn't hear or see anything, just felt this intense sensation of being hit hard in the back and feeling like they were sucking blood up through my throat. I remember desperately trying to take a breath, but nothing was happening; I honestly thought I was going to suffocate. Once they finally rolled me onto my side, I could breathe again, though it was such a struggle, and I tried so hard to swallow that mucus in my throat, but it just wouldn't go down. They moved me to the ICU for a bit just to make sure my breathing stabilized and I was fully conscious. It wasn't until I threw up that things finally cleared up—about ten minutes later, I was okay. So, I'm wondering, was there a specific issue there, or is this just a normal thing? [/QUOTE
]

I actually had some pretty similar "symptoms" when I was waking up from anesthesia, so in my opinion, what you went through sounds totally normal. You had that tube in your throat—just like I did—and it made breathing and swallowing feel impossible. I was dying for a sip of water, but of course, they couldn't let me have any. My memory is a bit fuzzy at first; I just remember being transferred from one bed to another, then everything gets blurry, then it comes back... it’s all part of the process. It’s normal, really, because the anesthesia just takes its time letting go of you.
I'm looking for a solid dentist and maybe a prosthodontist around the Washington, D.C. area.. Feel free to shoot me a DM, but could you guys please let me know what the going rates are for fillings, extractions, or root canals with those doctors?
I honestly have no clue what the standard prices look like, and I definitely can't afford to drop $333 on every single tooth..

They’re private, but things like wisdom tooth extractions can usually be covered by insurance, whereas other stuff is out-of-pocket. They're pretty good, though. Check their website for pricing—if it isn't listed, just give them a call.
