Look, you can definitely head to the beach—don't stress it. Two weeks out, you should be able to walk around comfortably, and by then, those bruises should have mostly faded. As for the sun, obviously, you aren't going to bake out there all day; just slather on some high SPF, stay in the shade, and you’ll be fine. The heat might make the swelling linger a little longer, but honestly, it’s not a huge deal. I was at the coast just two weeks after my first op and had zero issues—I even went hiking up in the mountains two weeks after my second one, during a windstorm I've never experienced before (though I was a bit more swollen back then😁). Seriously, go to the beach. There's no reason to lock yourself indoors until the end of summer just because you haven't fully recovered yet

And the tip of my nose feels totally numb.

Ugh, that’s probably just from the blood; for me, that was honestly the absolute worst part. That metallic scent was so intense it actually made me feel lightheaded quite often. It should clear up in a few days, though—just try rinsing your nose with some Aqua Maris spray to wash it all out sooner.
Overall, I’m pretty happy with him—honestly, I couldn't be more satisfied given everything I went through before. It's just that damn tip that's weighing on my mind; it feels like it's still settling or shifting, and I have no idea when it'll actually stabilize. Naturally, I'm anxious about it because my first Reoperation was an absolute nightmare. Instead of things getting better over time, they just kept getting worse. And I'm not talking about "all in my head" either—it was physical, real pain. After an experience like that, well, you learn to be extremely cautious...
Look, I’ve been a difficult case from day one—my situation was pretty messy to begin with (congenital issues, missing cartilage in certain spots, a deviated septum, soft tissue tumors, and all that good stuff). In my opinion, the surgery itself was handled well, though there’s likely a lot of work ahead to get everything properly aligned—especially considering the first surgery was only half-baked. Besides, you really can't tell how things will settle until some time has passed. I haven't noticed any massive changes yet, but as for what happened to the tip... I'm not sure; they probably had to adjust something because of that cartilage issue.🤷It's a bit of a bummer. I'm feeling a little anxious now, but I'm trying to believe everything will turn out fine.
stormyharbor2 said:He told me the angle was 90 degrees too, but it looks lower than what steelangler88 had. 🤔

Are you sure about that? If you needed a second surgery just to fix that specific issue, he definitely cut that muscle above the lip—in which case, you shouldn't be seeing any movement at all. 🤷

No, I actually had that handled during my FIRST surgery. See, my original nose used to drop significantly whenever I smiled, so my first surgeon resected that muscle and everything was fine. This time around, I went back to address other issues left over from the first one, but it seems like the doctor did SOMETHING because now the tip has dropped even further (it was lower than after the first op, where it sat at about 100 degrees and the tip stayed steady while I talked or laughed), and now after this second surgery, the tip has slumped and the whole thing feels... "overly elastic"? I don't even know how to describe it. Basically, it’s right back to how it was before the very first operation, as if everything was reset to zero, and I have absolutely no clue why. Honestly, I'm losing my mind—I'm just spinning in circles here. I'll grill him about it during my follow-up in a few months. I was already told I'd need another procedure anyway, so I'm just hoping that this next one (yes, my THIRD!!) finally fixes everything once and for all. That'll be the last time, no matter what happens.🙏
rustygardener172 said:steelangler88, you’re doing great. Honestly, you're just scaring yourself for no reason. You know perfectly well that when they go in through an open rhinoplasty, the recovery takes at least twice as long as a closed one. Plus, your procedure was different—tissue needs actual time to heal and settle. From what I can see in the photos, your tip still looks pretty swollen. And that nasal angle? It's sitting right at 90 degrees... which is basically ideal. I have no clue why you think it looks droopy!

Yeah, the angle is about 90 degrees—but the second I start laughing, my whole face just drops and my nose feels like it’s sagging straight down.😠 So, things have started shifting over the last three or four days—it looks like the swelling is finally starting to go down. But honestly? It feels like there’s just no structural support left. It's weird; it feels almost rubbery, like it's just twisting around. Anyway, my whole face just sags whenever I laugh (exactly how it felt before my first surgery... and let's not forget that first one was already dealt with!). The puffiness in the lower area just makes the whole thing look even worse. To be honest, the fact that this "recovery" phase is only just beginning actually scares me—if this is what it looks like now, God knows how it's going to look once everything fully settles down.
Alright, ladies. Thanks. Honestly, I’m a bit lost—it looks even more uneven than it does in the photos. I’m just holding out hope that the lower section will tighten up eventually. It's really throwing me off because my recovery from the first surgery was completely different. Given that I’ve dealt with disastrous results before—like those lumps that pop up after two months and just refuse to go away—I can't help but be anxious. As for the drains, the nose taping, and all that post-op stuff, I assume if our doctors thought we needed them, they would have mentioned it... things will settle when they settle, I guess, but the waiting is absolutely killing me mentally.☕
No one else seems to have mentioned drainage... how does that even work, anyway? And who’s actually responsible for handling it?
stormyharbor2 said:It's been over six months... But what was the first surgery? I haven't really followed this thread. It actually seems like our noses have a similar shape, though mine is larger, with wider nostrils.

It isn't bigger—don't worry, it couldn't possibly be bigger than this one.😂
In the photos, it looks even smaller than it actually is; honestly, it’s huge.😢
The first time was a septoplasty (my septum was deviated, though not severely) and I had a very wide nasal bridge (wider than the base) along with a small bump on top. Back then, they just shaved down the bump and narrowed the bridge slightly—and that was it. But the job was done either halfway or just sloppily, because my nose was extremely asymmetrical and I ended up with this indentation at the bridge that wasn't there before... plus, my septum stayed crooked... I had two completely different profiles; one side looked straight and long, while the other had a dip at the top and a bump at the bottom. Honestly, what can I even say? On my second surgery, they fixed that bridge issue, so now both sides are more even (for example), though that upper indentation remains—but that will be fixed, so I'm not worried about it. My only concern is that it feels like my nose has started to drop😢 and the lower part looks way too large compared to the upper portion... they used grafts because I was born without cartilage in one section, but the whole thing still feels strange to me.😢 They did fix the septum so I can finally breathe properly—thank God. But I am genuinely terrified of how this will all turn out, because while the bridge looks great since it's being reduced, the supratip looks like a balloon.
And yeah, one of my nostrils is larger too, but that's on the other side of my profile, so you only see the "good" side, haha.
stormyharbor2, how long has it been since your last OP? After my first one, I didn't see much of a drop, but the second was pretty much spot on... honestly, I have no clue what's actually going on right now.
So....
here's one headshot

and a second headshot (an even bigger disaster)
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images...rofilnovi.jpg/

and then the full profile shot
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images...rofilnovi.jpg/

The sizing is driving me absolutely insane—especially that second headshot.😢
Anyway, I'm curious—has anyone else dealt with this? And if so, how did you end up fixing it?
It’s not actually wider. From the front, it looks great. But these half-profiles? They are HORRENDOUS. The bottom half of my nose looks massive compared to the top—on both sides. As for the profile view, it's just okay, but those half-profiles are huge😕. Plus, the tip has dropped quite a bit, which is driving me crazy. Overall, it feels much larger than before my surgery; even though this was my second procedure—I had grafts used and it was an open rhinoplasty—it still feels like too much swelling, and I'm honestly worried it isn't just the inflammation😢
Help!! It’s been about two and a half months since my surgery. My lower nose looks like it’s "two or three sizes" larger than the upper part. Has anyone else dealt with this—did things eventually settle down and even out over time? I noticed a few of you mentioned having a rounded tip, but was it JUST the tip, or did the entire lower section (the supratip) look like that too?
I had my procedure about three years ago, but my results weren't nearly as dramatic as yours, so I can't really give you a fair comparison. :/
I’m just going to vent!!😠
My tip has dropped SO much. I actually have a third surgery already on the books for a different little issue—scheduled sometime this winter—but I am seriously stressing over this stupid tip. And the width of my base? I honestly have no idea what to do, so I’m just here to complain a bit.😢
So, how are you guys doing with the sutures? It’s been 7 weeks since my surgery, and I can feel one in my nose—but it just won't come out. 🤷 I'm asking because after my first procedure, they all just fell out on their own within a few weeks, but these ones aren't budging... and honestly, it's driving me crazy.
Haha, come on—send those shots of Maria Hall92 and Sophia Booth35 my way too. I’m dying to see how yours turned out.😉
I'm slowly just accepting my fate with this mustache—and I've already got a third surgery scheduled for the end of the year... I am seriously a lost cause.😢
Girls, just letting you know I am officially jealous.😍

It’s been five weeks for me and I'm still in a total mess... two surgeries later and I have absolutely nothing to show for it! People have even started teasing me—saying I change my nose more often than my hairstyle...
But seriously, I honestly don't get why it turns out so terrible every single time. 😢
Right now, I look like a giant toucan!😂
Maria Hall92.... 👍
Maria Hall92 said:That’s some solid thinking🙂—exactly how it should be. If only everyone approached things this way... honestly, though? I’d happily trade those genes away in a heartbeat. 🤣I really wouldn't miss them at all.😁 hahaha

Ugh, me too!😁 No matter how much work he needed—and let’s face it, he probably still does—I’m just relieved that potato is an ex now!! 😂As for the new one, I'll figure out a solution eventually.

Look, getting surgery isn't the issue.
The real challenge is finding a surgeon with actual integrity😢—someone who will assess the situation and REFUSE to operate if they don't think they can deliver, rather than just taking your money and "winging it" because they aren't sure what they're doing. They'll tell you your nose is a "unique case," then claim the result is "perfect" when, in reality, it’s a total disaster—all because they used the exact same technique that worked for everyone else.🙄 Respect to the exceptions, though; they seem to be getting harder to find these days.
rustygardener172 said:The tip will drop just a little more, which should help slim down the whole nose. If you feel like it’s too big right now, don't panic... but if you honestly feel like it’s massive—like, taking up half your face—then maybe worry. Because that's how it stays. That kind of "size" is usually obvious immediately after surgery.
But you already know that... and this is your second procedure, after all. 😉 One month is way too soon to be panicking... you're going to have to be patient. Honestly, I think the waiting is the hardest part of the whole process. 😂

Ugh, it's awful—it looks different every single day.🙄 Yeah, it is pretty big, but hey, if even just the tip and the middle section slim down, it'll be fine. Honestly, after everything I've been through, it turned out great... I'm just praying my doctor doesn't tell me I need another revision.😱
I'm worried about how the skin is sticking (if that's even what's happening) and it feels like one of the grafts is "poking out." But whatever, at least this time I was properly patched up 🙄 before things went crazy.
