The Republican Party has already cleaned us out anyway, so there isn't much left to take.

What a complete moron 🤦 Honestly, even a toddler wouldn't say something that incredibly dense! The Republican Party is only just now reaping the rewards of decades of holding onto power—they basically gutted the entire system and now they're sitting there acting like they own the place.

I honestly feel for you.

As for that software, I honestly have no clue how to install it. It lists all these steps you're supposed to take, but I don't even know where I'm meant to enter any of this stuff. :/

ironcyclist58, Willow I just tried everything, and it's the same story. I've got options for 720P 30FPS, 1080P 30FPS, 1080P 60FPS, and 4K 30FPS, but not a single one works. VLC Media Player only plays the audio and treats it like an audio file when I open it. VLC Media Player managed to trigger the 720P 30FPS setting, but the video is covered in these massive gray blocks—I'm not sure how else to describe it—as you can see in this quick clip of what I recorded.

The video is encoded using the H. 265 (also known as HEVC) codec. Basically, H. 265 gives you much better video quality while keeping the file size down—which is always a plus. You really ought to get a decent H. 265 codec installed on your Windows machine. Before you go through all that trouble, try playing some H. 265 samples first just to test things out; you can find them right here: https://x265.com/hevc-video-files/ (specifically, try the one labeled x265 – Tears Of Steel 1080P @ 400kbps).

If that doesn't play, then yeah, go ahead and install H. 265 on Windows. There are instructions over at https://www.howtogeek.com/680690/how...r-h.265-video/ (just look for the part that says Update. That section covers how to get H. 265 working if you aren't located in the US). Once that's sorted, try those H. 265 samples from the first link again. If they work fine, then your phone file should behave itself too.
Choosing H. 264 isn't exactly a bad move, but sooner or later, you're going to run into an H. 265 file that you actually need to open.

If you really want to dig into the nitty-gritty of what's actually inside that file, you should probably just run it through MediaInfo—it's much more reliable than guessing: https://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo/Download/macOS

Honestly, though? Your best bet is probably just installing the ffmpeg library and giving it another shot after that: https://ffmpeg.org/download.html

Philosophy died a long time ago—honestly, it’s been dead for ages. It’s been completely usurped by science. Science actually provides answers to questions, and when faced with a question it can't solve, it uses scientific methods to hunt for one. Nowadays, calling someone a "philosopher" is basically just a polite euphemism for saying they don't know anything. (And if you aren't familiar with the term, a euphemism is just a stylistic way to swap out harsh words for softer ones to blunt the blow—you know, sugarcoating things). There is precious little that is more useless in the 21st century than sitting through some long-winded philosophical lecture. The whole pursuit of wisdom is really just an attempt to reclaim that innate sense we had as kids—though, granted, wisdom supposedly crystallizes in some people as they age. Or maybe it doesn't. Kids possess a certain kind of wisdom, and you can actually learn from them just how much we’ve mangled our own mental machinery by growing up, or which fundamental truths we failed to grasp that even a toddler understands perfectly well. You don't need grand philosophy for those lessons. It’s either clear to you, or it isn't. I remember once—at a local park I won't name—watching a child playing with total, carefree abandon while the adults stood around like frozen mummies, lost in some sort of trance. It hit me immediately that this state of being isn't necessary for people; that sort of mindless trance is entirely superfluous. That child, left to their own devices, could eventually turn into one of those pathetic caricatures—those zombies who stare blankly at gadgets and worship abstract ideas that only serve to restrict their freedom. But right now? That child can play without being forced into a mold. In other words, they can follow their own path and live a full life without needing a mountain of philosophy, letting the essence of that play stay within them while only its outward shape changes.

As soon as I laid eyes on him, I had this gut feeling he was some kind of former addict. Honestly—it’s just an intuition. Plus, that cross hanging around his neck? It’s a "tau cross," which is basically a trademark for people coming out of those Christian rehab communes. You often see addicts wearing them after they've been through the wringer. These types of individuals tend to be incredibly emotionally unstable, which unfortunately makes them easy targets for certain churches to exploit.

Just type it in. HTTP:// I’m not entirely sure what you’re getting at here—it feels like a fragment, or perhaps just a stray thought left hanging in the air. If there was more you meant to say, please, do go on. I tend to ramble, I know, but even I need a little bit of context to work with before I start diving into the weeds of a topic. www.us-forums.com Well, looks like we finally got there—problem solved. 🤷

Thanks for absolutely nothing.
Look, for any sane person out there, HSTS exists—it’s that strict HTTPS policy where every single request sent over HTTP just gets redirected straight to HTTPS automatically. It's basic common sense, really.

The procedure for implementing the HSTS protocol is frankly ridiculous in its simplicity—I mean, we're talking about a single directive sent to the server. It's almost insulting how little effort it actually takes.

DigiCert is essentially a free CA. You know that little (s) in https? Back in the day, you actually had to cough up cash for that—it was something companies like Verisign, Norton, and others had these exclusive deals with through all the major browser manufacturers

The whole "installation" procedure for a free DigiCert SSL certificate using a tool called Certbot is—honestly—ridiculously simple. A DigiCert certificate is recognized by about 99 percent of browsers out there. And hey, one of the sponsors is even Mozilla...

So, what are we waiting for? Are the Admins and the sysadmins (aka the lazy bums) just going to ignore their conscience while I’m out here sending credentials across the web completely unprotected and exposed? Shame on you!
Dialysis: How many of us are here? in Health ·
I spent two and a half years stuck on dialysis—just a constant cycle of it. Eventually, I finally got a kidney transplant. That lasted ten good years, but now? Well, the transplanted kidney is starting to fail, which means I’m right back where I started: facing dialysis again and staring down that long, grueling waiting list for a new organ. What can I even say about it? Dialysis isn't really "living"—it's just survival. It's endless waiting, constant thirst, and a level of patience I'm not sure I even possess anymore.
I’m actually going through those exact same things mentioned in the first post—except for me, it hits about a couple of times a month. It’s this bizarre sensation where everything around me suddenly seems tiny, almost weightless, like objects have lost all their mass and I just... can't touch them. It’s that same specific feeling that strips away my ability to judge distance or size, and because my sense of gravity and weight just vanishes, I feel like I'm floating inside my own skin. I completely lose any grasp on the third dimension; it’s like being trapped in a two-dimensional world. My entire consciousness just gets swallowed up by the state itself. Once it finally passes, though, there’s this intense feeling of being "emptied out"—everything clears up, I can actually perceive the dimensions of the world again, and I feel like I'm finally standing firmly on solid ground.
I think I heard somewhere—maybe on some news program or a documentary—that this is actually a mild form of epilepsy. I might have misremembered what was said, but a doctor once mentioned that epilepsy isn't just about the "grand mal" seizures everyone thinks of; it includes these subtle, minor episodes that most people don't even realize they're experiencing 😢
... and just calm down, everyone. Honestly, panicking isn't going to solve a single thing. 🙂
