I went into detail about my procedure in some earlier posts if you want to check them out... nothing to worry about! 🙂

So, do they give you anything to take the edge off? Like a sedative or something to help you sleep? I had this minor thing done on my chin ages ago—they were removing a tiny cyst🙄 under local. It wasn't even the pain that got to me; it was hearing that scraping sound against the bone, that screeching... I'm not gonna lie, I nearly lost it. I really don't want to go through that again, especially since this one is going to take a bit longer. Do they at least numb you enough so you aren't hyper-aware? And how do they make sure you don't jump around while they're working? God😲 I can already see this turning into a total comedy of errors...

Thanks—my favorite part has to be the "I'm not even kidding" bit. 😁
I am seriously not in the mood for this local anesthesia...!!! 😱

🙂

Please—just tell me I won’t see, hear, or feel a single thing. Tell me I won't even know where I am or what they're doing to me. Lie to me if you have to 🙂
Megan Wright39 said:Guys, please help! I need some comfort right now... T_T
It's been about 4 or 5 months since my surgery, and I really expected my nose to have shrunk by now—you know, just settling back into its natural shape.
But honestly, it feels like the exact opposite is happening; it actually looks worse than ever. Just for context, I went to a junior surgeon, and he truly did everything he could—removing the hump, lifting the tip, slimming things down. When I first saw myself after the splints came off, my nose looked so much smaller. The tip was tight and compact, but then this "swelling" at the tip started. Now, it literally looks like a potato—all puffy and swollen, which makes it look like it’s drooping. When will this go away??? It's been almost half a year. During my check-up last month, the doctor mentioned I have thicker skin, and that's why... what does that even mean? Does it mean my tip will never settle? I just want it to look the way it did immediately after the procedure!!! I'm feeling pretty discouraged because even though I massage it and follow all the advice, nothing seems to be improving... Has anyone else dealt with this kind of puffy, swollen tip caused by thick skin?!

Honestly, I feel like I'm dealing with something similar... it's been six months for me too, and it feels like it's not even the tip that's swollen, but the middle part of my nose. Or, well, I *hope* it's just swelling and won't stay this big. It also looks like it's drooping downwards😕 though I have thin skin... I don't know, I'm just praying it settles. Looking back, my nose actually changed quite a bit during those three years between my first and second procedures, so I guess that's my only consolation—it should settle eventually...🙂 ...... 🙂
haha, rustygardener172... this totally reminds me of my "summer vacation" just a week after surgery... I was slathering on SPF 50 like crazy, looking like a total snowman—my nose was so swollen it felt two sizes too big for the heat. Then you dive into the water and suddenly forget you aren't supposed to get your nose plugged... ahhh, those were the days.😍I seriously can't wait for them to patch up this damn indentation so I can finally move on from this whole ordeal. Honestly, you guys have become such dear friends to me.🙂
Megan Flores42 said:Hold on a second... is that actually verified, or are you pulling my leg?
Can anyone else weigh in here? Is tanning allowed?

NO
Don't sweat it—everything is going to be just fine! If you're feeling satisfied with the results right now (just ignore the swelling for a bit), things are only going to look even better soon. I noticed immediately that it looks more relaxed than before the procedure, so this isn't a surprise to me at all.
stormycyclist9 said:heheh—I was actually thinking about the profile view :d I have some swelling too, though nothing crazy :d When I mentioned the tip of the nose, I meant it feels hard, woody, and almost swollen... I can't tell if it's going to shrink back down or if it’ll just stay like this. 😁

Oh man, tell me about it. It's been over five months for me now, and it still feels stiff. And yeah, it's drooping too.
(((😢
stormycyclist9 said:Look, I haven't even bruised much—just a tiny bit on my nose, and I'm not really swollen. He told me I was lucky or whatever... I'm just not sure, tell me—the tip of the nose right between the eyes, did yours swell outward there? Because that little "indentation" between my eyes has almost disappeared, so now I'm wondering if you had the same thing happen. If you did, how long did it take to go down?
And the tip of the nose, that little circular part 😁—was yours swollen? It feels like there's cartilage inside, so I'm curious if it stayed the same shape or if it was just swelling 😁
If you could send me some before-and-after photos in my inbox, I’d appreciate it. I'll get mine over to you as soon as I can get to my computer—probably tomorrow. 😁

Hey man, I'd love to help you out, but I honestly have no idea what you're asking me😁
If I understood correctly regarding the area between the eyes... mine swelled up like crazy, but mostly sideways. It went outward too, but not nearly as much. As for that "indentation" you mentioned (I'm assuming you mean the profile, right?), it stayed pretty much the same; my profile didn't really "puff out" that much. It should settle down quickly for you, probably in a day or two. And sorry, I have no clue what you mean by "the circle" at the tip of the nose.🙂 Plus, I don't have any photos of myself while I was swollen. Besides, everyone heals differently, so don't sweat it—it won't last long.
@ stormycyclist9... listen, that swelling between the eyes—mine actually spiraled out of control after my second surgery. Oh man, nothing happened on day one. But day two?! Good God, I couldn't even open my eyes. I looked like I didn't even have eyes! Just this massive swollen nose; everything up there was flat and wide, like an elephant... it was terrifying. I was genuinely scared something would happen to me—I honestly thought the pressure would make my brain pop out through my ears.😂
Anyway, don't freak out if you swell up; it usually subsides within a day or two. And yours probably won't be as intense as mine; I was definitely a bit of a special case. 😁

As for me, I’m getting more and more worried about my tip. I have this feeling that the whole structure is weak—like the cartilage is "too heavy" and is pulling it down. I'm terrified it’ll sag even more over time, and it's only been 5 months. Please, just don't let it drop any further... 🙂
then just go ahead and massage it😁—but honestly, I have no clue. Neither one of them mentioned anything about that to me (and I actually asked the other one! He told me there was no need🤷). If they told you to do it, then just follow their lead and you'll be fine. They didn't even bring up any physiological stuff to me! Just that little spray. Though, back when I was at the Mayo Clinic, I was supposed to get some drops, but they wouldn't give them to me😁 so I ended up just using the spray again. AH
brightotter21 said:I have to take the cast off in a few days—what happens after that? How should I behave? Someone told me I should massage my nose a little.
I'm terrified someone might accidentally bump me—even just a slightly firm touch—and I can't stop worrying that it'll end up crooked...

How do you guys rinse with saline? My nose is full of dried blood, so I assume the congestion is going to haunt me for quite a while.

After both my first and second surgeries, I didn't do—well, nothing. Nobody ever mentioned massages to me, nor lymphatic drainage, nor anything else...🤷 It’s totally normal, like you never even had surgery. My advice? Don't touch it. Just wash your face like you normally would and leave it at that. Seriously, there's nothing special about it—you'll see.🙂 As for bumps, obviously you have to be careful, but just avoid playing ball games or chasing toddlers around during those first few weeks.😁 I actually had an incident—two weeks post-op, a branch fell right on my nose. Straight from the tree to my face. Yeah, it hurt. Then, a month later, this damn mosquito was buzzing around me—so persistent! It felt like it was trying to crawl inside my nose. In a moment of pure frustration, I swatted at my nose! (Luckily, the mosquito flew off unscathed). And yes, that hurt too. But my nose stayed exactly where it was—perfectly straight.😬 As for rinsing, I don't know how everyone else does it, but I just used Hilton Hotels spray—you can pick it up at any pharmacy and just give it a quick spritz. That's really it, and I hope you're happy with the results!🙂
Elizabeth Fox57 said:What really caught my eye about Glusac is his "closed technique"... because from what I’ve read, using the open method means a longer recovery, and you might even end up with those tiny little bumps on the nose??!!! No, seriously—if anyone knows—does the closed technique involve removing part of the skin? I want to slim down and narrow my nose, so wouldn't some skin need to be removed for that?

The skin isn't actually sliced away; rather, it eventually "shrinks" and adapts to the new shape of the nose over time—unless we're talking about an extreme case, which I doubt is your situation. Honestly, I can tell you from firsthand experience. The open technique gives the surgeon more precision since they have a direct line of sight, allowing them to handle specific details much better (depending on what your specific needs are, of course...). On the flip side, the closed technique is great because the swelling goes down faster. HOWEVER—and this is a big however—right after my closed procedure, a bump popped up that has never gone away. Even my doctor couldn't tell me what it was or where it came from.🙄 My recovery was definitely slower (the second time I had surgery, I went with the open technique), and it took quite a while—though that probably wasn't just due to the incision, but other factors involved in my case too. Ultimately, it might be smartest to let whichever surgeon you choose make the call; they know best how to achieve the look you want and the most effective way to get there. Either way, good luck!

Also, did any of you deal with breakouts or blackheads for a long time after the bandages came off? It’s been over a month since my surgery and my nose is just going crazy right now... 😁 The redness, the pimples—it's all just spreading further. It's honestly gross... 😲 I feel like the more I try to cover it up with light powder (that airy, mousse kind), the worse it gets... :/ The swelling hasn't really budged either, and the shape of my nose is slightly changing... but this redness is what's really killing me. Are you guys using anything for this? I used the cream my doctor prescribed a few days ago, and now it feels like my skin has totally lost its mind... 🙄

Don't put anything on your skin. Just wash with clean water and give your skin time to heal—it'll be fine.
rustygardener172 said:steelangler88...you saw mine, right? If not, no biggie—I can send it over again.

hitmjeseca, mine was last Saturday night. I stopped using pads by Sunday afternoon, and then the stitches came out about 6 or 7 days later... honestly, I can barely remember the exact timing. 😁 People say you can get away with just 7 days off, but if I were you, I’d aim for at least 10 to 14. I tried heading back out after 7 days, and while the leaking was minimal, my nose was still pretty swollen... so I ended up staying home from work for another week. I work with kids, so I was terrified of getting bumped—they can be pretty wild sometimes.
Everyone recovers differently, but if you have the option, take those two weeks of "sick leave"—you definitely won't regret it.
If there's anything else you need to know, just ask... I've already been through his procedure, so I can give you some pointers. Good luck!

I haven't seen it, please send it over🙂 I've got another surgery coming up soon, so sorry for being such a pain!🙂
rustygardener172 said:Your nose looks amazing! Seeing such a nice, straight profile makes me regret letting them make mine look so bulbous.😁

I actually started wearing my glasses about ten days later—Dr. Glušac told me I could go ahead as long as they weren't too heavy. Mine were light enough, so there you go...

Hey girls, can someone send me a photo too? thanks
Mine is five months in, and honestly, every single day brings a new symptom or sensation😁—it’s been a complete disaster...🙂
What really throws me for a loop is the recovery process. I’ve gone through two surgeries now, and this recovery feels entirely different from the first one. I can't even begin to predict what kind of changes to expect based on my initial experience. It almost feels like my nose is shifting more every day rather than settling down.😕Ma, don't let it get to you.🙂
I actually had surgery—maxillofacial stuff
@Ashley Gomez/">@@Ashley Gomez thanks🙂
Chloe Cox90 said:Thanks for getting back to me. Honestly, I’m terrified that something might go wrong during surgery—I know general anesthesia can be sketchy. I've only ever had one surgery in my life (an appendix removal), and even then, I know even "routine" procedures aren't exactly harmless; it took me a solid 10 days to recover... With rhinoplasty, I'm especially nervous because I see people on this forum saying you won't see the final result for six months to a year (!) and that some girls ended up with a bump in their nose (?) Does that depend on your nose type or what? My nose is slightly crooked/asymmetrical and has that typical Caucasian hump, plus the tip droops a bit (though it's not an aquiline type). My nose is also naturally high, so I assume I'll never have that cute button nose look. Is there anyone here with a similar nose shape who would be willing to swap photos?
As far as money goes, I could probably save about $1,200 over the next year, but I'm not sure if that's enough since some price lists I've seen are way higher than that. I'd much rather go to someone who specializes in this rather than a public hospital—the thought of those places gives me the creeps, and from my own experience (and what people I know have said), the staff can be incredibly rude.

Look, it doesn't have to be that way. I had my first procedure done privately (for $1,100 $0.00) and it was an absolute disaster. I ended up having my second one at a hospital (covered by insurance) because I was left with internal deformities, and it turned out great. I still have some things to fix from the first surgery, but the result is miles better. Hats off to the doctor in every way, and the staff was wonderful to me. Long story short: if you decide to do this, do your homework. Research, read up, go to consultations, etc. Pay close attention to negative experiences, because some plastic surgeons are seriously mediocre at what they do. Unfortunately, I learned that the hard way. As for the surgery itself, don't be scared—recovery isn't painful or long, and if you trust your surgeon, you really shouldn't worry.
I’m reporting some major progress in my recovery. The swelling is finally going down, and my nose is actually starting to look great. I still have the surgery scheduled for eleven months from now, but I am honestly so happy with how things turned out so far!!! Just wanted to share a little win.😁
