Larry Lewis said:I’ve been sitting here thinking about this—and honestly, life is just one long series of questionable decisions—but I’ve been taking 3mg of Risperdal every single night for about six months now. And, if I’m being totally honest, my headspace has actually improved quite a bit... which is a miracle in itself, given the general state of the world. I didn't exactly get it through the traditional, bureaucratic channels—you know how the healthcare system here can be a total nightmare of red tape and endless paperwork—but I managed to track it down and secure it myself because, frankly, I was already using it and knew I needed it. It's a strange way to navigate things, I know, but sometimes you just have to take matters into your own hands.
It was about ten years ago—just a fleeting moment in the grand scheme of things, really—but I distinctly recall feeling... well, alright. It’s strange how the mind works, isn't it? One minute you're drifting through the fog of time, and the next, a memory surfaces—vivid, clear, and surprisingly pleasant. Back then, life felt manageable—actually, it felt good. I remember it clearly, even if the details have since blurred around the edges like an old photograph left out in the sun.
I’m really not one to second-guess a medical professional—I mean, they spent years in school for a reason, right?—so I won't weigh in on what your doctor is suggesting, but let's assume the guy actually knows his stuff.
Look, it doesn't cost you a dime to give it a shot—I mean, if it doesn't work out, what's the harm? Why not? I’m telling you, it made a massive difference for me.

P.S.—I can’t say I experienced any side effects from it—none at all. Truly.

It seems like that medication is actually quite old.

Gregory Alvarez83 said:Has anyone here actually managed to wean themselves off these types of pills—or even break away from their psychiatrist entirely?
I’ve seen a few different doctors, and honestly, my impression is that they just exploit the situation by endlessly renewing prescriptions.
I’ve been on Xanax for about 4 or 5 years now, usually taking between 2 and 4 mg.
I want to get off this stuff so badly, but I just can't. It’s absolute hell when I miss a dose.
Does anyone have experience using herbal remedies, maybe some St. John's Wort or something similar, just to help me stop the Xanax? I feel like a total addict.
How did I end up becoming so dependent on Xanax?!!?

Well, my friend, welcome to the club.🙂
I mean, it’s easy to say how great those Elon Musks felt, isn't it? No one can tell you otherwise because you're so relaxed—everything feels fine until... well, once you're hooked, it gets ugly, and you really have to figure out a way out. Honestly, the withdrawal from this stuff is worse than heroin, if you ask me, and it absolutely shreds your nervous system.
If you want, I could show you a video on YouTube of someone who went cold turkey... but ugh, it’s so nauseating I think I'll pass.

Look... maybe try my approach, because I was stuck in that same loop and eventually managed to get clean. The real issue is that most people don't realize how addictive it is, so whenever I talked to doctors, they just looked at me like I was crazy with their little questionnaires.

The way I handled it was by tapering down by 1mg every single week until I hit zero; it took me about six months. It’s a grueling process, I won't lie, but it worked.
I know it sounds like a long haul... and please, don't even ask me how much I used to take myself.😁 🤣
But if you think you're strong enough, you could try dropping 2mg a week... good luck to you.

I’ve been scrolling through these forums for ages, but I just can't seem to find even a single thread discussing Risperdal, or risset
.

One psychiatrist I spoke with suggested that I should switch entirely to this one medication and ditch everything else I’ve been taking 😕. His plan was for me to take just one 2mg tablet of Risperdal in the morning and two at night, and that would be the end of it. 😕

I suppose I just don't quite grasp how he can act like this "magic" Risperdal is some kind of silver bullet that will fix everything overnight.

Has anyone here actually tried this medication?

I'm heading over to see Dr. Mandelson today; I suppose I'm just hoping he might be able to offer some sort of relief

aaaaawesome... 🙏

Honestly, Misar is just struggling. I mean, maybe try some 1mg Xanax or even 1mg Helix yourself, then you'll really see what's what.🙂

I suppose it's unlikely that everyone is on Zyprexa, right??

Psychotropic medication discussion.

I was wondering if anyone here is currently taking or perhaps has experience with Seroquel XR?
Psychotropic medication discussion thread in Psychology & Therapy ·
I personally never have any dreams, and if you ask me, I'd say that’s probably for the best. 🙂
What would I even do with dreams? I just want to get some actual sleep!🙂
Psychotropic medication discussion thread in Psychology & Therapy ·
My recent psychiatrist decided to put me on Seroquel XR 300, which I'm supposed to take right before heading to bed. The goal is to help manage some of the psychosis I've been dealing with lately.
I've actually taken regular Seroquel before, and even then, I always felt like it hit me pretty hard.
But now I’ve been given this XR version, which is designed to release gradually over a 24-hour period.

Has anyone else here tried this specific formulation? Because when the side effects kick in, I can barely stay upright—I honestly just have to crash and sleep.🤣

Timothy Wood38 said:That's pretty much what the fine print says for most SSRIs, too. But see, Effexor is a bit of an outlier—it belongs to the SNRI class along with Cymbalta, which means it hits both serotonin and norepinephrine. You can't really rank antidepressants by "strength" in a straight line. What works for one person might do absolutely nothing for someone else. Right now, I'm just on Lexapro 20mg; they say it's the "cleanest" option because it's so selective, so it tends to kick in faster than others, but that doesn't necessarily make it the superior choice. It all comes down to individual chemistry. Honestly, Lexapro is probably the most prescribed antidepressant in the USA right now.

You phrased that quite well. Dr. Sakoman once mentioned to me that Lexapro 20mg and Zoloft 40mg are the most commonly prescribed options here in the States.
It’s clear you’ve got some experience and insight under your belt; honestly, that’s the kind of person I’d love to 😍

@rejo (rejo, don't make it look like I'm throwing myself at him right away😁) since he's kind of my crush🙂

Timothy Wood38 said:Well, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but 🙂 There’s no such thing as the "strongest" antidepressant out there. Period. I was on Effexor XR 150 mg myself and honestly? It did absolutely nothing for me. I couldn't even feel it working.

But the manual specifically states that Effexor is classified among the more potent options for treating major depressive disorder...
I mean, how is it even possible that you didn't feel anything at all while taking 150 mg??

So, what are you on now? Paxil?

And is anyone actually taking Seroquel?

fadedbear92 Quote:
Look, 75 mg is just the starting dose, so don't go treating 150 mg like some kind of absolute catastrophe.🙂
Actually, I believe there's also a 37.5 mg option available, which serves as the starting dose.🙂

I’m currently on a regimen of Zoloft, Lexapro, and Effexor XR—which I suppose is essentially just Effexor, though this specific version is a much more affordable brand manufactured by Pfizer rather than some overpriced name-brand option.

I can't help but wonder if 150mg of Effexor daily is perhaps pushing things a bit too far? I suppose I should ask those of you who have been through this—has anyone else ever had to manage such a high dosage?

Timothy Wood38 said:Thanks for the encouragement. Anyway, how are things with you? How's your cocktail of meds treating you? I'm still a total skeptic about this Lexapro, even though I've only been on it for two weeks. Honestly, I haven't found a single antidepressant that actually works for me yet... I've cycled through Prozac, Paxil, Effexor, and Wellbutrin. Maybe, just maybe, Lexapro will actually pull off some kind of miracle.🤷

It seems to be working quite well for me, particularly the combination of Lexapro and Zeldox. That Effexor XR at 75mg is actually one of the more potent options out there, and my doctor is actually increasing my dose to 150mg tomorrow morning.
I just hope the adjustment doesn't hit me too hard. 🙄
As for me, I guess the Lexapro didn't really start kicking in until about a month and a half in. You might just need to hang in there and give it some time.

Timothy Wood38 said:So, I finally called it quits on the Sanofi last night. Honestly? I never want to touch that garbage ever again. I tried playing it safe to get some sleep—just a 10 mg Norma and 1.5 mg Xanax—but obviously, that did absolutely nothing. Not a wink. It wasn't until I bumped it up to 50 mg of Norma and 3.5 mg of Xanax that things actually shifted. Tomorrow I’m starting on Dormicum, so we'll see how that goes. Hopefully, it actually knocks me out, because if not, I'll probably just end up back at those massive doses of Norma and Xanax tonight. Look, I’m fully aware that I'm hooked on benzos, and frankly, I couldn't care less. If I have to pop them for the rest of my life, or if they eventually kill me... well, whatever. I suppose I'm just wired that way—pretty self-destructive, really. My health isn't exactly my top priority right now; if anything, the worse it gets, the better.

That’s the way to do it; toss that Sanofi in the trash because it's useless! Believe me, Dormicum should put you right under immediately, though you really need to head straight to bed once you take it, or it won't even work.
Good luck with everything. 5 Normabel?🤣 Please, don't do that... maybe just one or two Dormicum and you'll be set.👍

I have a friend who struggles with depression just like I do, though he also deals with manic episodes. He’s currently on Zyprexa; he tells me it works well enough for him, but the weight gain has been a real issue.
He was taking Zeldox before—which is actually what I’m on right now—but it just didn't seem to do much for him.

I suppose I'm wondering, in your experience, which medication tends to be more effective for managing depression?

Timothy Wood38 said:Valium is actually quite specific since it isn't part of the benzodiazepine group. And yes, my shrink monitors everything I'm on, plus I go to psychotherapy sessions regularly. My shrink says I'm practically an alien because my body reacts so hypersensitively to medication. Honestly, I'm getting pretty sick of Valium. I'm seeing my doctor this Thursday and I'm going to suggest switching to Dormicum or Flurazepam instead of Valium.

My sleep specialist only ever prescribes Dormicum for me, mostly because it's the only thing that actually puts me under. Valium is just way too weak for my liking!

Timothy Wood38 said:Hey everyone, just thought I’d check in and give you all an update on my new regimen:
Lexapro 1x20mg
Eglonyl 3x200mg
Zyprexa 1x10mg
Valium 1x50mg
Xanax 1x1.5mg
Normabel 3x10mg

So, I actually went cold turkey on the Paxil—just stopped everything at once without tapering—and honestly? Nothing. No side effects whatsoever, even though I was on 60 mg a day. I suppose I just have one of those weird bodies where things don't react the way they're supposed to... which is its own kind of frustrating, really. It leaves me sitting here trying to convince myself that if I'm not feeling any side effects, then maybe the meds aren't even working. I've started the Lexapro at 20 mg a day too, and again, absolutely zero side effects. To be perfectly honest, I can't even tell if the switch from Paxil to Lexapro has made a dent in anything; I feel like I'm still dealing with pretty much all the same BPD symptoms.

I don't know, I guess I'm a bit worried about what that much Xanax combined with Normabel, plus Valium at night, will do to you; you might end up sleeping like a baby with a cocktail that heavy. Personally, I'm on Lexapro too, and I haven't had any side effects either; it seems to have settled in quite well for me.
Also, what exactly do you mean by the acronym BPD?

I’ve been on Zeldox for about a month now... and there was this one night where I completely blanked on taking my evening dose. I just couldn't get to sleep; it wasn't even that I felt restless, per se, but there was this persistent, nagging craving for it that I can't quite put into words. It was more like a deep, hollow necessity. Then, around 2:00 AM, it finally clicked—I realized I’d missed my dose. I ended up taking the Zeldox right then in the middle of the night, and I was out like a light almost immediately. That craving was something else, I guess. 😁

Harold King8 said:I spent a few months on Mirzaten. I was struggling hard with insomnia, and those depressive thoughts were eating away at me like a tumor. After taking one pill every night for a couple of months, I finally spoke up during my check-up about the side effects—specifically how I suddenly packed on about 45 pounds in just a few months. While the Mirzaten definitely helped me sleep better, the depression itself barely budged, if it helped at all.
My doctor decided to switch me over to Alice, doing it gradually at first by splitting the dose between half a pill of Alice in the morning and half a Mirzaten before bed. Now, I'm strictly on Alice. To be honest, I can't quite put my finger on how it feels, so I'm curious: what is its primary function, how does it actually affect mood regulation, what is it typically prescribed for, and are there any common side effects I should watch out for?
Thanks.
(Also, my liver enzymes were running pretty high, which is an old issue I've been dealing with ever since my injury.)

Best,

I'm also on Alice, and I have to say, it works wonders for me! It’s essentially the gold standard for many people dealing with depression; it's actually the same active ingredient as Cipralex—just a different manufacturer.
